He felt himself tensing at the tone of the wolf, but it could not be helped. An instinctual response if nothing else, Mordecai knew his choice of words would need to be careful and precise. That wasn't happening now; his stoicism broke as his gaze tore away from the unknown fellows and to the all familiar sight of another child bolting off into the unknown.

He followed her without a moment's hesitation—he wasn't letting another one go.
