Sliding through the canyon, the sun reflected off the rocks as it set over the hills, casting a vibrant red and some orange in areas, the vibrant landscape was a contrast to the rich chocolate pelt that wandered the rocks. The bright rocks against the dark earthy tones had him nearly sticking out like a sore thumb - at least for the time being.

The sun would soon set and the vibrance of the walls would soon fade to black under the cover of night. There was no reason for his presence here, other than mindlessly wandering in search for food to feed the perpetual empty pit within his belly. With no pack or lands for his own, as a loner, his sole job was to survive, and food was always top priority. The scent of goats filled the air - and once the sun faded, he'd begin the hunt.

the canyon was hers.

she sat on the high walls overlooking the sands below, sheltering from her father's light at its broiling peak, and reluctantly sliding from the shade at the higher walls as the sun slid down towards the Underworld.

she kept a watchful eye over her domain when her eyes, flames in her sockets, slid over the sands below. she became increasing aware of a presence clad in dark chocolate sneaking through the red and gold stones and walls. her hackles raised at the sight, because she saw the intent in his movements as his body's speed intensified with the coming of night.

before she lost him to the night she slipped down her lofty throne, stalking him. despite the appearance of this mortal form, she was a lionness through and through. and she followed in, intent on closing in on the dark beast before Ra's rays disappeared for the day.

Within the walls of the rocks, the wind was still. No breeze ran through and thus when the stalker began to follow his shadow, the lack of movement in the air had given her away. The scent of a woman filled his nostrils, causing him to stop in his path and allow his ears to flicker and try to locate her presence. Despite the lack of breeze, there was a difficulty in pinpointing her location. The scent was faint, its direction uncertain but her presence was true.

What is it you want? He called out, keeping his eyes sharp and ears in attention. I don't take all too kindly to stalkers. His tail shifted behind him in a quick motion, an irritated action while he continued to scan the area. Hackles rose in a defensive stance, his tail swung low to protect him from any attack from behind.

she was spotted.

indignation fumed in her body as the man turned to see her. that the lion goddess, sekhmet, of all of them, was spotted riled her. she stood firm, even as she was confronted by the man. she was nearly as large as he, but his girth outmatched hers. she wondered what kinds of these canid creatures — wolves — made their homes here, amongst the mountains and the moors beneath. Name yourself, mortal, she demanded, her eyes wandering over his form, a black ash in the burning sands of the desert, her desert.

He had yet to pinpoint her location, the man stood facing forward, allowing for his nose and ears to try to locate her. In the canyon, it would be difficult to spot her visually, eyes were easily tricked after all. A shadow, a mouse moving in the brush, at a time like this, having a sharp nose is what he was truly thankful for.

Femine tones finally rang out in the silence, ears flickering into her direction, giving him a general idea at least where she was. Turning, it was immediate that his eyes landed on the woman. She was large for a female, but still he bested her in stature. As a whelp he would have believed to have the upperhand even with a mild size advantage - but now, he was wise that size was only one factor in a fight if it were to ensue.

Vengeance. The word, his name, boomed with a bite. Mild irritation burned behind the rubies of his gaze while they bore into her, analyzing. Who are you and what do you want.

he turned to her with defiance in his eyes, and it stokes her own flames within her. the goddess holds her tongue and allows the larger male to speak. his name was a familiar word to her in this tongue — vengeance. she had chased vengeance for many parts of her past lives and it seemed fitting that she find him again, mortalized in this red-eyed wolf's body. Sekhmet, she intones her sacred name, her body squaring to face his. I wanted to know who walked through these sands.
