All Welcome
There is no Shadow King.

I know that, she mumbled to herself, exhausted. She was sleepless, though, and when the sun went down it began to become difficult to convince herself of this thing she had learned was truth overtime. Her tiredness fooled her, and in the night she saw all sorts of things. But she did get some sleep, and this helped her retain perhaps the last of her sanity.

But being alone did little for that.

She meandered through the glade, her eyes large as she took everything in. These surroundings were new. She needed to get to... where was it, the Maplewood? Her stomach rumbled, and Sesi jumped, frightened of how loud the sound had been. Her tail wrapped uneasily around her hock as her ears flattened. A blustery wind caused a tree branch to brush against her, and Sesi let out a scream and made a run for it.

There is no Shadow King...

He had spent a good few weeks in the maplewood, but Shale soon grew restless, and lonely, too. It was time to move on. Continuing his journey southward, he passed through marshy ground and open fields before reaching yet another small forest.

Shale had scarcely taken a few steps into the place before he heard movement, and saw a silvery figure sprinting through the trees, eyes wide with fear. It grew closer, and he saw it was a frightened girl--no, woman, for she had reached adulthood, surely. He stood still and watched her, wondering if she'd notice him first. Perhaps not; she seemed in quite a panic.

"Excuse me, miss," he called out to her, tenor voice carrying across the glade. "Are you all right? Are you lost?"

She ran a short distance in a full-sprint before she realized nothing was after her. She slowed to a bouncy trot, and the leggy woman soon pulled to a stop. Her head turned and the whites of her eyes could be seen when she was spoken to, and she took many steps backward in her shock.

Was she alright? Was she lost?

Yes, yes she was lost, Alexander, Nanook, Desna—have you seen them? she asked from afar, content to keep this large distance between them. She was desperate to know, and her voice had an almost pleading tone to it.

Alexander. Nanook. Desna. All names completely unfamiliar to him. Shale shook his head ruefully, voice apologetic as he replied, "No, ma'am. I've not run across any wolves with those names since I've been here."

He very nearly turned to go, but his generous heart won out, and he stayed put where he was, giving the young lady a kind look. If she was truly lost, he could at least escort her in the direction she thought was the right way to go.

"Can I assist you in any way?" he asked, with a cordial bow of sorts. "Where are you headed?"
