The Tangle BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY

He was so hungry. And yet when the call had risen, Whittier had hesitated. The young Frostfur had been a member of the Saltwiner pack for only a few days, during which he'd been worked hard by his adoptive brother. It was for this reason the hesitation had struck him - he was just so tired, and so hungry. How was he to answer such a call when he was so overwhelmed by these emotions? He'd thought that by joining a pack, he'd be magically taken care of. But life was teaching the soft boy a valuable lesson: life was a cruel, heartless bitch. There were no free meals and no easy rides. His life thus far had been a fable, and this here was reality punching him hard in the gut. His hungry, hungry gut.

Speaking of punching, he was probably in for a world of hurt if he didn't show up to support his new packmates in whatever endeavor this was...

With that thought in his head, Whittier roused himself from his rest and headed towards the call. Even if he'd answered immediately, it would have taken him longer than most. So when he finally arrived on the scene, he came upon what he would consider to be total chaos. Swears and curses were flying and bodies clashing, all over the carcass of a thin, sickly-looking deer that looked like five-star cuisine to his hungry eyes. But, Whittier was no moron (in spite of what history might suggest). He knew that he was not likely of use in the situation that unraveled wildly before him, in spite of how desperate his own hunger was.

And so it was that Whittier stood before the scene - impotent and useless as an elderly dick lacking Viagra. There didn't even seem to be an opening where he could sneak in and try and grab a pound of flesh, so packed together were the wolves that had arrived before him. Still, he lurked and put on the impression that he was waiting to be useful when really, he felt awkward, uncomfortable, and nervous as hell. He'd abandoned a nap for this shit, seriously?
