All Welcome

Calypso pranced through the unfamiliar surroundings, use to not knowing where she headed and therefore quite merry. She regretted wandering away from Kalika, but did not think much of it because of her naivety. Momma will come find me soon anyways. She followed the sound of crashing waves, letting that and the salty air guide her. Her little paws left tracks in the dirt as she trotted forwards.

Soon, the compact earth gave way to sharp rocks that the girl stumbled around on as she walked. I can do this! She stared down at the ground before her, carefully placing her delicately small paws on even ground with each step. The further she walked, the more focused she became, not noticing the growing sound of the thundering sea. It was almost as if the sea was trying to ward the pup away from the dangerous rocks mixing with the tide.

Splash

The girls shriek could be heard over the crashing waves. Calypso sprawled upon the jagged rocks nearly four feet below the small precipice she had been treading upon. Oh..OH no no no. Her mind raced as she pulled herself to her paws. A growing ache in her side nearly buckled the child over whilst she stood. Her whimpers and yelps grew as the tide started to brush her hind paws. Sure, she could swim now, but only for a few seconds on her own. “Momma?.. Help!... MOMMA?!” Her cries turned into sharp squeals as another wave crashed closer to her. “HELP!” She was now up on her hind legs, her forelegs balanced on the wall of new prison and she called to the above, hoping for someone to hear her cries.

The cries of the child rang clear in Kalika's ears. Her head sprung up from the otter carcass which sat before her as she looked out over the horizon in an effort to spot Calypso. Once her target was locked, Kalika took off, fueled by a maternal rush. Turning the corner, Kalika ran into the water and dove under for a split second so as to allow Calypso the chance to find solace upon her mother's head as the two of them escaped the reach of the Sea.

Calypso was paddling with all of her might, but was too young to maintain her pace for long. Her cries did not go unnoticed as the water swept her into Her embrace. It was the grayscale form of her mother who appeared beneath the girl, allowing her to grip solid ground upon her mothers back. Her small paws hugged the sides of her mother's neck as the waves attempted to bring her back into the sea. A small rumble of fear poured from the fae's mouth as she hid her face in her mothers mane. It was these moments that she regretted wandering off the most.

To hear and to feel the life in her daughter remain gave Kalika an utmost sense of graciousness. As she lay down the small girl and the coast and begin to lick at her maw, encouraging the upheaval of any fluids she'd inhaled, she whispered just loud enough for the two of them to hear, What were you doing? Even though Kalika loved the Sea, she knew how dangerous She could be in her trials. What Calypso had done was bolder than what she would have ever dreamed of doing. And although this filled her with pride and hope for the future, Kalika couldn't help but feel and incredible sense of fear come with it.

The little girl's form was heaving with her bodies refusal to keep the ocean in any longer. Salt water ran from her nose until the young sprite was drained of the liquid. Shakily, she stood. Her mother's question weighed on her, "I-I don't know momma...I just wanted to explore...." She looked upon the ground guiltily - unable to meet her mother's gaze. She knew she had been wrong to go off on her own, but she could not help herself when it came to the salty air and crashing waves.
