Djehanne watched the sky fade to black. She listened as the gleeful cries of songbirds faded to the gentle murmurs of sleep and watched the shadows of ground crawlers disappear with the day. Above her were the lights of billions of stars; she had always believed that they captured the spirits of those lost and held them for all to admire. It didn't seem like much fun to her, having everyone watch you while they went on with their lives. As far as Djehanne was concerned, the closest to paradise anyone would get was right there beneath her.
She bent down to take a quick drink from the river, but stopped when she noticed the bright greens of fish swimming under her nose. They seemed to glisten in the soft moonlight, and so Djehanne looked on in awe, studying their movements. She mimicked them, stepping smoothly from one side to another, then settled back onto her hind quarters with a hearty laugh.
