The mud-caked puppy romped closer to her youthful companion and nipped playfully at her before bounding away before Amelie could retaliate.

"Am-lee fun-ny!" Junior crowed, the way she spoke breaking words into distinct syllables. "Ha! Ha! Ha!" she added, an emphatic imitation of laughter she'd probably picked up from her father.
