All Welcome

The boy ventures from the side of his mother, breaking into the cool air of the morning as he watches the sun rise from the east. But he does not gather the full effect of the occurance, the overcast of shadows inflicted by the canvas of gnarled branches and leaves sprouting off of looming trees managed to only allow a few meger beams of light to escape. It frustrates him, for his is indifferent to the darkness he lives in, but knows very well he cannot change the circumstance of his home. It is what it is, he understands that. Bu by now, the boy is much too alert to retreat to the conclaves of his mother's den, and so he lays outside by himself in the chill breeze, sharpening his newly found razored teeth with a stick placed securely between his paws. @Koume

The firstborn did not sit still for even a second - every night did she venture out to increase her stamina and other valuable skills she knew could be learned by sheer practice alone. She had not asked for hunting lessons, believing she would easily pick it up just as she had spying and sneaking around in their dark woods. It was expected of her, or so she believed, and doing the greatest job meant promoting her social ranking as well. Had she out-trained her siblings? It could very well be, seeing that it was not even often she saw them around. She had grown out of her helpless state and did not longer cling to her sister for comfort, now finding comfort in working and following whatever order was thrown at her. These were valuable months for her future, both for ranking and her personality as a whole.

When she scented her younger brother did her leathery nostrils flare and her sleek tail twitched in the wind, hackles prickling in her neck as she sought the nearest bush to hide in. Flinging the forest bedding on her coat she tried her best to mask her scent - covering the silvery rivers on her back with dirt before soundlessly creeping closer to observe.

As much as he is a boy, he is not an imbicile. On the contrary, he is a boy of present mind so clear that with simple observation, little goes over his head. He does not notice his sibling at first, she suceeds in masking her scent, but the boy knows to use more than one sense when attempting to reveal what the back of his mind warns. Instead, he listens for the rustle of leaves, the snap of twigs; watches for the shadows that seem to darken when another draws near. That is how he knows he is not alone.

He snarls in the direction of his sister, brother, whomever lurked so close behind. Vaati has no mind for their games, not when his attention was currently being well-placed on the object between his grasp; the boy is amused rarely by anything these days, especially when nothing within the dark forest is able to command his attention. His home is but a single shadow, and holds little spark to it. What he wants is to venture beyond, to witness what his eyes have not seen. And so without a single thought does he pick himself up from the ground, gravitating with each step towards the borders.

She did not often fail her own missions and liked to think of herself as a professional. And so, her ears swivelled atop her head when the sibling bond that hung in the air was enough to give her away - even though far earlier had she tricked a grown-up. She'd have to ask later what exactly he had sensed so she could improve her future skills but for now she moved forward proudly. Brows held angularly down in a serious manner, she held her head up high as she emerged from the clutches of the woods. It was then her silvery sibling raised and went - her eyes followed him before she shook out the dirt. With strong, disciplined steps did she try and catch up to him - expression never flitting or shifting. A soldier at heart? Quite probably.

Vaati much preferred soilitude than the clambering presence that darted after him; his sister was as graceful as a moose in the sense that he could never remain unnoticed while she lurked behind. Her footfalls were hard, galant but much too forward for the boy who alternatively liked to roam as silent as possible. She was even able to produce a mild ounce of emotion from the boy: annoyance, and with a roll of his eyes did he whip around, glaring face-to-face with his current stalker. While he appreciated the notion that he was the object of her interest, she was very much not his. His eyes said so as they landed on the girl. "No," He commands with a firm tone, signalling all she needs to know with a single word. He explored alone. He was independent, unlike the rest of the brood he had been subjected to call his sibings. Koume may be his older, but the placement of their birth order was evidently an accident and spread apart by a meger few seconds; Vaati would not be hastled by a girl, much less one who was both his older sister and wholly unsuperior.

Now that she was on the move again, she felt a strong urge to explore beyond their borders. Only once had mother taken her and her sister out to meet some stranger that had claimed he was their father, but it had not been enough for her to see just what lay beyond the mountains. Already had she planned to leave the brotherhood if no high rank was available for her, seeing that she held little respect for their beliefs and such.

Bi-coloured eyes twitched with anger and surprise at her younger brother's behaviour. Right, she had gone after him - why again? Damn it, usually she was more focused than this. One corner pulled her lips into a smug smirk and an obnoxious giggle escaped her. As if you can tell me what to do. She replied, seemingly waving his hostility off with a flicking ear. Now - let me pass. I am far faster on my own. Again did she smirk, brows raising as she expected Vaati would step aside and let her cross the borders first.

She continues to bait him, taunting him with tones of mockery as she skips ungracefully behind him. She giggles and she chides, attempting to get an emotion out of him that he is uninterested in giving. Vaati does not entertain other's with his anger, the notion is beneath him and as young as he is, he has moral standards. If she truly wishes to aggrivate him, she will not still be giggling once the true affect of his fury is shown. And so, he does not respond to her taunts. Instead he snarls once more, and lets her pass, knowing that if she does, she will have no plan nor idea of where she is going. That does not bother him. He is focused on his own intentions, which consist of simply going anywhere that his sister does not exist at that moment. Vaati has zero interest in the immature notion of who can cross the borders first. He does not need to prove something as simple as movement to Koume, who has the agility and mannerisms of a pregnant bear. Scoffing silently, he diverts to the left, attempting to avoid the sister altogether but still with the intent to cross.

She smiled mockingly as he moved out of her way - probably too intimidated to say another word to his older sister. She did not take her being older lightly, even though it was only by seconds that she had come upon the earth sooner. She passed him with her sleek tail in a straight, orderly line behind her and eyes set upon where the sky met the earth. With long, powerful strides did she start running toward the border that had kept her at bay for a long time now.

She did not hesitate to cross it, going straight forward with the intention to seek some better company than her little brother.

He blinks once in the direction of his sister's retreating form, wondering how long it will take her to realise her taunts only landed her in a direction she had previously no intention of wandering, and therefore located in a spot that she did not truly want to be. If not, it was the knowledge that she had done exactly what Vaati had wanted that gives him the clarity to continue with his trek in the opposite direction. Even if it was by his own passive actions that managed to get her to do what he wanted, he had obtained what he wanted in the end; solitude. Koume had been all too headstrong to see that, and he was more than sure it would be her downfall, and it would not be the last time Vaati proved intellectually superior.
