Kitsch was a girl who always worked best when given a job to do. Of course, she didn’t like doing jobs and complained endlessly, but . Those around her would have created small challenges with which Kitsch flexed her creative muscles and felt smart and self sufficient — and even it was simply a facade, it felt real to her and that’s all that mattered. Her mind was sharp, albeit underutilized and all too often misplaced; but when given a task, she was focused and that felt good. Such a purpose was almost meditative to the pearl and she soon found herself seeking out things to do, if anything, to only amuse her and nurse her high expectations.

Opportunity came to her in the form of a litter: a group of three fat babes born to the sylphlike Olive and the dark Dakarai [[i]mate to Olive, he would have been quick to remind her]. Her introduction to Ceannasach had planted a seed which quickly germinated in the fertile soil of her mind and by the time of the pack’s first birth, Kitsch had quite convinced herself that she had a passion for nursing and caregiving. So when the call came Kitsch hurried herself to the scene and offered her services, eager to show Dakarai that she was useful and not just looking for a free pass [unlike his and Lia’s bitter assertion]. Kitsch did not know why she felt the need to impress him, but she did what her mind bade her to do and nothing more. The two technically were ranked below her, but Kitsch felt a very strange need to nurture and serve and like hell she was going to tell herself no. She never told herself no!

For the days that followed afterwards, the girl brought the exhausted parents meals from the caches [several times she even tried, and failed, to catch small meals for them herself; but it always ended with Kitsch defeatedly revisiting the caches, always taking but never replacing]. Kitsch would drop off the meat and assume parental duties if it was required of her — it didn’t happen often, though, as the pale sylph was always loath to leave her children. Kitsch disliked that Olive felt it was unsafe to leave her babes in her capable, ink-dipped paws — but Kitsch wrote it off as a nervousness from their undesirable situation with Blackfeather Woods, not from her capacity to do her job well. After all, if Olive didn’t trust her, would she had left her family with a babysitter to steal away a moment alone with her mate? Kitsch thought not! And that is where she existed at that moment, with three fat babes in her arms and a wispy smile dancing across her lips. Time to do a good job.
