i think we should try and wrap this up a bit — i don't think the three of them will be able to do anything about the dam but we can utilize this into a larger plot over time, me thinks. ;)

And much like Luke, Mordecai was beginning to sense the futility in trying to remove the beaver dam as well. Those thoughts were momentarily interrupted when a beaver managed to get a hold on Ilya, but it was dispatched quickly. It was enough for Mordecai to signal to Luke that maybe they should back off — the beavers that had risen out of the waters to the edges and varying tops of the dam chittered angrily at them. He moved slow through the waters as he backtracked, attention settled more on the aquatic rodents than where he would ultimately come ashore.

eep! sounds good! last reply <3 nothing broken or torn on ilya but a minor limp for about a week, i'm gonna say. (:

With a sharp pain running up and down her hind leg, Ilya shifted to view her alpha. Her fur was still fluffed and her stance was rigid. Occasionally her eyes darted back to where she had thrown the large rat, but it simply crawled slowly away from her. She let out a quick snarl as it did so, holding her hind leg close. Mordecai had signaled to Luke to back off, and she too hopped backwards from the structure, waiting for the pair to come ashore. She glanced to her black foot, which was coated in warm blood as it ran down from the wound. She wagged her tail to show that she was alright but after testing it on the ground she decided she really couldn't put much pressure on it. She nodded to them that she'd be fine on the way back, glancing over her shoulder at the nasty creatures before beginning back towards the territory.

His leader was thinking along the same terms as him; that their efforts here were futile, that it would be better to depart dagget and norbert the angry beavers and return with more of their wolves to handle the task. As the trio made to leave, the blue-nosed wolf took to Ilya's side in case she was in need of assistance, having seen that she favored the leg the beaver had struck.

He tread water in the shallows for a bit, waiting until Luke had settled himself up on dry ground before hauling himself up and out of the crisp waterway. With nothing more than a brief pause to shake out his coat, Mordecai brought up the rear of their trio, if only because he took the time to offer the angry beavers a flash of his teeth. It only seemed to set them off a bit more, which was warrant enough for him to get a move on and carry on with the others.

Taking quiet note of the limp Ilya had, he only gained brief glimpses of the wound as they walked on. It didn't seem anything too major, though he knew once they were closer to the Hollow he would suggest she seek out Harlyn to have a look at it if it still bothered her by then. Whether or not it would be much of a concern by then, he couldn't have figured one way or another — bites of any sort were a bit tricky, but some of them could be dealt with on their own.
