He didn’t recall attacking anyone recently, unless they’d come too close to home, that is.  And she wasn’t bothering him.  Very few ever did.  He didn’t quite catch on to the playful air she had; sarcasm and innuendo were two things Gannet had never really learned to grasp.  He said what he meant and figured everyone else must do the same.
