Oops! Someone come find her and save the day!

The rain had made for a particularly slippery route from the western to the eastern end of the territory. As her paws searched for traction on the backside of the hill, Noor's chest began to swell with anxiety. She was sliding back down, albeit slowly due to her continuous fighting. The downpour continued to soak both the mother and the land she stood on until there was eventually too much for her to work against. A few moments of this struggle passed until one paw got tangled beneath the other and she found herself head over heels, toppling back in the direction she had come. A few cries sounded as she pounded helplessly against the soil, the crack of her ribs possibly louder than her voice.

just a cameo! feel free to skip

she watched the other fight a losing battle against the mud. she peered out in total stillness from the copse, hidden away, watching from a distance as the tiny figure finally begun to fall. she watched with an eerie complete and utter detachment as the woman begun to fall, and tumble, heard the crack of bone on soil dimly. perhaps she would die. Circe did not find that she cared particularly much.

she watched a moment longer- if the woman would stir. but in a moment, she would turn from her distant perch, carefully ensuring that no one had seen her, distant as she was, and vanished into the heart of the territory, wondering if news of a dead packmate would grace her ears that night.

He had not been too far away; the man had been remarking the territory after the rain had first began washing the pack's scent away. Most of the others, he believed, had found shelter in the Densite, but Mawk had not been one of those. Although he had wanted to stay with his mate, Cebra, especially now that she was pregnant, he knew that she needed her space - besides, he had work to do. It was tough, patrolling the Bypass in this weather. Everything seemed to be muddy and slippery - everything look dull, including the Lake, which was strange for the medio since he had only seen the land when it was beautiful. Today it certainly wasn't.

When he heard the cries, the wolfdog's ears perked up. It took him a moment to realise that it was Noor, the one who had, supposedly, hated him for quite some time. But even so, she was a packmate and now he had heard that she was pregnant, too. He would not leave her. With a twitch of his (malamute-style) curled tail, the man raced to the source of the sound. He picked up another scent along the way, but did not recognise it (probably partly because of the rain, and partly because he had not met the owner) so he ignored it for now. Once he came across the scene, the male frowned and attempted to get to where the wolfess lay. "Noor!" he called, slipping on some mud before lurching forward with brute force. Eventually he made it to where she rested, clearly in pain. "Shit, what were you doing out here?" Something was wrong, he could tell. He had barely heard the crack of bone, but his golden ears had just about picked up the sound. Until now, he had not realised that it was indeed the sound of breaking bone - Mawk had originally thought it was a rock.

Now, how could he get here to the densite? He needed to get Noor out of here and over to Rhona. She was the Medic-in-training, right? She could help, couldn't she?

Noor sit motionless, the pain so great that no sound could be uttered. Rather than crying out, she sat wheezing with her mouth agape and air struggling to find its way in and out. Mawk was quick to come to her side which she appreciated, but the shock was too great for any of his questions to be answered. Her chest felt as though it were caving in, her forepaw was left limp and numb, but she had no worries for herself. All of her concern was left to her children who she now feared might not survive. Coming out this far was a mistake that could cost all of them their lives, and Noor could rouse nothing but guilt in response.
