Phantom Hollow fly

the lack of shelter and food had buffalo in a bad mood. add to that the fact he hadn't seen byll in a while, and he was also miserable, wanting. he lay on a bare patch of ground and sulked in the midday heat, thinking hatefully of the wolves above him and how he must claw his way upward, ever upward.

for, if his sister had disappeared as she often did, buffalo needed to find other amusements. malice would be his, a conquest, for he loved only byll. and himself, of course. the man smirked and gathered himself up, setting a slow lope through the territory in search of water while he began to plan this game.

It was very hard days. There was barley any food left in the caches and giant game proved to be scarce. It made him fear for the worst. Oh, this was a terrible time for Malice to be pregnant. Who was to say there would be food for her or the upcoming arrivals? And what about the pack? How would they survive?

Issun searched desperately for Sage, wanting to speak to her, but there was no sign of her. Distressed, he paced through the wood, only to find a white coat. The new one, Buffalo was his name. Issun walked closer and chuffed to get the attention.

the wolf he found was not malice, but a muscular blackfurred wolf who seemed perturbed. "hey, friend," buffalo crooned, pausing to wave his plume in a affable way at the man. "what's bothering you?" he talked like they had been friends forever, though in truth he'd never met this wolf. he only wanted to throw the other off-guard, make him stumble and blink and eye buffalo as if he was crazy.

He raised a non existent eyebrow at the wolf. His introduction was new to say the least. Issun didn't ponder over it however, since he didn't think much of it.

"This," he answered, glancing around the barren landscape. It was going to big a big problem. The yearling had only heard of the locust's destruction in stories, never did he think they would come to Teekon. "It's going to be hard to manage. For everyone," he sighed.

he nodded solemnly. "yeah, but we will get through. we have to. malice is gonna shoot out her kids any day." a brief stab of resentment seized at him but he pushed it away. it wasn't the queen's fault byll couldn't get pregnant. he smirked at other dude. "on that note, we should hunt." 

moving toward the border, the pale man sniffed the air and then looked back to see if the other followed. however, the call of his sister rose waveringly on the air, and he froze. "raincheck, dude," the man muttered, fear rushing through his gut. he offered no other explanation before he sprinted away in the direction of byll's howl.
