She does not linger in the southern cliffs but she does find herself in the sound where it meets one cliff wall. She lifts her head, trailing up to the top to realize it acts as a barrier from one territory to the other. The only way back to Drageda is to go around but she is tired and itchy and really, she just wants to rip all of her skin off her body. The sand is rough against her feet and acts as a little help when scratching. The tips of her feet are red and scarce in hair though she doesn’t care anymore. Her fur in general is weird and perhaps this will help it but she can’t focus on that.

Furi turns her head and looks to the water rolling in and she slowly moves to meet it. The water is cold the moment it touches her feet, and burns in some places, but it soothes. The girl stays there for a moment, the cold nipping at her toes but they do not itch. Carefully, she takes another step on the wet sand until all four feet are soaked. She considers drenching her entire body in the water but hesitates, afraid the cold water will do more harm than good. At least for now she has some relief on some part of her body.

With everyone settling in decently on the island, and with few members to keep in check, Faeryn had decided to head to the mainland another time. Not because she particularly liked it, but because she wished to hunt there - prey was beginning to grow scarce and with a lack of prey came even tougher survival. Many of those on the island could have already passed, had they not grouped up upon violent arrival - that storm hadn't only crashed her against the shore, after all, but many others too. Some had stayed, some had not. But as Beta it was her duty to do all she could for them. Even now, having temporarily taken over the role of alpha, the straggly group of survivors were her main priority in all that she did. She had nobody else.

The blue wolfess had travelled across the bridge between the Isle and the mainland the moment the tide had gone out. Moving swiftly was something she did with ease, but that did not make her any less cautious. For she knew the power of those ocean depths, Fae had experienced them first hand. The sea was not something that should be messed with. Approaching the stretch of land she saw before her, the wolfess let out a sigh of relief. Soon she would be safe on the mainland, without the pressing worry that the tide would come back in while she was still going across the land bridge. After finally making it across, she promptly lowered her hind into the sand and stayed there for a moment, wondering what exactly to do next. Hunting was why she had come, she supposed, so that would be a good start.

Faeryn began to pad along the coast, making decent use of her time by catching all she could. Or, that had been the goal in mind, at least. One stray rabbit (what it had been doing this far on the shore she had no clue, but she would not make waste of the opportunity), was being carried by the dove, limp body dangling from her grey muzzle least elegantly. A good stretch of time passed, and that rabbit remained the only thing she caught. However, by this point, something else had snagged her attention. A scent, not of prey, but of wolf. Rewind a few months and she would have left them be and gone on her way, not wishing to have to socialise with anyone, but now she was openly seeking conversation. The blue she wolf kept walking, until at last she spotted a figure in the distance, a mix of brown and grey fur, standing in the water on the shore. For what reason she did not know, but Fae decided she might as well go and try to find out, tired as she was - no more hunting for now. Regaining her energy was a better idea.

"Hello?" she called, the sound slightly muffled from the corpse in her mouth. She remained a steady distance away, unsure whether this wolf was friend or foe.

Eventually the burning of her paws begins to fade and it offers a weird painful release. The longer she stands in the water, the more appealing to dunk the rest of her body in. She can fight off whatever the water gives her, right? Green eyes stare down at the rolling water, washing in over and over. Slowly, she takes another step deeper. The caps of the waves crash against her chest and the underside of her belly. The chill sets in chest as fast. Her tail sweeps up and avoids the water and her head remains high to keep most of her still dry. One hard crash, however, sends her back and she shakes, retreating quickly.

She does not notice the encroaching figure until it’s too late, either. Furi shakes out her fur several times, catching the figure from the corner of her eyes. Features are already distinguishable and it’s a matter of seconds before she’s close enough to speak.

Hello?

Furi shiver a little but the burn of her skin has begun to ease. Ah, relief. “Hello,” she repeats, ears falling back against her head. She glances behind her shoulders to see the rise of cliffs in the distance, assuring herself she isn’t that far from home. “Who are you?”

Oof, sorry for short post

As she was noticed, Faeryn curled the corners of her mouth in a slight smile. She placed the rabbit's body down by her paws, then looked up at the stranger. "I'm Faeryn, nice to meet you." She introduced herself, then glanced at the sea where the wolfess had previously been until the retreat. "Are you... okay?" The Alphess chuckled, tilting her head. The reasons for the other being in the water were unknown, but she had found the escape from the waves a little amusing, she could not lie.

Everything refocuses when the other speaks again. Furi stares blankly a few seconds as she tries to process the stranger—Faeryn—introducing herself. Her nerves takes a little longer to finally settle and she lowers her ears, looking to the kill the other has brought (she hadn’t noticed it before) and offers a weak smile. The chill has settled in and she tries to ward off any obvious trembling. “Yeah,” she says and licks her lips, shaking out her fur once more. Water still flings from her pelt and it’ll be a while yet before she’s properly dry. Furi opens her mouth to speak again, to explain why she is wet, but she quickly snaps her teeth together again. “I’m Furi.”

She smiled gently, noticing but not saying anything about the little shivers from the other wolfess. Faeryn stepped back a little to avoid the spray of water from the other's coat, raising a brow. "Why were you... in the water?" She asked curiously, though no answer was really needed. She was just, well, curious.

She smiled again. "Nice to meet you, Furi."

The stranger—Faeryn—asks her about the water and Furi’s ears fall back, smiling a little awkwardly. Part of her doesn’t want to tell her why, embarrassed that she feels like scratching her skin off. By now, she can feel the itch again all over, especially in the spots that have opened up into sores near her rear and on her toes. “I was… I was trying to clean my feet off,” she explains, though it is vague at best. She holds one foot up to show the raw toes, lacking in fur, and feels heat rise in her cheeks of embarrassment. “I was going back home to find out healer but I stopped here and the water cooled them off.”

They don’t talk much longer. She hears a call from the direction of Drageda and she dismisses herself for return home.
