All Welcome
As Ramsay aged and grew, so did his curiosity for the things that laid beyond the small, dark world of the den. There were two ways to leave the cave, and the dwarf boy often tested both. The first was an entry leading into the Spiderlings Glen, with its high walls and the enticing rumble of its waterfall. That entry was large and yawning but aptly hidden by a curtain of vines. Ramsay found these to be great playthings. The other entrance was better hidden, a crevice at the back of the cavern leading even deeper underground. He was forbidden from going that way by other members of his pack, but he often wasn't stopped if he went the other way.

Today he popped his head and hunched shoulders out past the vines, blinking wildly as gloomy sunlight filtered down on his raven black scalp. It was colder outside than in the den, sending a shiver down Ramsay's shortened spine, but there was no opiate-addled adult wolf keeping the outside warm. Potema continued to lurk in the den and continued to keep her distance from her cubs, but with many of his milk teeth having blown out of his gums recently and the inclusion of squishy regurgitated meat to his diet, Ramsay hardly noticed her neglect anymore. Her ambient warmth was appreciated, but he could regulate his own now, so though the outside was chilly, it didn't deter him.

Bold as only he could be, the cub wiggled another step forward and plopped his hindquarters clumsily on the ground. It was a comical, if not grotesque, sight: his hind legs, when folded, reached his elbows, and his entire body seemed to hunch in on itself so that he was nothing but head, shoulders and hocks. He barked up at the sky, tongue lolling, and gave his short tail several excited wiggles.

It was a while before Maegi discovered there was a whole other world outside the den. With no mother--at least a coherent one--nor father to escort her into said world, she made her way out herself, marveling at the vines that tickled her as they brushed against her snowy pelt. She stumbled out, only to discover her little brother was out already, sitting and calling to the sky.

With an excited little squeal, she romped awkwardly toward him, coming to an abrupt halt that nearly tumbled her off her feet. She touched his little head with her tiny nose and smiled, then batted him playfully on one of his floppy dark ears.

While their basic needs had been met, the pups had been robbed of the traditional experiences of childhood, owing it all to apathetic parents and a pack which most members likely thought of them as vermin. The trio had had to rely on each other, playing and socializing with each other while Potema lay delirious at a distance from them.

The sky didn't respond to him, eliciting a comical cock of his head that involved the entire bulk of his shoulders moving as well. The bright disc from the night before was absent, as was the shadow that crossed over it, leaving the sky motionless save for the snail's pace of a few passing clouds. Ramsay wondered at the change in the sky, but his attention span—and the interruption of his sister—didn't allow him to ponder it for very long.

What was his siblings' fascination with pawing at his face? Euron tended to target his snout, and this time, Maegi went directly for his ears after patting his scalp with her chilly nose. The boy twisted awkwardly to try to trap her paw with his mouth, betraying his general lack of flexibility as he toppled over sideways instead. His short tail wiggled as he aimed several playful snaps at both her ankles, having never once noticed that one of these things was not like the other ones and showing no discrimination in which one he went after.

He had taken on some of the duties of keeping his younger siblings alive, rabbit's meat gurgling in his stomach as he walked to the Glen, ready to be reguritated for the little bastards (he said that with fondness, rather than his mother's curses). It only was a year ago that he was the crippled one — born small, barely breathing — and now, there were two more to take his place. He remembered the first time he had seen them, how he cringed at the short one's neck, felt a twinge of sympathy for the girl's mangled paw. They would never be normal, but really, what did that mean? They were being raised by a pack of wolves who worshipped a spider god.

He slid down the Glen's slope, barking a greeting to the two crippled kids. They were playing out in the clearing, wrestling as best as they could with their limitations. He couldn't help but smile at them; it was cute, in a weird way.

Her head snapped up as she saw the reddish wolf approach, abruptly quitting her play with Ramsay. She had seen him before; he had brought nourishment, and the basics of care. He had a smile for them, at least, and she gave him her best approximation of the expression back, black lips lifting in a grin.

Drool pooled in her mouth as she picked up the faint scent of meat. Leaving Ramsay's side, she padded over to the older boy and rose up on her haunches, poking at the corner of his mouth eagerly. Food? she asked silently, stomach gurgling with sudden hunger.

Maegi moved quickly, pulling her ankles out of Ramsay's limited range as she turned and hobbled away. He tried to peek up and over his breast to see who was coming, but an uncomfortable twinge at the base of his skull coupled with his nearly nonexistent neck made that impossible. He rocked back and forth on his spine several times, whining as his useless legs flailed, and for the first time ever, Ramsay knew what it felt like to be a turtle.

It took longer than it should have for him to figure out how to right himself. Lacking the requisite flexibility, Ramsay had to get creative, using his legs as airborne fulcrums to heave his body onto its side so that he could hop to his feet. By the time he returned to all fours, Maegi was already rearing up against Ganondorf's chest and rooting around at his muzzle for food. He was quick to join her, only he couldn't reach that high with his short back and neck, so Ramsay had to settle for his nose poking into Ganon's breastbone and whimpering excitedly. He recognized the crimson wolf from times before, but now he was old enough to associate him with good things: warmth, food, and the closest thing to family Ramsay had besides his litter mates and Vaati.

They rushed to him, and he laughed at their eagerness. He wished he could remember the feeling, of watching his mother or his uncles come down the slope of the Glen with food on their lips. But it was too far away, and his mind had changed and matured several times in his lifespan.

The black-footed girl hobbled over to him, rearing up to nudge at his muzzle. He gently pushed her away, waiting for her brother to move to him- oh. The boy was on his back, left there by his sister after their wrestling bout. He watched with curiosity as the neckless boy rolled from his back, using the momentum of his legs to move his body from his back to his paws once more. Ganon's tail thumped. Rijes aōt!

The boy didn't let the hurdle stop him, and soon enough Ganon felt the boy nudging harshly at his chest. Alright alright okay. Jeez, kiddos, He didn't blame them for their eagerness. His mother was somewhere tucked away, ignoring them. He lowered his head, letting them poke and prod at the corner of his lips. Then he felt it: wait...wait...there!

The steaming chunks of rabbit fell from his mouth and plopped onto the floor, hot and ready to eat. Ganon licked his chops, the acid burning his throat slightly. He stepped back, letting the kids run eat as they pleased. He sat back, watching them swarm. But after a few seconds, he remembered something — Ain't there a third one of you? He asked them, though he knew they wouldn't answer. Even if they could speak, they would be too busy eating to answer.

Sometime down the road in his life, Ramsay would probably get to experience what Ganondorf was currently experiencing, and would wonder how he hadn't proceeded to vomit immediately afterward. Present day Ramsay only thought of this as food, for which he dropped his feet to the ground when Ganon's throat gurgled with the telling blork sound. He whimpered frantically as the prechewed rabbit meat was deposited on the ground, and eagerly fell all over the pile.

By the time he had filled his relatively small belly, Ramsay was a mess. Smears and chunks of meat were matted into his coat. There was even one tucked up under his armpit. He plopped onto his hindquarters momentarily to attempt to scratch at it, but thanks to his spine he was unable to reach it and ended up merely shaking and hopping up to his feet again. He tilted back his head to stare up at Ganondorf's crimson face, and only then did his lips part into a broad smile and he babbled something nonsensical.

He loved food, but he loved attention more given the rarity of it in his life.

She was wondering where Euron was, but outweighing that curiosity was hunger, and Maegi lunged forward, devouring the hot meat Ganon had deposited for her and Ramsay with an almost violent sort of vigor. When she had finished, she sat back, licking her chops and staring blankly off in one direction, her stomach gurgling in faint protest from her having gorged herself so quickly.

Maegi then noticed Ramsay; the boy was covered in food, poor thing, and wasn't able to clean himself properly. Touched by some sort of sisterly affection, she began to lick away the scraps from his glossy black pelt, making sure he at least wasn't going about the day with meat stuck to him. Kid had troubles enough as it was.

With one last affectionate lick atop Ramsay's head, she stared back up at Ganon, smiling. Was this it--was he merely the bringer of food--or was he going to socialize, too?

He watched with a smile as the kids swarmed onto the heaps of meat he had spewed from his stomach. He licked his chops now and again to rid himself of the slight acidic taste and smell that permeated around his lips. He let them eat to their hearts content, unsure of when to step in. How was he supposed to know what was 'too much' for them? He supposed that was better for a mother or real father to know. He had just been tossed into this, not expecting to spend so much time caring for the kids.

It wasn't long that the shortnecked one had become a mess. Ganon's face twisted into a mix between a smile and a grimace, cringing at the sight of the meat slicked onto the boy's body, and smiling at the dopey words that babbled from his younger brother's mouth. His younger sister attempted to clean her brother. Aw jeez, kiddo, He smirked, but he unwilling to eat his own vomit. Instead, he grasped the boy — not by the nonexistent neck, but by his lower spine, between the boys front and rear limbs — and carried him over to the Glen's pool.

When Maegi's tiny tongue stroked over Ramsay's coat, the boy almost twisted entirely and fell over himself to nip playfully at her muzzle. Sadly, he lacked the spinal flexibility to complete the motion or turn his head that far and ended up merely flailing in place until Ganondorf intervened. He was hoisted by his back into the air—a sensation that was relatively unfamiliar to him—and because there was no pleasant sensation from his miniscule nape telling him that this was normal, the boy did exactly what boys tended to do: kicked, squirmed and fussed until he was deposited into the shallow water at the very edge of the pool.

Maegi let out a raucous giggle as Ganon took Ramsay to the pool, setting his body unceremoniously into the water, dirty pelt and all. He was a bit stinky, true. She padded over to them, her ungainly gait slowing her down a bit, wagging her stump of a tail.

She touched the surface of the water with her shorter right paw; it rippled out in circles, stirring the smooth, cool expanse. Maegi lowered her muzzle and took a long drink, taking care not to get the liquid in her nose as well. The taste of it was crisp and fresh, full of life.

Maegi drew close to Ganon, enjoying the heat emanating from the older boy's body. It was growing colder day by day, and her pelt was not thick enough to ward off the winter chill by itself.

Despite the fuss, Ganon managed to place the boy directly under the waterfall, letting the cool water flow over the boy's body as a kind of natural shower. He kept his head nearby, making sure his younger sibling didn't drown in the water's torrent, nudging the boy every once and again to make sure that every inch of his body was cleaned off, or at least as much as he could get clean.

He drew the boy out, tugging on his mid-spinal area again. Alright. You look ok, He said, lapping at the boy's wet body to warm him. He feels a small presence against his side. He draws away, looking at his little sister pressed against him. Ganon smiles, and his tail wraps loosely against the little girl. C'mon. Staying in the water's only going to make you both chillier. He walks out of the pool, shaking his pelt lightly.

He spluttered and kicked all the harder when he was unceremoniously plunged into a sheet of frigid water. Ramsay curled his limbs in as close as he could to his body, an awkward effort for the likes of him, and did his best to endure both the chill and the poking and prodding. What felt like an eternity passed, Ramsay fighting it all the while, until finally Ganondorf withdrew him from the waterfall and deposited him onto the bank. With high-pitched whimpers that protested against his impromptu shower, Ramsay shivered violently, calming only marginally when Ganon began drawing a warm tongue over his wet fur.

She flinched a bit as Ramsay shuddered, sending icy droplets her way, and drew back further into the shelter of Ganon's warm, fiery-orange pelt. At least the boy was clean, now. Reflexively, she nosed around her own pelt, checking for stench. Seemingly satisfied with the results of her search, she yawned and pressed against Ganon's leg, smiling in contentment and repletion.

Maegi was thankful for the company Vaati and Ganon, and of course Ramsay and Euron, gave her day by day. She was growing up to crave company, and the quartet provided both love and entertainment for the growing girl. Perhaps it was the lack of a strong female presence that led her to be a tomboy, to be wary of women, later in her life. Perhaps it was due to the contempt Potema seemed to feel for her.

Because with brothers like these. . .well, who needed anyone else?

He takes them both away from the pool's shores, to a part of the Glen that would be just that bit warmer that would keep them contented for a bit. It is there that he starts to dry off the small gremlin, feeling his youngest sister curl up beside him contently. Every once and a while he steals a kiss to her, nuzzling her as close as she can be to him as he dries off Ramsay. There is a calmness, a normalcy about this whole endeavor that feels strange to him, something he had never encountered before in his life. He relishes the feeling with each passing second as Maegi drifted off beside him and Ramsay was eventually warmed and dried by his minstrations.

It took a little while, but warmth gradually wormed back into Ramsay's bones and muscles, and he eventually drifted into a fitful sleep. When he woke he would remember Ganondorf both fondly and with a touch of uncertain fear—for if ever Ramsay would look to one of his relatives as a leadership figure whom he might take an order from, then Ganondorf with his brusque manner was the one.
