Private

Blixen was growing fast, and already she'd exhausted all points of interested in the main cavern chamber. Today found her lying on her back, legs limp, and tail uncharacteristically motionless. Her tiny lips were turned down in a frown, and even Robin's enthusiastic growls as he chewed on one of the bones nomi had brought them wasn't enough to excite her. She didn't really have a word for how she felt—sad didn't really cut it. She wasn't crying, or feeling hopeless. Really, she was just bored. There existed a finite amount of external stimulation here that Blixen could find joy in, and she'd gone through them all in the month since moving to the communal den. From the neat rock formations, to the smells, to the weird plants somehow growing in the darker corners.

A tiny pink tongue flicked out from between her lips to lick clumsily at her jowls, and she rolled onto her stomach with a huff. Robin didn't so much as look up at her as he dug the marrow out of the bone with his increasingly accurate attempts. She pinned her ears and looked away, feeling torn between wanting to selfishly claim the bone for herself or leave him be. But neither thing would bring her any amount of happiness so she dropped the idea entirely.

Instead her attention was drawn to the well-traveled incline that led back out into the forest and her heart began to pound. There was a whole world out there that she'd barely seen save for her excursions with nomi and mama, but they were always so structured and she was restricted to the immediate area around her parents. Not that they were cruel or unfair but Blixen yearned, desperately, to explore Drageda in its entirety.

She shot a quick glance to Robin, and found he'd faced away from her—likely in an effort to obscure her view of the bone, and discourage any attempts to chase him off it. She grinned and army crawled forward a few feet, pausing only when Robin's activity ebbs, until she reaches the bend. Once out of sight, she bolted for the entrance and emerged into the dappled sunlight of the redwood forest and didn't stop running until she was a few dozen yards down the well-traveled path.

The summer sun was bright, but thankfully shaded, and she looked around with wide eyes. It was the first time she'd ever struck out on her own, and she didn't think twice of the potential danger her parents had warned her of. Blixen continued on down the path with a spring in her step and a wag to her tail.

Ra had not been sleeping well. It was so very loud here, with the sea so close and the birds so happy - and while happy birdsong had never bothered the woman before, she found that it bothered her, now, in this strange place she was still learning to call home. She'd always slept during the day back on her mountain, but here, she was learning to take peace where she could find it, and here, the birds only began to quiet at night.

So she was awake, and she was grumpy, and the pitter-patter of little paws only set her teeth on edge. On her mountain, the children had known not to cross her path outside of lessons. The youngest of them, at least, seemed to avoid her like the plauge, and the older ones seemed to have made evading her into something of a game.

This child seemed unaware of her presence, which suited Raleigh, except that the woman disapproved of the child being both so far from her parents and so close to the borders (and, therefore, her person). Her job was to make sure nothing that shouldn't ever made it through this forest, this way or that. And this child certainly shouldn't be passing through.

Seeing the opportunity for some sport in this, Ra waited until the child was almost upon her before inserting herself into the red girl's path.

"Just what do you think you're doing out here?" she asked, her voice stern, but as non-threatening as she could make it. Most probably, there would be no need to menace at the girl in order to ellicit a proper reaction. Besides, Ra didn't want to overdo it, and have some mother complaining to her about being gentle with the children. As if I haven't had enough of that, she thought to herself.

Seeing as Raleigh is quite a bit larger than poor Blix, feel free to do whatever Raleigh might do in this situation. PP away!

A beast, tall and terrible, emerged from the ferns and stepped right into Blixen's path. The little girl looked upon the she-wolf and inhaled sharply as her eyes blew wide with alarm, and her breath arrested in her lungs—unable to scream for help. A half-beat of silence brought her the logic that this was not, in fact, a monster. However, her imagination was predisposed to run wild so instead of grasping onto the straw that was reason, Blixen decided to run away with the idea that this was a slavering monster. Maybe one of her mother's own beasts sent to fetch her.

So, Blixen did as any normal child would do when faced with a stern adult—shriek. An ear-piercing, earth-rending wail of a sound that was sure to offend any wolf within a three-mile radius. But as she gathered up another breath into her lungs, her cries turned to mock-fury and her little muzzle wrinkled as she flashed tiny, gaped, milk-teeth. "AHH! IMMA FIGHT YOU, MONSTER! YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!" She screeched as she took up a battle-stance.
