Backdated to January 8th. Mama@Ondine and Papa@Kjalarr

The boy, nestled by his mother awoke and as he did, something that had not happened before began. A process of growth in the boy. A step closer to having all senses. His eyes began to open. Through the slits of his barely opened eyes, light peered through. Arrille immediatly closed them tight, mewing in fear of the unknown sight he had. But, eventually he tried again. And slowly his eyes were opening, taking in the light of the world.

The pup had a newfound feeling of awe at the new world around him. Things he had not seen, all new to him. His hearing had not yet developed well, so he could not hear any passing wind. But he could see the inside of the den he was in. He emitted a little excited cry at what he was seeing.

The new mother had smothered her child in her soft fur and warmth, slumbering peacefully beside him. Parenthood was not as troublesome as she had thought - all it did was whine, poop, pee, eat and sleep. Surely it would grow and begin talking, but for now, it was rather quiet. Maybe that was because this boy was her only child, and some mothers carried 3 or 4 souls with them. Somewhere, she was glad that her first was a beautiful, healthy boy - even if two had not made it. This way, there would be no fighting near her belly for the best teat or sparring when they got older. Kjalarr and her could direct all their attention on only him, yet did have to be careful to not spoil him.

Sounds of her firstborn awoke her from her dream, and she blinked her bi-coloured eyes a few times before she could see the den. It was the same as ever - safe for the snow on their doorstep. She hoped it would be spring soon, so their boy could see the flowers grow and the butterflies make their way to each and every one of them to get their meal. And in the summer, they would take him to the sea - the mother could almost not wait for it, but knew to treasure these infant moments too. As for today; she saw something different. Not odd, just something that wasn't so before. Big, blue eyes looked around, and her own were focused on the snowy boy. She gasped, almost kicking Kjalarr who she assumed to be in there with her.

Look- Look! He is seeing! She let out elated, pressing her face close to their son. Could he see her? What did he think of her? Could he think?

Arrile felt his eyes opening slowly, and the light filled in. The first things he saw was the walls of the den, the ground. And then a blur of white. The light slowly focused, and that's when he saw her. The one he would one day call mother. He tried to move closer, crawling across his belly to get closer to this curious sight that it could see.

He couldn't think much of her, as his vision wasn't fully clear yet. But it was getting clearer, and the more clearer it got, the warmer this feeling he had got. He knew he had some kind of connection with this being, a strong connection with this being. One day, it would be able to hear this being's voice. And then, call it Mother. he had yet to see his father. The pup looked across the being's body, then he saw something more curious along the wolf's belly.

Full of wonder were her eyes - even her black one twinkling with amazement and disbelief. Why it was such a big deal that their babe's eyes finally had opened; only a mother could understand. Finally, she was able to look her son in the eyes - his gaze as wonderful as she had imagined. Those eyes - those big blue eyes - would one day sweep across the sight of the sea and all its glory. Those enchanting eyes, that innocence he had, would look upon her as his mother - and she could not fully grasp how amazed she was.

Even though she knew he could not hear her, she wanted to greet him nonetheless; with a name she had been thinking of since the day he was born. Good morning, Arrille... She whispered sweetly, blowing some warm air on his cute face.

Arrile turned his head side to side as he kept his gaze on his mother. She also had eyes, even though he did not know what they were then. Her mouth moved, and warm breath swept over him. It tickled his nose, prompting a cute little sneeze from the small pup. He did not hear his name, but one day he would, and he would understand what it meant to him.

Eagerly, like a hungry bobcat, did she await more from her son. She knew a pup could not do much, but anything he did excited her. That Kjalarr and her had been able to make him was such an unreal and abstract though - but definitely true. They had made the little fuzzball, whether intentionally or not. When he sneezed, Ondine giggled softly. She had never found a pup to be cute - not that this was your average puppy; this was their puppy.

Still giggling and smiling like a lovebird, she tucked him in with more of her silky white fur. She did not know what had caused the sneezing, but she hoped it was not a cold, and would prevent any more cold to reach his young vessel.

Arrille felt her pull him in closer to her, and nuzzled into her fur. It was nice and warm, very cozy. He felt loved, more than anything. With his face buried in her fur, he slowly drifted off to sleep, using her belly as a sort of pillow to rest his head upon as he went off to the dream land, dreaming of all the new things he was able of seeing that day.

She watched him - studied his youthful but handsome features as any mother did while their child was asleep. At least, she thought many other mothers did this, for it was such a magical moment. To think the little boy had somehow come out of her was so wonderful that she could not do much more than admire both him and herself. With a warm smile did she curl around his body - her back facing the entrance of the den so that he would not even feel the tiniest hands of the freezing cold grasp him and try to pull him into sickness.

She rested her head near, closing her eyes as she, too, drifted off.
