Claiming howl thread! Please reply as soon as you can. :) @Gyda, @Snacha, @Lucani, @Hush (okay I am pretty sure you can't howl but that's okay, just reply anyway haha), @Eli, @Smoke.

Thuringwethil doesn’t want to rush the official claim. A few lone wolves at their doorsteps and nearby knew. She expects the alpha from Phoenix Maplewood to inform his own wolves of their agreement, that they do not hunt above the river and she’s informed her own not to hunt below the barrier. But when they are ready, she would know, and as she eases her muscles and looks over the expanse of the mountain and beyond with Gyda standing next to her.

The wind is cool and the sky is brightening up for the day, but still with shadow in the wake of early morning, she shares a knowing look with Gyda. They lift their heads together and everything she has built up in her chest, she howls. With all the force she can pull, she sings as far as she can send it over their new land. Then to be joined by the ethereal woman next to her and their followers.

Lucani was some miles off when the howl went up, roaming Sleeping Dragon for a particular Winter flower she wanted to add to her cache, but the moment she heard it she halted and thrust her muzzle heavenwards. For a few seconds she was silent, just to savour the claim of her two Alphas, but then she joined the song.

She had a deep voice for a female, but smooth and light. And so soared her howl, her heart, and the claim of Thuringwethil and Gyda.

This day heralded a clear victory; not just for the viking queen. It was her victory and yet just as it belonged to her it belonged to Thuringwethil, whom stood at her side but also to the wolves whom had pledged their loyalty to their Queens. Their wolves who would raise their voices to join their own: in warning and in celebration. Their claim was palpable, it was as strong as any blade. They were small but they were strong. Gyda silently acknowledged her companion's knowing look. It was time. Excitement coursed through her veins like electricity and when Thurin's voice lifted to the heavens of Midgard so, too, did Gyda's own.

As the voices rose into unison, a collective of all of their efforts, she felt an un-measurable swell of pride in them — even the ones she did not know well yet.; unable to help the sly and errant wonder if Ragnar would be proud of her...that she had accomplished what none of his sons had been able to.

He can howl - sort of. He tries. https://youtu.be/ATI-xdM47lQ?t=28

He was excited. He had been a member of one pack his whole life - though he had joined wandering bands of wolves and other hybrids before - the last time he was in a pack he was a servant, a slave. Now, he was an equal among the other wolves. Brought in by one of the Queens that now ruled this Sleeping Dragon.

The coywolfdog leapt up from his perch on one of the rocky outcrops, energy welling up from hidden pools inside his body at the sound of Therin's cry. Two more joined him - another woman he had not met, far off in the distance, and Gyda. Deciding that it was his turn, Hush tipped back his head.

Hush could howl - but it sounded more like a beagle's baying (if that beagle had laryngitis) than any proper wolf howl. Regardless, the silver and red coywolfdog let out his own cry, strangled and mangled as it was, joining the harmonies of the other females. His discord was not that unpleasant, but the friction between their tuned pitches and his was palpable. But he did not mind. His howl was unique. They would know what he sounded in an instant.

Note: Hush cannot form words. He can, however, chuff, snarl, bark, and make a yodel-like howl.

Snacha had not left Trigeda thinking she would be part of another pack in an entirely different valley. She had left it with one goal in mind: to become second to the heda of Seageda. But life is not always as it seems, and sometimes plans go awry. And so Snacha had done what her mother had taught her: follow her gut. The raccoon-patterned girl was promised to Heda Thuringwethil and had not once wavered upon that goal, not even as she passed the destruction in Seageda on her way; that only spurred her on further. Where had the heda gone? And now that she was here, now that Snacha had met Gyda and the others, however briefly, she knew her life here had truly begun.

And what a life it would be. Thuringwethil called forth for her wolves to claim this land, and Snacha lifted her voice in song. This land was theirs. These wolves were their family, their kru, and Snacha would do everything in her power to protect them. Her song was long, melodious, and went something like this, "We are Dragon Clan. Do not cross these borders if you wish to live."

True to his word, Smoke was patrolling the borders when he heard the call. His ears twitched in the direction of the beautiful song. Even in his long life he had never heard anything what rallied his heart so much, never heard anything to make him stir inside quite like this song. The song of a pack formation. True he had been Alpha of his own pack for a while but it was not like this. This was something new, fresh, vibrant and it was almost as if the wind had colours to it. He savoured enjoying the sound for a moment and then with all his heart joined the rallying cry of the others in his pack, letting the world know they had arrived and their name was Sleeping Dragon. So enveloped in the moment and lost in song he never wanted this moment to end. He was filled with so much joy and community spirit that he thought he might explode at any moment. As he howled the silver male closed his eyes and dared to hope that at long last he was home.

From the border Eli occupied, he could hear the howls of his new clansmen rising into the air.  An unfamiliar feeling rose in the pit of his chest as each voice carried into the heavens, one by one. Soon, Eli was unable to contain himself. His patrol ceased, and he tipped his head back to join his voice with the others.

Under the strength of their commander, the claim of Sleeping Dragon would not fail. He was sure of it.
