Odette sat outside of the den thinking of the man that Uncle Steady had named her Father.  She bit her lip.  Was she the only one who didn't have one?  Or were there others out there that were also Fatherless.  Odette sure hoped not... she would never wish that upon anyone ever.  Odie hoped not, even though she had never really had a true chance to meet and bond with her mysterious gone Father, it felt strange to think that she could have had one.

What was it like to have a Father though?  Odette began to wonder.  What did they do?  Teach you how to hunt?  Help you speak your first words?  Play with you?  Odie didn't know.  Still she knew that she had Uncle Steady.  Maybe he could and was her Father in some way.  Odette thought about that for a little it, but still thought about this unknown Father.  Did he even look like her?

Ooc: I couldn't resist! On my phone, excuse grammar mistakes :)

Krypton wasn't technically fatherless, she grew up underneath his guidance. She was made to be his child, she was made to be alike him.

But it now that she left home, she could consider herself to be fatherless. With a quiet demeanor, the brute traveled a bit closer to den where the children were.

she bore no food, but instead wanted to just go and boost her morale. Before she could go in, she saw the small Odette sitting outside. She looked like she was thinking, very deeply.

her head tilted a bit, soon wandering a bit closer. She let out a small chuff, then coming over. She smiled warmly to the child, not sure if she was to even lay a paw on her or not yet. She didn't get very close to the den, fearing Zaria would want Krypton close.

Odette was slightly surprised to see the brown female again.  Odette was also pretty glad though that the female had let out a chuff too, so that it would be harder for her to be startled.  Odette stayed silent for a minute, still thinking about her absent Daddy, when finally she spoke.  "Do you haaa a Daddee?"  She asked the older female innocently and curiously.  Odette really hoped the answer was yes.

As she waited for the older wolf's reaction and response, Odette stood up, watching the female curiously.  What had her Daddy thought of this wolf?  She wondered.  Had he thought well of her or lowly of her?  Ode was pretty sure she knew the answer to that question though, if her Daddy had been anything like her.

The little one's question was a bit surprising to the earthy woman, shocking almost. The fact that Odette knew she didn't have a father shocked krypton, and even the child questioning it was almost....disturbing.

but it was an innocent question, and the child had every right to understand life and death. Whether Zaria told her children or not, it was none of Krypton's concern.

the brute gave a sad smile to Odette. "I did, but not any more" she said, sugar-coating her words. She was forsaken by her family, she felt their eyes watch her as she fled.

She closed off her flash back and returned her attention to the small ball of fur. "My daddy-" she started, looking down for a moment. "He's far away." Krypton didn't wish to sadden the little girl, but instead just inform her.

she tried to give her an uplifting smile. "You aren't alone for not having a daddy little Odette" she said softly, wondering if the child was even processing any of the words she spilled.

Odette was very sad to hear that the brown furred female did not have a Father.  Although she was slightly confused as how the older wolf said that she did not have a Daddy and then said that he was far way.  What did that mean?  Was that the same as her case?  "I sorry."  Odette whispered a little nervously.  Yet although she would never admit to it, Odette suddenly found herself a little relieved that she and her siblings weren't alone in this case.  This feeling was the polar opposite of how she origanally thought she would feel.

Of course Uncle Steady had already told her, but she wanted to confirm what he had said to her.  It wasn't that she thought her Uncle to be lying, because she believed basically 100 percent of whatever he said.  Next to her Mother he was probably the wolf that she trusted the most currently.  She just wanted to know more about her life.  She craved more knowledge.  Needed more knowledge, and the only way to get true knowledge was to confirm it from more than one source.

"Why my Daddy gone?"  She asked, with a nervous glance at her paws.  She hoped that the brown furred female would be true to her and not sugar-coat anything or lie, but Odette was just gping to hope that this brown furred wolf told her the truth.  It could even help finalize Odette's full trust in this wolf.

The apology from the child could only make Krypton's heart melt. She didn't know the story, but yet she apologized for something she just heard. The child was smarter than Krypton expected.

nonetheless, their conversation continued. Odette seemed nervous, but her question made Krypton almost freeze. Odette wanted to know why she was fatherless. Gulping dryly, she licked her lips softly.

krypton felt it was the right to Odette to know why her daddy was gone. She looked down and decided to throw it in as a sorry. Just to soften everything.

"well" she started, trying to find a good way to explain everything. "Your daddy was needed elsewhere, little one." FitzDutiful was needed with the others in the sky, to watch over those on earth.

"You know about stars, don't you?" She asked, wondering if Steady spoke to her about astronomy.

krypton thought about how she would go on with the child.

Odette was relieved when the brown furred female finally began to tell her about why her Daddy was gone.  Although Odie was quite curious on where her Father was needed.  Soon the curiousity just turned to saddness though.  So had someone taken her Daddy from her then?  Had they thought that they needed him more?  Odette frowned with a couple sniffles.  "Who took m Daddy fro me?"

Then there was also the astromony matter.  Of course she knew about the stars!  She loved them!  Adored them even.  They seemed to call to her in a way that no other object did.  So she told this to the older wolf, after a few more sniffles and the frown still remaining.  "I know about da tars.  I wuv da tars."

Each breath, the brute felt her heart lurch and crack. Had she said the wrong words? The child was already upset and sniffling, and Krypton feared an angry mother would soon awaken to tear her ears off. Although she had been with STM for quite some time, Krypton still had her fears of Zaria. The yearling, though small, was tough. She had no fear of attacking and protecting, even if not needed.

With invisible sweat rolling down her fur, Krypton watched little Odette. Her question burned a hole into Krypton's chest, and the earthy woman had to think of a way to make it a bit easier. She was given the opprotunity at least, Odette spoke of a passion for the lovely diamonds of the sky.

With a reassuring smile, Krypton continued her story. "Those stars are wolves, dear child. Wolves that are our ancestors, the great wolves who were here since the beginning" she spoke softly, lifting her gaze to the sky. "The first wolf was the only star, and the largest. We call him the north star." The story was quite similar to the story that Kryp's mother told her when she was young. It was when her dear friend died, and Krypton's mother decided to ease the pain with a story.

Krypton paused to take a breath before continuing. "He became lonely, and soon asked for others to be his friend. Others joined the lonely wolf, soon filling the sky." With her ears flat in a neutral position, Kryp took another breath. "Your daddy is up there too, being a friend to that lonely wolf" she explained softly.

"You see, little Odette, your daddy went up there to be a friend to another lonely wolf" Krypton spoke to the child, soon returning her gaze upon the girl. "He's up there every night, the star closest to the biggest one, watching over you " she explained, hoping the child understood what she was getting at. "He's there to guide you and protect you from harm. He watches over you every night, you'll always be able to see him" she finished, once more lifting her gaze to the sky.

The story didn't make any sense.  How could wolves go up that high?  She had tried it with Uncle Steady just last night and had ended up falling backwards and almost hurting herself.  Wolves could not fly so high.  Even Odie knew that.  Yet the small Odette was just too nervous to point that fact out.  After all she didn't want to upset this female at all for not approving of her story.  Although Odette began to wonder if this wolf truely thought this?  If so Odette hoped that she would one day learn the truth so that she would not have to live in a world of lies.

Odette finally paused in her sniffling and took a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself down.  Although she didn't think the story was true, she still had questions about it.  Such as why this North Star dude even needed her Father, since he appearantly had other friends up with her now.  In fact this North Star was greedy!  A bully!  Odette sniffled once again.  What if she became lonely though?  Did her Father not care about her?  Why should he though anyways?  It's not like he even knew a single thing about her.  She had no strong determined memories of seeing him after all.  In fact she didn't even know what he looked like.  Suddenly a new thought came ot Odette's mind.  Was it her fault that her Father left?  The thought left her stunned for a few moments and it showed in her expression.  Why else would this Father leave that would actually make sense.  It had to be her fault.  Guilt pushed it's way into Odette's heart.

Odette asked no question though.  She kinda wanted to, but she didn't know what to say to the point where she would even want to hear the answer.  So no questions or comments were made by Odie.  So instead she just looked down silently at her paws not sure what to think, accept that it must have been her fault that her Father was gone from her life.  So Odette turned around and began to walk away. Back towards the den.  There she would hopefully get some time to think for herself about this whole crazy situation.  Alone.  A small sob racked Odette body, but then she walked into the den and was gone.
Last post from me I think.  Thanks for the thread!

Krypton felt guilt chew upon her bones as confusion washed upon the child's face. She wanted to tell her the truth, but feared that Odette wouldn't understand the thought of losing her dad, nor ever learn to be happy again.

before she could clear up everything, the child secluded herself within her den, and Krypton decided it was time for her to leave.

silently, she left, knowing she had nothing else to say.
