Pack Activity

Kendra was relieved when she heard that she was paired up with her hunting mentor. Her tail wagged at the female. This would be a good lesson for her. Apparently there was a big flock of birds. She didn't really pay enough attention to what kind of bird they needed to hunt. She looked at Eske, Kendra expected her to take the lead on this whole ordeal.

Kendra was not that confident about her hunting skills yet. She still didn't like it as much as she liked plants. She felt silly being quiet and trying to catch something. The only thing that helped motivate her was that it would feed her hungry belly. "Aren't birds impossible to hunt because they can fly?," she questioned the more seasoned hunter.

Eske is paired to Kendra and if she would have believed in the Gods her mother praised (she did not) she would have thanked every one of them. There isn’t anyone else she wants to be paired with but she couldn’t help but see how this pack wide hunt could be beneficial for Kendra whom she was aiding to hunt. Though Eske had placed her desire to become huntress on the back foot until she earns her place was Wanlida as a next step from Cheka she has not forsaken her promise to Kendra. When Heda does not need her oft seeks to spend time with Kendra. Though Eske worried that speaking her feelings to the girl had been premature she is glad they are spoken nevertheless. Regardless of what transpires between them in the future Kendra is her friend first and Eske will be whatever the older girl needs and wants her to be.

The pair venture down to where Arlo and Melchior found the wild turkeys, her eyes and ears alert for the large birds, but not too attentive to miss Kendra’s concern. Eske’s focus when she’d been attempting to train under Wildfire had been ungulates and birds were a bit of a foreign territory to her but she assumes the mechanics are the same. Just the tactics and approach should be different. She knows a bit about turkeys though, enough she hopes to soothe the dark furred beauty she walks beside. “Nothing is impossible, Kendra,” Eske says with a bit of a cheesy grin to accent the cheesy words as they leave her lips. “Turkeys feed on the ground and that’s our main advantage,” Eske tells Kendra, sparing the girl a glimpse from the corner of her eyes with a soft smile tugging at the corners of her lips. “They only really seem to fly when they seek to roost in trees.”

Kendra slowly nodded. Not entirely convinced that this would ever work but she trusted Eske. Kendra was just curious how they were going to approach them. Perhaps an ambush? She had the feeling that once they would take air that they wouldn't be able to catch them again. She often watched the crows and ravens in Black feather and they were difficult to catch. What made Eske think that these would be easier? The difference was they were fatter. Perhaps that would make them slower?

"So how are we going to do this?," she asked curiously. Kendra wasn't really sure what kind of plan they had to do to catch these birds. It would be nice if they managed to catch one,
it would mean she was somewhat improving with her hunting skills.

Eske purses her lips as Kendra turns to her to decide how to best approach their mission. Birds were never Eske’s hunting specialty — she always preferred ungulates. Big game. She frowns in contemplation, her ears slicking back to rest atop her crown at half mast as she mulls it over, studying the turkeys before them and trying to mentally map out what would be their best course of action. It hits her then that perhaps she should put to test Kendra’s abilities. This was a team effort, after all. Sea-glass green gaze moves from the turkeys to her partner with an encouraging smile upon the curl of her lips. “How do you think we should hunt them?” If Kendra didn’t feel confident enough then Eske was fairly certain she could wrangle up a plan but she genuinely wanted to see if Kendra had any ideas while also trying to be a good (haha) teacher and encourage Kendra to venture out of her comfort zone and think outside the box. Eske thinks it would be easier to flank a bird and attempt to herd it off but perhaps her amour pupil would have a better idea.

Kendra's eyes widened a bit when the other asked her opinion how to hunt these birds. How would she know how to hunt them? She sucked at hunting. Honestly, she would just charge at them. That was definitely not the way to do it, was it? The girl glanced at her 'mentor', who was more of a friend. "Um... Wait for one to get close and jump them?,"she let out hesitantly. She wasn't sure at all about it. At least she knew that Eske wouldn't make fun of her.
