PRE-PLAGUE THO

Something had come over Eshe in days of late. She was hot and cold, and though she desired to be near Scimitar, she also drew away from him. Never was she cruel and never did she bare her fangs before him, but it was clear she was under some amount of duress. Such a thing had been occurring for a little under a week, and here, this day, it was revealed to her why! Her changing scent had been the first clue, but Eshe knew nothing of that. The woman had thought she had missed her heat, but she had been wrong, wrong indeed. Bazi had not stressed it out of her, as she had fled from Everwinter before she could even be on the cusp of it.

And now, it had come, truly. Eshe was in need, and pined, though she did not know for what. Her tail lashed wildly behind her, wafting the tell-tale odor around Neverwinter as she moved through the wood. She panted heavily, her eyes looking but not really seeing as she pressed against the tree, yearning for contact, and not yet comprehending much else.

It was the first time ever in the honeymoon phase of the Frostfur’s life that Eshe drew away from his side for such lengthy times. He was not a clingy wolf by nature – he quite enjoyed the silence the world had to offer, and while he was a wolf of action over thought, it did not mean that he did not enjoy such moments to absorb his thoughts.

But it was different this time, and he felt worry gnaw at him as Eshe became more reclusive than normal. She was gentle with him – and yet the cinnamon wolf was quick to allow her the space she desired, his eyes only looking onward with a slight hint of worry.

He should have recognized the signs prior to when the scent practically slapped him in the face one day – but both of them had assumed there would be more time before such a day occurred. He did not realize Eshe and Kaskara had spoken of their desire to raise children together – for the moment, all he could consider was that his mate was leaving a hot trail for any male that might come about.. and he was unsure if the Forest should have two litters so close to one another.

He followed her – his large form moving with the duress of nature and what called to him, keen on ensuring that the other males of the pack would maintain their distance from her. He trusted them without question – but such events had a strange way of bringing out a different side of others.

She smelled him in the air, and scarcely recognized her own perfume as she spun to find him. Her mind was utterly one-track, and she thought solely of him at last. And when she saw him! Eshe could think of nothing else to do but nuzzling against him, and being held by him! Why did she want any space from him at all? She did not desire it, not even for a millisecond! Oh, she needed him by her side always. Eshe did not hesitate in moving 'round him and then moving to stand alongside him. Mine, mine, mine! She felt like she was burning with that thought!

But she couldn't speak. When she tried, a wanting whine came, and that was all. So she moved to give him ginger little kisses, and nuzzled under him. She refused to break away from him now just yet, since he was here and she so loved the feel of him.

“Eshe,” he practically growled her name, the nuzzle of her warmth against him, the scent of her urging him to nip at her flank. “Eshe, love, shh,” he murmured, his muzzle then seeking out her cheek to brush against it. Did she understand what was happening? His eyes were gentle upon her, his breathing becoming more forceful as he attempted to take calmer breaths. “You’re in heat, love,” he clarified, his brows lifting up, wondering the impact of this statement. “We can’t – unless you think the pack could handle two litters?”

It was not logic that spurned him in that moment. Of course the pack could not handle two litters. They were newly settled. He had hoped Kaskara’s brood would be older when Eshe had come to hear.. and yet here they were.. and he could not remove himself from her or the situation. He crooned at her, his tail sweeping through the air as he made to embrace her once more, his tongue sweeping across the bridge of her nose in affection.

Nonsense filled her brain. Utter nonsense. And his face! And desire. Wordless desire for things she had never before experienced. Her love for Scimitar had always been innocent and sweet, and now a new sort of passion entered her mind and caused her body to set aflame. His words were not truly heeded, or heard, but the questioning tone was answered with a look and a desirous smile. Hmmm, was the only intelligible thing she could produce. Heat? It did not process, though she had heard it. In one ear, out the other. It couldn't possibly be! And she paused long enough to think on what he said, and she dreamed of it, and murmured with a little gasp, Children of our own! Consequences were thought little of. She was in a world of dreams, and she moved to press herself all over her mate. Yes! Though if it were an answer to his question, or the answer to her own words and desires, there was no knowing.

His kiss was met with a hundred needful ones from her. Eshe was inexperienced here, and she looked to him with eyes full of want. What was it? What did she need? Ah, but he would know, he always did! He, her love, her handsome and perfect love! She drew in close and pressed her nose to him, looking into his eyes with lids weighed down with lust. I love you! She breathed against his lips, tail waving wildly, flinging her scent across the wood.

Wrap up with a fade soon?

It was more than irresponsible – it was unimaginable to the wolf who was usually so stringent and stoic. Eshe brought out a different side to him – and he was not going to battle nature on this.. not in the moment. All his own mind wanted was to hear her consent, and in that moment, as want coiled within him for the lissome she-wolf before him, he could think of nothing greater than their own family. Little ones that would romp with Kaskara and Kieran’s children.

She feathered kisses upon him, and he began to return the affection. He nosed beneath her chin, his planting a kiss upon her throat before eliciting a rumbling growl. Sliding past her front, the large wolf nipped at her flanks, readying himself before lifting up, pulling her closer to him in an age-old embrace. He waited her response – he waited for her final consent, and until then, he continued to croon at her, his teeth taking aim to nip along her shoulders and the base of her nape.

She was wild in her adoration for him now, and was a woman possessed by this feeling. They had done nothing like this before, as Eshe was innocent to such intimate matters altogether. But now, one simple touch was not enough; she wanted more, and she was not sure what it was!

Ah, but somehow he did, he always knew, and Eshe instinctively consented and went so far as to step backwards, her body quivering with need.

He nudged her once more, his muzzle tipping forward to brush her ear delicately. Something about Eshe settled him the moment his eyes glanced upon her, and now, lost within her, it was no different. Their decision was rushed – their actions wild, and unthoughtful. But it would be okay – the forest provided them with more than enough and their pack had grown enough to sustain whatever would come of it.

The finality of his decision was given, and for the first time, Scimitar pulled his wife in to a loving embrace that would unknowingly bring forward new life in to one of the darkest moments the two had dealt with together.
