All Welcome
Another day passed without fanfare and the weather had stayed much the same. He had adapted, at least he thought, rather well to the differing climate. Whatever arid experiences he had endured were now replaced by draughts of salty cool air, and of course a dampness that seemed to linger over a better part of the world as he knew it. The clouds that had been overhead decided for lack of better things to do to leave and in turn the night was remarkably clear; moonlight reigned and turned the landscape into something new.

Of course, it was all new to Dirge. All of this was uncharted territory and he forged a path across it where he could. When the plains had finally gave way to softer sands he had ventured onto them with refreshed steps. The coastline was wet but not as crisp as the night air; the sand seemed keen to hold what sparse heat from the day it could. This, combined with the ever soothing rush of the ocean as it rolled onto shore served only to lull him into a wearisome daze.

It was this contentment with the world that drew him towards the towering sequoia with little regard for what may have laid within. He had scarcely made it past the first row of such trees before a yawn split his jaw clean in two, and his next step nearly put him in a hole where once a tree had been. This misstep was enough to jerk him back to awareness with electric intent as he walked such a faux pas off; his eyes scanned through those surroundings briefly to acknowledge that no, no one had seen him... and that his mishap had been caused by the lack of roots and tree to direct his course.

The tree of course hadn't simply disappeared, however. Instead moonlight revealed to him the twisted and mangled roots of the old sequoia and where it now laid on its side. Time had overtaken it with a menegerie of growth, but beyond it there was the untold story of some calamity he had no idea of. His steps paused as he drew in the span of destruction, his body tensing at what sort of close danger could do such a thing. It had obviously since long passed now and better that it had he decided, as he did not want to be on the receiving end of whatever unseen hand was at play.

Moving along with the lull of the ocean in his ears again, Dirge also decided to keep his wits about.

The perfect place for her to start c:

The sun had faded hours ago, the lingering light giving way to the jet-black expanse of darkness. An ocean of dark hovering above the sea, luminous stars dim compared to the hovering silverline orb glowing in the blur of night.
The night hides flaws; hides the imperfections the day brings to light.

Tokala allowed her eyes to trail along the canopy of light freckled across the darkened sky. Even in the pitch black there was enough light to shine down upon her flaws. The sea rumbled along with her discontent, crashing at the shore as her emotions churned in a swirl of confusion and sadness. The ripple of sand shifting and changing.

She was the sand. She was the rolling waves. She was the sea.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of her maw. This was a new place, a fresh start. You need it. She huffed out a breath, attempting to breathe out her negative thoughts. She peered at the ocean once more. Now it appeared calm, soothingly receding and returning upon the shoreline. It’s all in how you perceive it Tokala.

A crash sounded from behind her. Tokala’s skull whipped around to face the tree line at the edge of her hindlegs, her eyes squinting into the obsidian darkness. Her auds flickered in response to the noise, her paws already padding towards the noise. “Hello?” She called quizzically, her voice somewhere in between a tremor and curiosity.
