I don't really know where i was going with this, but the blessing is sweet. I got it http://islandireland.com/Pages/folk/sets/bless.html there.

Kieran walked from the over cover he had been standing under and he lifted his head sniffing at the air. He had been moving about lately, scouting and hunting and learning. He wanted to know the area as best he could. He would not lose those he cared about among it's foliage or it's planes. No he would know where they are and find them easily if they should disappear. Frankly Bazi and the babe disappearing as they had, made the scarred male nervous.

He sniffed again at the sky and he sighed softly looking about him. He wondered briefly about the world. It had been so long since he had sung or made merry or anything really. He really felt as though the day needed something though, a song or a poem or something. So he settled to his haunches and thought about it.

Kieran spoke softly a blessing his mother used to tell him all the time.

Is féidir leat a fheiceáil solas Dé ar an gcosán atá romhainn. Nuair a bhíonn an bóthar shiúlann tú dorcha. Is féidir leat a chloisteáil i gcónaí,Fiú i do uair an chloig de brón, An amhránaíocht milis an fhuiseog. Nuair a bhíonn amanna crua fhéadfadh Cruas Ná cas do chroí go cloch, Is féidir leat cuimhneamh i gcónaí nuair na scáthanna fall- Ní gá duit siúl ina n-aonar.

Hope you don't mind this little peanut :)

The flight from Nova Peak had been traumatizing for all of the pack, Whittier included.  And yet, even though there was still a great deal of stress and tension in the pack now that they were settling into the new territory, the chubbiest of the Frostfur babies had actually begun to thrive.  Something about the fern-covered forest brought out the playful, curious energy in him.  Where he used to laze about all day long, he now had taken up a new pastime - creeping beneath the cover of the ferns like a panther on the hunt.

He did also really like napping in the shade of the ferns, but that doesn't have a whole lot to do with what I'm writing about at the moment.

The other nice thing in Whittier's mind about living in this new forest was the fact that the pack all seemed to be a lot closer together than before.  So it was that the chunky pup came upon his Uncle during his predatory creeping.  Excitement danced in his heart when he spotted the male emerging, but he held still in hopes of finding the perfect moment to surprise him.  His Uncle seemed solemn and quiet.. and soon enough, he began to speak in a low, almost musical voice that had Whit canting his head in curiosity.  Suddenly, it seemed kind of wrong to disturb him...

But it also seemed like the perfect moment to attack.  So, Whit barreled out of hiding quite suddenly and charged at his uncle like a ram, shouting a war cry at the top of his little lungs that went something like "BAAAAAHHHHH!"  It might have been impressive were he not still so small and clumsy.  As it was, Whit more resembled a drunk bear cub as he waddled towards Kieran than the swift, graceful predator he was attempting to emulate.

not at all

Kieran watched as the babies began their growth spurts, as they learned the new area. Learned to explore and fight and hunt. It was adorable really. He licked his chops, and tilted his ear backwards as he heard a small sound. Sniffing gently, he smelled a little one on the wind. Kieran didn't see any harm in letting the wee beasties run around, as long as there was someone watching them or someone near. And he trid to be near them when their parents weren't or Kaskara.

Kieran coughed quickly to cover up the laugh that threatened to show itself as the little pup came waddling at him. Laying his ears to his skull and tucking his tail, he backed up. Please don't 'urt me yer wee beast!

As expected, his uncle posed as though terrified of the impending beating the hefty Frostfur was about to lay on him. Whit puffed out his chest in pride as he continued to rumble towards him. Though he acted as though he was just going to barrel straight into him, the pup skidded to a stop at the last minute and lowered his front half in a play bow. He growled threateningly, even though the sound did not match the look of happy delight on his little face. Using his back legs, he thrust himself forward and reached out with both front paws to bat at his uncle - or to be more exact, the empty two feet of space in front of him. He didn't actually want to hurt him, after all.

Kieran chuckled softly, and pushing his ears forward he followed suit. He bent forward, wincing once at the discomfort in his back. There was no denying he wasn't getting any younger. However, he to play bowed and growled softly in return, but he made sure to keep a small smile on his face. After all his growl was a lot deeper and a lot more savage than the babe in front of him, even in play. Kieran leaned forward and gently padded his nephew with his paw right by the shoulder, and he danced backwards and then forward again, his tail wagging.

Kieran met his nephew's playful bow with one of his own. Whit's ears flattened against his head at the sound of the man's throaty growl - more impressive by far than his own. He knew perfectly well that he was in no danger, and so he didn't back down. Instead, he tried to put more power behind his own snarl and pulled his lips back even further to show off his "deadly" fangs.

Whit flinched away from his uncle's swat, but dove after his paw as he pulled it away. He attempted to grab it with outstretched arms, but plopped harmlessly onto the ground and Kieran danced away. With a bark, the boy bounced after him, his tag wagging like crazy as he made another lunge for a the older wolf's forepaw.

Kieran chuckled deep in his throat at the boys ears flattening. He was too cute. The rotund little body, paired with the jolly manners, he was a pleasant child, and Kieran loved to play.  Whittier tried to copy him and Kieran praised him for it. That's a gran' job Whit. Scary!

Kieran pretended to cry out when Whit grabbed his paw, but he laughed and nosed the boy between the shoulder blades. And attempted ot pull his paw away, but not 100 percent.

Kieran praised his attempts at victory, spurring Whittier to try even harder. As a chubby pup, he usually tended to not have the energy his siblings could boast. Had he not been so into the game, the boy would likely have lost his momentum a while ago and plopped down onto the ground, panting, hungry, grumpy, and whining for a nap. Something about the move to the Grove had spurred the curiosity and playfulness in him. Maybe something about being pushed past his limits had actually broken them. Or maybe they were just a lot further away than he had ever let on.

In any case, Whit gnawed on his Uncle's paw once he had it in his jaws. Not enough to break the skin, of course, but still enough to be fun for him. He held on tighter when Kieran tried to pull away, but a touch between his shoulder blades caused his to release his hold, whirl about, and bite at the offending nose with another laugh.

Kieran laughed along with the child. Watching in wonder as the usual quiet, lazy, hungry pup was fast becoming lively and vibrant. Perhaps the move had been all he needed, or maybe he just needed to grow up a little more. Whatever the case, Kieran was pleased at his antics, and they amused him as well.

Kieran laughed as the pup snapped near his face, and he backed up. Wagging his tail, and arching forward. He touched his snout to the child's rear, being able to reach over him and tap it. And he did a shuffling dance. Laughing, not speaking and waiting for the pup to come at him. It was a game that had no need for words.
