All Welcome
HI PACKMATES I WANNA MEET YOU

the beach - the neighbourhood

This was day one.
Clean slate.
The beginning.
wow no pressure.

After spending his first night at the Vale comfortably curled up under a bush, it were those thoughts that woke Remi with a jolt. Then, after blinking a couple of times and letting a yawn escape from his mouth, the creamy Ostrega pulled himself from underneath his impromtu shelter. I might as well start looking for a real place to stay at, he thought to himself, as he began to walk around a little bit. So far Rannoch was the only guy he knew, so he wasn't really sure if it was best he sought out the rest of his new packmates or if he waited until eventually the strangeness of his scent brought them to seek him first.

Either way he figured it was best that he got himself busy, so quickly after giving himself a good scratch behind the ear and taking a quick piss, he began to prowl the area, his nose always close to the ground as he attempted to pick up on a scent to follow: packmate or snack.

After taking some time to psyche herself up, she finally went forth to introduce herself to her packmates, specifically her newest ones. She was surprised to see that new wolves even came; but none so far were adults, continuing the theme of a safe haven for children and young adults. So she sought them out, following half familiar scents, only to realize that they were older packmates and moving away. It took until one particularly new scent for her to finally find someone.

He looked strange, gray like a mouse. She snorted in greeting, drawing his attention to her, her eyes cold as she looked him over.

alishaaaaa its been so long since we've threaded eeep!
thanks for joining c:

With his eyes fleeting over the terrain ahead and his nose still searching for a snackmate anything remotely edible and/or someone who'd be able to hold a conversation, Remi continued to move along. He'd been going for about five minutes before he came across the scent of another. But before he could find this other wolf, this other wolf found him.

Quickly, with his darker tipped ears swivelling a top of his head, the creamy Ostrega turned towards the sound, finding the dark silhouette of a young female with bright eyes. Remi remained rooted to the spot, his chin lifting as he took another whiff of the female, quickly identifying a hint of  Rannoch's own musky scent in her own.

"hey packmate" he greeted, the tip of his tail giving a brief swish to show the stranger a bit of his good natured intentions. "i was looking for a snack, wanna join?" he invited, his crystalline eyes blinking expectantly at the dark furred girl.

ayyyy! sorry airi is an asshole

while rannoch may still think her to be an entitled ass (that was a warranted opinion) she did try, for the sake of her having a place to live in the winter, rather than to inflate his ego. this attempt at "making friends" was her was of ensuring her place in northstar vale for the remainder of the year. but it didn't start off well. Don't call me packmate, she snapped firmly. My name is Airi. with that out of the way, she could move onto more important things: like food. Sure, she eventually conceded.

lol no worries!

The smile that had crept upon Remi's face was quickly diluted.
The tone of voice and her firm demand had caught the creamy Ostrega completely off guard. He blinked a couple of times, the little wheels in his brain spinning back and forth trying to find the mistake, the hidden offense that might have hidden within his words but he found none. Because there had not been any offense meant. At this quick conclusion, Remi frowned. Had he caught her in a bad mood or in a wrong time? or was this the kind od mood she had all the time?
It was too soon to know, so Remi decided to simply let it slide.

"ok, hey Airi" he corrected with a slight shrug of his shoulders. He didn't know if he should introduce himself next, for by the looks of the girl, something told him she didn't really care. "My name is Mouse" he barked finally, deciding that he did not want to alter the natural flow of the conversation.

She then agreed to join him, and Remi let the smile that had faded from his face to return. "alright, cool" he barked before turning and beginning to trot forward, his nose lowering to the floor in search of said snack.

Airi said nothing when the male complied, her ego stroked for a moment. he stared at her for a moment, and she stared right back, her gaze firm. she waited for the boy to hurry them along, but he had to further waste her time by introducing himself. as mouse of all thing. who were these people who named their children after prey-animals? and why?? nice to meet you nezumi, she said, not expecting any comprehension from him. she followed reluctantly, not liking the idea of following someone, but knowing her rank, it was indeed inevitable. what are we hunting?

Ignorant to what was going through the female's mind and the hurry she for some reason had, Remi did not rush his movements. He even stopped in his tracks, and swung his head back to face her as she pronounced a word foreign to him. "hmmm?" he questions, his bright crystalline eyes seeking Airi's before her next question made him turn forward again.

With his mouth slightly parted and his nose taking in all the different scents around him Remi studied their options. "i think we could track down some rabbit, or if you want something bigger we could try for deer but the scent around here is more stale so we'll have to go further" he barked, his nose twitching as he analyzed again the air. He was no expert of course, but he had always liked tracking and finding things. That's why back at home, he was the hide-and-seek king.

he questions her, but she provides no answer, continuing to walk alongside him. rabbit was paltry fare, and Airi had yet to hunt down a deer, so she smiled, a hint of recklessness in her tone. let's go after deer. she knows little about hunting big game, having sustained herself well on small creatures such as rabbit while wandering in the south. deer she had only seen be hunted by her birth pack, and little more. she had scavenged, sure, but the thought of hunting down a beast, even with help, was attractive to the young dragoness. she allows him to lead the way, only because he seemed more knowledgable in the whole affair, having suggested it in the first place. once she got a good understanding, she would no doubt go after one on her own.

Airi answered almost instantly, and Remi, glancing over his shoulder at the dark furred femme only gave a smile as response. Though the conversation between him and this packmate/potential friend was not flowing as Remi would have wanted to, he was content to have her join him in a hunt. Now he knew that bringing down a deer just the two of them would be a challenge, but never had Remi backed down from anything that promised to get his adrenaline pumping.

He continued to track down the animals, his feet moving fast as he moved through the slopes of the Vale with Airi at tow. With every step they took the scent grew more intense, and after a few minutes they found themselves closer to their target: a four member herd that grazed in the distance, made up of a big, adult buck, three young does and a fawn.

"pick" he barked whilst turning to Airi, his crystalline eyes falling upon hers before darting again to the unsuspecting group of ungulates. He didn't know which one he would pick to be honest. He knew they would have a much better chance of bringing down the fawn obviously, but because it was the only one Remi also knew he was the most protected of the group. As soon as they tried to get near him all three does and the buck would turn on them.

Airi trotted behind the male, keeping her body low, but not sliding on the ground just yet. not until the stench of deer became stronger and stronger.

she had never hunted deer before, only occasionally eating the rotted corpses she found, and passing those herds that knew she was no threat. but when she crouched beside him, scanning the herd, she knew who they were going to hunt, even if he hadn't given her the choice.

that, she said, her eyes glittering as she fixated on the crown of antlers that had begun to sprout from his head. i want his horns,

Without even bothering to look at him once more, the dark colored female made her choice, her voice unwavering. Had Remi been a more experienced hunter himself he would've stopped Airi right there, or hell he wouldn't have even let her be the one to pick. But for some reason, Airi's overconfidence had spread onto Remi and had clouded the (little) common sense and judgement he had.

"they'll be all yours" he promised while shooting his packmate a crooked grin, maybe thinking that saying it out loud would make it more possible. These were the kind of stupid antics Remi lived for.

With a final glance at the target and the other unsuspecting creatures, Remi began to crawl forth, his ears pinned to his head as he breached the distance between the big buck and themselves. Then, with a quick gesture of his tail he gave Airi, who he assumed would be right behind him, the green light. Inmediately, the cream Ostrega launched himself forward, his paws moving fast as he began his persuit. As expected, all does tried to protect the fawn while the buck, after a minute of confusion noticed their 'predators' were outnumbered...

she barely saw the wild grin on the boy's face, turning her head slightly at the approval in his tone. she smirked back, hers equally mischevious and wild, but with a hint of malice inside. her eyes flared, Zennyo's dragon spirit fueling her body. she was tempted to burst forward after the affirmation, but knew that she had to wait first.

but the moment she saw this nezumi crawl in front of her — well. she got irate. Airi stalked forward by his side rather than trail behind him. then, she surges forward, headed right for the buck, barely paying attention to the wolf she had paired with.

Before Remi could say anything else, she was off.
He jumped forward too, a bit disoriented by their initial lack of coordination but quickly catching up to the dark furred shadow. It was when the buck's met his eyes with its own unwavering gaze that Remi knew something was wrong. Or would be wrong. He could not yet tell what, but his most primal gut feeling was telling him just one thing. GET OUT.

"fuck" the Ostrega cursed under his breath, his voice then raising to issue a frantic warning to his hunt partner who was furiously set on the buck. He then felt his blood turn to ice as he watched the animal, instead of trying to evade the pair of wolves, steer towards them. "leave it!!!" he barked to Airi, as he tried to skid to a halt and change his course. He only hoped he could get out of the way before the buck barreled through.
Oh, and he also hoped Airi got out of the way too.

she doesn't think. she never really has when hunting; she simply acted. and it had worked for her in the past. but she had never really taken on a buck before. does and fawns, sure, but with mouse's presence, she was bolstered.

but the buck did not run, as she expected a deer to do in the face of a predator. instead, he charged. Airi's eyes widened. she veered to the side as best she could, but she felt the burn in her side. she tripped, and rolled, landing in a dark heap in the grass, dazed.

should we close this up? we can fade and play it as if Remi called others for help or just stayed with her being useless lol

How he had gotten out of the way in time would forever be a mystery. Without a second look back he had jumped forth, landing and rolling in the grass just like his dark furred companion. The only difference was, she had not been as lucky. Thankfully, once with the predators in the ground the buck had decided to retire along with his little family rather than staying to use them as rugs for the stupidity.

Remi stood slowly and shook the dirt off his shoulders.
He really was lucky to have escaped only with a bruised ego.
"you ok?" he asked, his expression switching from dazed to concerned as he saw her still laying in the grass. Maybe it was harder for her to rise back from defeat, but he just wanted to rule out the worse.
