@Koume ? ;)

It was during the early hours of the morning when he first set out, dark ginger paws taking him to no location in particular. Kieran had woken with an itch in his paws and he felt as though the best way to lose said itch was to wander, simply let his legs carry him to whatever destination they pleased. Besides, most of his time had been spent in the territory of the Morningside wolves, and when he went hunting he caught prey in Morningside but also in neighbouring areas. Away from there, though, he had not gone. He had not yet explored the entire land around them, and this was also something he wished to do.

By the time he reached the lake, the sun was beginning its descent, and along the horizon he knew the moon would soon rise. The sky itself was already a mix of fiery hues, but with the fall of the sun would bring a change in those colours - soon enough they would turn dark, and the stars would shine if the clouds did not block them. The young hunter stalked his way to the edge of the blue water, ears perked atop his head to catch any sounds around him. Head lowered, he began to drink the cold liquid, appreciating the soothing feeling it brought to his previously dry throat.

Perhaps he should head home soon.

Silent rage grew into an open fire deep within the thin body of the firstborn. Vaati had done nothing to deserve Nyx's blessing. All he had brought to them was trouble. But nooo, he deserved that spot above the very first to exit their mother - all because Koume was not physically strong nor someone that could impregnate the Dark Mistress. Life was unfair, she had learned long ago, but never would she have thought it to be this cruel. It was against sunset that she decided to make her way to somewhere she could take out her rage.

Her nimble form slid through the grasses, to the lake where she had been found as a child on the edge of life - The cursed lands that had made her lost - only to realize she was not the only one there. She snorted with a grumpy expression, boldly making her way to the edge of the water. So close to home, no harm would come to her. She had nothing to fear.

Tired yet unblinking eyes looked at him as she swallowed her fair share of water, never closing to enjoy the feeling of being out and about.

The silence was broken as a snort reached his ears, and the boy lifted his head from the water to peer at the newcomer. Dark and thin, like a shadow were it not for the silver streaking down her back. As his gaze met hers, he found himself rather intruiged. Her eyes were odd but interesting, he thought - One a vermilion colour, the other a striking emerald. He had never seen a wolf with two eyes of a different colouration. Her scent was that of wood, plants, and something poisonously sweet, whereas his own was of wildflowers and something you could not so easily place a finger on - something comforting and homely

He said nothing as she began to drink too, but Kieran lowered himself back onto his haunches and watched for a short moment, until he decided to greet her (warily so). "Bonjour," He spoke cautiously, remaining where he was rather than approaching. After all, he had no desire to have his ears clipped off, and he could sense her indignation. He did not, funnily enough, have a death wish.

He took his seat and her tongue stopped lapping up the water, muzzle floating just above the surface as she observed. Why did he not just leave? There was no reason for two strangers to talk unless one needed the other. He didn't seem like a guy that needed her talents - if anything, he seemed friendly, like he got along with everyone well enough. The outside world wasn't made for wolves like him.

She didn't know what to make of the word he spoke and a single brow rose to indicate this. She took her seat as well, not completely facing him. Bless you? She tried in her rather raspy voice.

He grinned slightly when it became clear she did not know his home tongue. Bonjour had been the first French word he ever learned, and it was still one he loved, even if it was the simplest of them all. "Hello. It means hello." Kieran chuckled, forest eyes glancing at the ominous wolfess. Perhaps he should not laugh - angering her was again not on his to-do list. Still the anomalous girl was interesting, perhaps due to the contrast; in her eyes lingered darkness, and yet the hue of those same eyes were colourful.

The boy flicked his smooth tail, wrapping it around his paws.

Her head tipped to the side, confused with the strange boy. Why not just say hello then? She asked. She had yet to come across a wolf that only spoke another language aside from English, so if everyone could speak English - why not just speak that then? Understanding each other was much simpler then. Well, at least he had her attention now, something that was not easily gained from the firstborn. Her thinly figured turned fully to him and she scooted just the littlest of bits closer.

The shadowed girl questioned the reason for his use of the word, but he just chuckled again. "Well doesn't it mean the same thing?" He noticed her turn her body to face him and as she shuffled a little closer he grinned. "There's no use in learning another language if you never use it." He leaned down to lap up the cool water again, glancing up at the odd-eyed wolfess again as he finished and sat up.

It was understandable - if she had not heard another language besides English then it must seem odd, but he'd known French since he was younger. His mother's teachings would not go to waste.

Exactly - why waste time on it? She replied rather cold, sounding more and more as the Dark Master that now controlled their woods. There really was no use for it though. If the most common tongue was English, for efficiency's sake, speak it! There's no use for it at all, in my opinion. She didn't mumble it either. Her opinion was dear to her - had it not been for her hardcore mindset, she would not have survived past a few months.

"Because not everyone speaks English. There are many reasons to learn another language." He replied, giving a small flick of his tail as he watched the wolfess with a spark in his eye. "It's not for everyone - there's no need to learn a language if you really don't want to, but for some it means something to them, like it could be something passed down through their family." He nodded at his own words, relating quite to that fact. After all, he only learned French from his parents. He had to admit it was something he was glad of - he'd met a couple of wolves who also spoke the language, and it was always nice to see that.

Then they must learn - just like you must learn to leave girls alone when all they want is a drink. She huffed, finally realizing she was just wasting her time discussing the issue. She would never in her life speak another language other than the most common - there was lesser room for error that way. Thanks anyway - for wasting my time. It felt good to say this, no matter how he may react, but she gave him nearly no time to do so as she took one last sip of water and then went on to go back home. Not that that place was anything better now...
