All Welcome
Arlo had caught wind of @Hux through Heda and he can’t help but feel delighted. His brother had left a few weeks ago for Sangeda and he hadn’t been given the chance to go. Tirgatao has been quiet and the rest of the wolves are puppies or outsiders. Having another wolf, especially after the departure of Raleigh and Ishum, Arlo makes a better effort to find and welcome them in. This time, for good. Unable to speak for the others, however, Arlo sets them aside until she latches onto a scent that brings him closer to the eastern border of the forest.

“Hux?” he chuffs out when the scent thickens enough that he has to be nearby, yet still not in view. Arlo wrinkles his nose with a cant of his head, poking around a few more massive redwoods until he finds the older male.

Hux, still in the throes of confusion towards what specialty  he will acquire, traipses the redwoods at a relatively slow pace, lost in thought. He spoke to Portia, and while  her council has helped, he knows that it will take more time to make his decision. In the meantime his belly rumbles, for he has not had a decent meal since arriving unto Drageda. Their stocks are low and not enough to feed the snowy wolf, and he craves a fresh kill. his dry mouth and roaring stomach do not let him forget it.

a white figure comes to his attention. He lowers his ears and elevates his nose slightly, inhaling the younger wolf 's scent and finding  that he recognizes it. Arlo has sought him out, and in his joy he rapidly closes the remaining distance between them, his tail waving as he releases an excited bark. "Arlo," he says, then softly continues.  "You grew up." Hux can see that the pale  boy of his memory is  no longer much of a boy.

"Hungry?" He adds.

It’s only a moment before Hux makes his way out from behind a tree and into full view. He grins at the older wolf with a wave of his tail. It feels weird to hold a rank when he does not, when in Seageda and Trigeda he’d easily been above him—at least more experienced—but to prove to the others in Drageda, he has to start all over. Just as Arlo had. “I did,” he comments, though he’d been older when he left Trigeda, he had filled out into his full size and musculature.

When Hux mentions hunger, he bobs his head once.

“We weathered a big storm, a hurricane, a few weeks ago and it ruined most of the caches,” he says with a frown. He and Eske has done their part to clear them out and try to replace them but they definitely aren’t at their full capacity. “The lake near Hougeda is a good fishing spot now, though, since the water got so high,” he explains with a slight shrug. The lake had become swollen with water since the storm and had been starting to return to its new levels. “You were the first to teach me how to fish, you know,” he comments offhandedly as he turns and directs the older brute to follow.

Hux does not mind the necessity of regaining his rank -- it is just the way of things. He has never been a power hungry wolf, content and grateful to have a home and friends within it. It will take extra work, but he feels that he needs it anyway, having come to a point in his life where he cannot decide which path to take. seeking his rank will occupy and strengthen him further, and Hux appreciates this.

The older male concedes the news of the storm with widened grey eyes, biting his lip. "At least something good came of it, he answers with a light snicker. I remember; you caught on fast, he compliments, his soft laughter having lingered in the form of a smile. Seems fair that we should try we should, uh, try our luck at the lake, then... I'll let you lead the way. He swishes his tail, staying still until Arlo starts off in whatever direction that they must go.

He is given lead after a little banter and he smirks, wagging his tail behind him as he directs them through the trees. He’s been here long enough to have a good lay of the land. A lot of his time is easily spent within the forest so finding the quickest path from where they had been standing was easy. It leads them the quickest out into the opening where their freshwater lake pools at a decline.

“It breaks off a little over here. A couple of pools are still there but they are losing their connection until it rains again,” he muses. They may or may not be lucky with what they find but he has his hopes.

Trotting down around the bank to where I branches off, searching through each one until he finds the biggest one that would likely still hold a large fish or two.

Hux follows the younger male as a path is chosen almost immediately following his words. He is quiet, studying the route with his eyes flickering all around them, so that he might create a map of the lands in his mind. Hux has a good sense of direction and does not doubt that it will be easy to find his way on his own. They reach a series of pools branching off from the lake, disconnected due to the summer's drought. He smirks as Arlo chooses the largest pool, shielded by an ample amount of shade, and moves to stand beside the younger male.

"You want to go first? Or..." he pauses, thinking. "I could spook them from the other side. Try and get them to swim toward you?" He tilts his head slightly, awaiting Arlo's opinion.

When they get to the lake, Hux speaks up and Arlo casts a glance in his direction. He offers to scare the fish in his direction and he suspects he’ll be easier company than Artaax. Teaching someone to fish that doesn’t really want to know is a little painful at times but they’d managed anyway and hopefully the boy learned something in the process.  “Come, I’ve got a good spot,” he says, swinging down with a wide girth down the eastern side of the lake. He settles easily after a gap in the ground where the water breaks off, giving them great opportunity.
