Szymon grinned devilishly at his mate, responding to her scolding with a derisive snort that tossed a flurry of feathers over their children. Amused, he left them where they landed, on noses and rumps and crowns and paws. “I will only teach them my best jokes,” he vowed, which…honestly wasn’t very promising at all. [The world’s best dad joke is still a dad joke, after all.] His expression grew serious as a thought occurred to him. “How does Qilaq feel about them?” he asked, feeling a little guilty about his oldest daughter. It seemed difficult for her to grasp certain abstract concepts — and part of that was Szymon’s basic inability to explain them. He hadn’t even tried with this one, but he knew that Doe had spoken with their girl about the difference between Amayo and Mama and the conversation had been a painful and confusing one for both parties.
