Conflicts & Plotting


The WOLF administration takes a hands-off approach when it comes to IC/OOC conflict. We will not mediate except in rare and extreme circumstances and will only step in to affect an IC situation in cases clearly defined elsewhere in the guidebook (pack disbanding, characters falling inactive) or when we feel it will be detrimental to the game as a whole.

Outside of this, to avoid OOC conflict when planning for inter-character plots, we have the following suggestions.
  • If you are gauging interest for a plot, it is preferred that you do so publicly on the forums or in the #ic-conflicts channel where anyone who may be involved can voice their desire/lack of desire to participate.
  • In war plots particularly, make sure to collaborate with the opposing side, particularly concerning timeline.
  • All plots should be driven by IC events.

Remember that the guidebook definitions still stand — these policies will be enforced.
  • You cannot kill another's character without their consent (and your character cannot be killed without your consent).
  • OOC discourtesy is unacceptable. When we see proof of such behavior, the player involved may be given a strike depending on severity. The plot, however, will continue.
Plots should also be played as realistically as possible when it comes to character ability. With a semi-realistic site, this "realism" definition comes with a rather large grey area. If the actions aren't a clear break from what a natural wolf could do, we will allow the nudge system to indicate preference. If you feel a character does something unrealistic (due to age, injury, ability, etc.), then give them a nudge and let them know! The same goes for power-playing, god-moding and meta-gaming. Situations involving these three are normally subtle enough that player preference for their own characters should be the defining standard.

Trespassing


We don't want to discourage organic trespassing plots (we love IC drama!), however, we feel that it is a form of god-moding to imply a character penetrates far beyond the borderline without being intercepted, especially considering wolves' nature as territorial animals. Therefore, we prohibit trespassers from infiltrating a pack's territory beyond just within the borders (unless it's prearranged by all involved parties). Please keep this in mind when starting a thread set in a claimed pack's forum.

For those packs who are especially bloodthirsty likely to react negatively to trespassing, we recommend implementing guidelines such as the following (which should be added to the forum header for visibility):

Quote:All threads between pack members and within the pack's claimed territory are bound by non-consent rules, meaning landing hits and inflicting injury short of death are permissible without explicit permission. Players are expected to play their characters realistically according to wolf behavior + [pack's] culture. If a character's player wishes to participate in "hardcore" mode, a 1D15 can be rolled to determine if a severe wound is fatal, with a roll of 15 equating to death.

Per the policy above, no one may kill another player's character without said player's consent. However, packs are allowed to establish their own guidelines and enforce serious injuries, so tread carefully!
