Though he'd spent a good deal of the week familiarizing himself with Donnelaith, today Marcello struck out west to investigate the plateau. Many of the stories he'd heard during his youth centered around Silver Moon Plateau, though Marcello had never seen one in person before. The sheer cliffs rose up to support the flat ground at the apex. As if a giant had come 'round and simply set a bit of earth atop the existing landscape. He felt dwarfed as he scaled the old game trails that wound up to the summit. The plateau was not as massive as the mountains of his birthhome, but remained impressive all the same. Upon reaching the top he was greeted by the sight of thousands of shorebirds wheeling around and around, catching aircurrents as they billowed up from the sea below. It was not flat! In fact, if he did not just ascend from the plains below, he could easily mistake it for the landscape below. Both ears perked forward, primed and listening to the calls of the gulls as they bickered and spat over the best places to roost. The wind here was cold, but not slicing, and it ruffled his tawny fur as he stood awestruck by the view of the mighty ocean just beyond the cliffs.
