@Celephais :)
Backdated to Sept. 19th. Its going to be a miss for Vaati this round.

Vaati moves silently, roving towards the unsuspecting injured doe with ease. Caution seeped in his every step lightens only when he gets close enough to spring, and when he does, he brings the doe down with him. Minutes later, he rips apart what he can from the bodice as a whole, knowing full well not even him in his massive frame can drag the beast as a whole back to Blackfeather Woods. Not without alerting passersby of his kill and the potentiality of them stealing what is his. So, he starts to dig a big enough cache to preserve the remains from intruders, until he can return to bring back what is left for his family. It is a territorial instinct, one of many the man holds to the point of aggression; what is his is his. Turning his back to the limb which he intends to return to the dark woods with, he busies himself with quickly storing away what remains of the once agile creature.

Celephais' ears twitched toward what seemed to be a scuffle in the distance, but her interest wasn't fully roused until she made out the telltale scuffing of paws pulling dirt away from the earth. What in the world? wondered the loner, who rose from her makeshift bed in the gnarled roots of one of many incredible pine trees. She didn't have to search long. Vaati was making a racket, so she need only follow her ears. What she found was better than she could ever have hoped for. As she poked her head over a clump of undergrowth and spotted not only a massive wolf digging, but a massive pile of fresh meat, Celephais couldn't help but to salivate and hungrily ask, "hey, uh, think... think you got enough there to share?"

Will do my roll with my next post. :D

His head snaps up when another speaks from behind him, breaking him out of his work-related trance instantly. It is a feeling he hates, a situation where he is the prey facing away from the predator that lurks behind his back and he internally scolds himself for not catching the stranger's scent sooner. Vaati drops the limb into the cache instantly, inclined to protect what is his from the intent of the stranger. His hackles raise accordingly. "No," Vaati snarls lowly, before turning to face her fully. The only thing that stands between them is the chunks of fresh meat that she could easily steal away with, if she dared. It would be a foolish move in the presence of the spiderling, but the stranger doesn't know that. Perhaps she only sees what she could have, and at that thought, he lets out a warning growl, leaning forwards as if to take possession of what is his.

Sorry for the wait on this, should be quicker from now on!

As the stranger's head lifted and his eyes fixed on her, Celephais snatched back her ears and wiggled her tail hopefully, but she ought to have known better. Truth be told, she wasn't one to share either. Her gaze skimmed over his prickling hackles and she dropped her head between her shoulders when his response came in the form of a snarl. A less brash wolf than Celephais would take the hint and leave—Vaati was a formidable size, doubtless he knew how to throw his weight around—but she was hungry and unwise, and there was a hunk of meat right there. Besides, weren't large wolves like that supposed to be slow and dumb as rocks? So with a whip-quick glance back up at the hulking silver-and-gold man, Celephais darted forward, shooting her muzzle low in an effort to grab something from his pile.

its all good :D

He anticipates it early, knowing that the hungry don't simply walk away, but when she lunges she is fast, snaking out in attempt to snatch a piece of what is his from under his nose. True, he is big, but he is not slow nor is he dumb. Instead, he reacts in lightning speed, protective over simple dead meat but his catch nontheless. Almost as fast as her does he lunge downward, aiming to snap his powerful jaws around her snout, the closest thing he could get to at that moment.

Based on your roll here, treated it as a miss for now.

Celephais was flying, or at least that was what it felt like when adrenaline and determination mixed together into a deadly cocktail of daring. But even before she reached the meat, her pale eyes slid sidelong toward the hulking male to note that he was already moving, and it took only a second to realize that if she committed to the meat, she would also commit to being trapped in his jaws. The smaller of the pair slammed her forepaws into the ground and redirected her momentum, springing away from Vaati just as his teeth closed on the hair of her nape and yanked out several tufts. Yowch. She didn't try to counterattack and was hastily looking for a way out, but the sudden change of direction disoriented her and she spun in place a moment, unwittingly opening herself up for another attack.

Yep! lmao sorry, I meant to clarify that in my earlier post but I forgot lol. Hit for Vaati.

She stumbles out of reach of his jaws, narrowly missing the opportunity to latch his jaws around what he could but pulling out tufts of hair in the process. He spits it out sourly, before narrowing his eyes and launching once more, simply aiming to barrel her over in her disoriented state, attempting to further discombobulate the girl into a checkmate. His legs extend, aiming to crash right into her side and throw her much smaller form to the ground, a feat easily said and done for his size. But there is the possibility of an early recovery in which she anticipates his move and would imply side-step away from his assault. It had occurred before to him, and he did not dismiss the possibility when he did so.

By the time the woman put her heels to the dirt, Vaati had recovered from his botched attack and was lunging for her again. She flung herself forward and squeezed her eyes shut, hoping that she would narrowly clear his jaws again, but her luck had run dry. She felt the thud of his broader body connecting with hers and then the dull pain that accompanied being bulldozed by a much larger wolf. Celephais kept her footing for only a moment before Vaati's strength proved overpowering and sent her into a tumble. As she slammed into the ground in an awkward half-roll, the loner shoved back her shoulders, flung her forelegs up to act as poor barricades, and struck for any part of him she could reach with a quick dart of biting jaws. She knew she couldn't do much to him—Celephais knew what she sucked at, and fighting was definitely it—but she had to try if she wanted to get out of this in one piece.

Miss.

Vaati barrels her over easily, but she is stronger than she appears, and successfully holds her ground for many moments before pushing a last-ditch attempt at swiping at anything and everything she could with her jaws. And she does, nicking him multiple times, however, the position they are in does not allow her the advantage of fully taking his skin in her canines. She barricades herself from him, pushing against his weight and in turn, disallowing him to use his teeth as well. Snapping at her face, he knows, will not get him anywhere. He backs off momentarily only to rush in again by repositioning his attack and aiming down for her neck. The need to end her life isn't as prominent in his current desires, not so much as the simple need to get her away from his kill. If she chose to run, she very well could, and Vaati would not have the drive to chase her and the only thing that saves her from that fate is because he knows it is not in her intent to kill him. She is fighting for survival now; he, his food.

Powerplaying Vaati landing a hit with permission.

How she succeeded at keeping his superior bulk from bearing down on her, even if just for a moment, Celephais would never know. Adrenaline was doing most of the work now. She was successful in that attempt, but when the hefty male drew back and then struck again, she wasn't quick enough to deflect his path. His teeth dug into her neck and panic took the reins, forcing Celephais to buck wildly to her feet, tearing away from him in the process before he could get too tight a hold. Although his teeth tore through flesh as she fought for her freedom, she turned and fled from him as soon as she could, understanding at last that being cunning was never going to win this fight. The food wasn't worth her life, though it had quite possibly cost her just that to be defiant, since the flow of blood down the side of her throat was more than a little worrying. Celephais wasn't focused on that; she just ran and ran and ran.
