All Welcome
Laurel spent most of her days hanging out with @Indra , bar the few little lonely trips the pair made without the other. She'd also begun building up a hideout, which was like a secret thing that only she could enter. She decided that she had to look for her sister to show her the place, 'cause Indra was her favourite person in the whole world, so she was therefore the only one allowed into her hideout. It was hidden under a thick bush, where there was a tiny clearing in the center and there she hung up or placed her treasures.

Of course she spent a lot of time with @Shreya , @Spring and @Casmir too, because they were her caretakers. Overall, Laurel seemed fairly happy-go-lucky for a child with no parents. There were a few times when she grew lonely, but those times she would snuggle up to Indra and everything would be so much better.

Today Laurel was hunting butterflies. She had hunted bugs before, but butterflies were the best 'cause they weren't too hard to catch, and pretty to boot. Laurel had noticed a yellow one flying off not too far off, and she prepared to set in chase. She stood in a clearing with lush grass growing and the butterfly sat on a rock. Laurel lowered her body to the ground and crept closer in cat-like fashion, ready to pounce.

Hope you don't mind me again! :)

Shreya was hunkered down in the shade of a bush, curled to inspect one of her hind paws. It had been hurt in a fight (yep, Shreya in a fight) not so long ago, but she had tended to it and it was getting better. The limp would last for a few weeks yet, but after that she'd be as right as rain.

The elder turned then to notice Laurel in the mid-distance, creeping towards a butterfly. Intrigued, the Mentor decided not to say a word — but simply to watch.

not at all, ty for joining :D

Laurel slowly crouched closer to the yellow butterfly while it fluttered around without a care in the world. She would make it see how cruel the world could be, and what a real predator was like, Laurel thought confidently. She stopped, pinning herself to the ground and looking up through the grass around her as the butterfly fluttered over to a rock and landed there. I have you now, Laurel thought to herself and with a loud "RAAAH!" she pounced at the butterfly.

The butterfly darted up just as she pounced, but rather than away from her, it flew in her direction. Laurel snorted loudly as the butterfly flew into one of her nostrils and she tumbled backwards screeching, "AAAAAAAAAA!" while pawing at her obstructed nose and inhaling the butterfly closer rather than getting it out with her rapid breathing.

:D

Shreya watched with interest. She had already tested hunting on Indra, and the girl had shown a bit of promise despite having been a bit too young for the idea. Laurel seemed more subtle and steadier on her paws, and then...

Well, a rabbit wouldn't fit up her nostril. So there's that.

With a sigh of exasperation and amusement, Shreya got up and walked towards Laurel's familiar cries. Alright, little miss subtle, she planted herself in front of the pup and leaned down. Do some sneezes, come on — give me a big pretend sneeze through your nose.

Somewhere during Laurel's excessive flailing, Shreya arrived, seemingly sudden. The one moment she was flailing one direction, and when she flailed back she was looking at Shreya, who looked surprisingly calm considering the situation she was in. "BAAAHHHTRFLY!" screamed Laurel loudly in Shreya's face before she could say a thing, as if it wasn't clear enough what was wrong what with half a butterfly sticking out from Laurel's nostril.

She calmed down a little at the sound of Shreya's voice and at her command, Laurel tried to snort out the butterfly by exhaling rather than inhaling sharply all the time, as she'd been doing up 'til then. She tried a couple of pretend sneezes and eventually, at the end of one of them, the butterfly came flying out, smacked against the stone it'd previously been sitting on, not looking all too lively anymore itself. Laurel herself plopped onto her butt, looking disoriented from all the flails.

Laurie's cry of BUTTERFLY was one heck of a warning siren, and Shreya's ears flattened at the sheer volume.

After some great thundering around, the puppy managed to excuse the butterfly from her nasal passages, and Shreya trotted over to her and gave her a pat on the forepaw. You're a bundle of trouble, aren't ya, she observed with a touch of amusement.

Laurel pouted as Shreya called her a bundle of trouble and said, "Yeah." She the looked over to the butterfly crushed on the rock, where it had remained, and quickly came into motion again to inspect it.

It was with renewed enthusiasm that Laurel declared: "I caught it!" And her tail whirred as she looked excitedly at Shreya, hoping she'd share the excitement for her clever catch.

Shreya looked at the butterfly, which was either stunned or deceased, and smiled when Laurel stated that she'd caught it. After much ado, she concluded.

She limped over to sit nearby, wrapping her tail around her legs. So Laurie, think you'll be a hunter when you grow up?

Laurel rolled her eyes at Shreya's remark, clearly not in agreement on that. She stated matter of factly, "That was the plan!" and then rolled her eyes, as though it was real silly that Shreya hadn't known that it was Laurel's intention to catch it this way all along.

Up close it turned out the butterfly wasn't dead, but one of its wings was torn and it fluttered its wings uselessly, unable to fly any longer. It crawled up the rock a little, fluttered some more, while Laurel stared at it in surprising silence.

She looked over her shoulder when Shreya asked about being a hunter and said, "Dunno, maybe."

Shreya showed an expression of fake surprised followed by fake understanding and appreciation when Laurie said it was her plan to stun the butterfly with her nose.

And are you going to be an entirely nostril-based hunter, or...? She was poker-faced.

lmao, i love these two so much :')

Laurel lifted her nose into the air defiantly at Shreya's remark and haughtily declared, "Maybe I will." Of course, she wasn't ever intending to put anything down her nose again, but Shreya didn't have to know that. Deciding to quickly change the subject, Laurel said, "C'mon, let's go down to the creek to catch frogs!" And without waiting for an answer she set off towards the creek with an excited spring in her step.

Me tooooo. :3 On that note, is this a good time to fade? Shreya's almost got her PPC status. <3

In a rare moment of letting loose, Shreya laughed out loud at Laurie's nonsense — which she loved as much as the girl herself.

Although still limpy, Shreya kept up with the puppy well enough, and off they went to catch frogs and live life with a smile.

haha, nice timing to go ppc in the light of this! xD A fade sounds good. :)

Most of the time, Laurel was a happy girl; so long as she got her way, which was usually. The way that her mother's departure had torn here was not yet visible, and perhaps it never would be; it was hard to tell at this point. She didn't show as many outward signals as her sister, at least, to missing her mother, even if the feelings were still there.

Shreya followed and Laurel squealed "YAAAY!" as they bounded towards the creek to catch some frogs together, blissfully happy for the moment.

Yeah! XDD

<3

As they galloped off together, Shreya fell behind slightly in order to watch the gleeful girl run and play. She felt warm and fuzzy. Shreya was at that time of life now — the young ones would prance onwards, getting further and further ahead. And she would watch, judging and huffing and rolling her eyes...

And smiling.
