Snake felt helpless.

The boy was scared of him, and he didn't even have to speak, which gave the devilish man some satisfaction, but he couldn't do anything else. He couldn't terrify the boy with words, his biggest weapon. 

The cream colored wolf before him locked eyes with Snake, fearfully taking steps backward. Despite his doubt, despite the thoughts in his head that told him he had no power any more, he let his wicked grin widen to reveal rows and rows of bloody teeth. The boy spoke, then, voice an anxious stutter, and Snake let out a sound like that of a giggle and another gurgle of liquid. "Trouble, huh?" he thought, wild eyes widening even more.

He could imagine tearing out the boy's eyes, letting him drown in his own blood, strangling him with his own entrails. 

He could imagine it, but he couldn't bring himself to actually do it. Snake didn't feel like it. He didn't have the motivation.

Instead, Snake took a few more steps forwards and cocked his head, dripping blood and saliva onto the ground, and twitched his ears, the look in his eyes questioning. "What is your name, darling?" Snake thought, longing to be able to physically speak the words that sounded in his head.
