All Welcome
Theia had been chased from her pack about a month ago. Now, she found herself wandering aimlessly in the Teekon Wilds, bitter as ever. She'd shed a lot of her weight, and she didn't have much to begin with. The young adult had never known hardships like this before in the shelter and support of her natal pack. Sure, she was a good hunter, but when one is alone, the fruits of your labor remain few and far between.

Perhaps worse than that was the lack of attention. She deserved worship from loyal followers who could see her value and power — something her family disgracefully could not. She had Nocturne and Amarantha, but they were fleeting. They came and went as they pleased, not restricted like mortals. Like... her. Oh, how dearly she missed her otherwordly abilities. While she loathed the thought of anyone considering themselves above her (or even equal to her, honestly), she was beginning to think perhaps she could swallow her pride enough to tolerate it if it meant protection and regular meals. Her current plan would be to either find or form a new pack, greatly preferring the latter, but beggars couldn't be choosers. For now, what she needed to focus on obtaining was food. Oh, how the mighty had fallen.

As the silver she-wolf mused, her legs continued to mindlessly take her through the wilderness. She ended up in a maple forest peppered with birch trees, though they were all dormant now. Unfortunately, she wouldn't be staying long enough to witness the place in full bloom. Eventually, amidst the maple scent came a new one. It was rancid, far from fresh, but to a starving beast such as herself, it was a godsend. Theia picked up her pace to a trot, saliva pooling in her mouth more and more as she drew closer to the source of the smell. Finally, she came upon it — a rotting bull moose. There wasn't much left, but she would make the most of it. She quickly got to work grasping any scraps with her incisors and tearing them off, scarfing them down before repeating the process. Theia was so engrossed in the task and eager to fill her stomach that she didn't pay ample attention to her surroundings.

Unable to stay away for long, Sif had journeyed once again to the ocean. @Wardruna was probably worried about her, but she'd brought back some sand and seashells to appease him, as well as to help decorate their new home.

She was trotting along through the Maplewood when the delicious scent of rot made her stomach rumble. Brown ears swivelled atop a narrow skull while a dark, leathery nose twitched and flared. The dark girl paused and set her shells - bundled in tough shark skin - on the ground, kicking a bit of dirt over the parcel before heading off toward the scent.

Her hackles rose as she realized someone else had made it to the carcass before her. Not quite sure she was willing to fight the other just yet, Sif snuck closer and nabbed a bit of meat before retreating several paces to scarf it down.

Theia was blissfully unaware of her visitor until it nabbed a piece of her kill. Fueled by hunger and raw instinct, a growl tumbled from her chest, ears flattening and face contorting into a threatening snarl towards the unwelcome guest. Get your own meal, She venomously spat, standing over the carcass possessively. Theia was a loaded gun with the safety off right now, aimed and ready to fire if triggered. She was already selfish and let her emotions control her, and now she was starving, too. It was a recipe for disaster.

Sif understood the other girl's meaning well enough, but she'd been ranging these lands for several long weeks, now, and this was the first time she was smelling the other girl. She'd become possessive of this area, and of the things that could be found within it. The rocks. The carcasses. The women.

"Mine," the girl retorted, baring her teeth at the other. She wasn't particularly hungry, but she thought she could take on the other wolf. It was the principle of the thing, really.

The audacity of the other wolf to not heed her words added fuel to Theia's fire, and she snapped. In the blink of an eye, she launched herself at the brown wolf. Her jaws parted with the intent of viciously clamping down onto the other wolf's muzzle and violently shaking her head. She was seeing red and would kill this wolf if she could — maybe even eat her.

Sif, ready and spoiling for a fight, saw the other's attack coming a mile away. Still, she was far too close to avoid the hit altogether. Angry jaws raked against her own, leaving scorching red welts upon her muzzle that would quickly well up with blood. And then the teeth caught on the sink at the side of her neck, clamping down and dragging her from side to side before she was able to wrestle herself free, leaving the other wolf with a sizeable chunk of fur and a smaller piece of flesh that had been painfully misplaced.

Ears pressing forward, the girl charged right back, attempting to bowl the other over by throwing her weight low against her and snapping her jaws at the other girl's belly. That way her back was bared most readily to the other - and while it made her less likely to hit her own mark, she'd rather save her own skin than mar another's.

Theia felt a rush of ecstasy throughout her body in satisfaction of landing her nasty mark on this fool. Perhaps she would wear those scars caused by hers truly for the rest of her days. But it unfortunately didn't last forever, and the other wolf slipped free of her merciless jaws. They clacked shut when she pulled away, the delicious taste of copper blood stained on her tongue. She spat out the clumps of fur marring the taste. Theia was so pleased with herself that she wasn't in a rush to attack the other wolf again, and so she was the one to be attacked.

She was bowled over onto her back, which caused her heart to sink into her stomach in a flash of panic. She instinctively drew her legs up to protect her underbelly, but it could not prevent the pinch and sting of white teeth into her soft flesh. Theia let out an angry snarl that trailed into a pained cry and quickly drew her head up despite the pain to try and grab onto the other female's muzzle again. Hopefully, the pain from the damaged flesh being torn at again would persuade her to cease in her attack. If successful, she would quickly scramble to her feet and take a few steps back to bring them back to a neutral position.

Now that she was brought to her senses, Theia was thinking twice of trying to make a meal of this wolf. There was a reason they ate herbivores and not each other, though if given the opportunity at this point she wouldn't pass up the flesh of her own. No, not her own; she was above them. She did as she wished, even if she had to work with a weak body. Still, she would brace herself to see what the other wolf would do, hoping she would kindly buzz off. But this was assuming everything went accordingly.

Although she was certainly feeling her injuries, the pain hadn't quite hit her yet. She knew she was hurt, and that it had been foolish to meddle with the other when she could have moved along, but Sif had something of a chip on her shoulder, and a whole lot left to prove before she could learn to easily let things go.

But there'd been a lesson here, and as the two disentangled - the other girl leaving yet another ugly mark up Sif's dark face - she began to take it to heart. When they'd separated, Sif mirrored her foe, standing a few yards away with wary eyes and bristling fur. Her tail was ramrod straight, but even with her hocks instead of raised above. She wasn't quite sure what to do next. Retreating would turn this tie into defeat, and the girl's Cairn blood violently rejected the idea.

The girl curled her lip, raising her tail above her hindquarters and pressing her ears forward atop her head. She wasn't sure she wanted to keep fighting, but she certainly didn't want to back down. In a halting movement, interwoven with violence even in its hesitance, she began circling around the other, so that she was no longer between the wolf and the carcass. Instinct told her that it was the wrong place to be.

Theia had lost her itch for a fight as quickly as it'd come on, already finding the stinging in her stomach hard to bear. She expected the other wolf to come at her again, but if she didn't then she'd expect her to move along. The stranger did neither, instead seeming to be hesistant to leave yet hesitant to fight. It irked her that the other wolf took on a dominant posture, so she did the same, raising her lengthy tail as high as it could go. When she circled around and left an opening, Theia gladly moved herself to be over the carcass again, though she ensured that her back was never fully turned to the stranger.

If this fool wanted to come at her again then so be it. She would greet the wolf with open jaws and relentlessly attack the same spot to cause as much pain as possible, but only if she came at her. Theia just wanted something to fill her stomach, at this point. This particular carcass wasn't even a prime one, but it was a combination of her hunger and her stubbornness that kept her rooted here. Tense and ready to strike, she waited to see the stranger's next move.

The other was just as stubborn as Sif, and stood opposite her with the same fierce and cagey look upon her face. Neither of them attacked in that moment, and the stiff ridge of fur along Sif's spine gradually began to settle as her pride left her. The pain of her wound was settling in, a dull throbbing ache interlaced with sharper pains from the cold air around them. A tiny whimper slipped through her teeth, but she was no less ready to face the other than she had been before.

She'd been foolish to start this fight. She could see that, now. And a tiny shred of admiration for the other's tenacity had grown in her chest - but they were still at a standstill, and her pride was too much to overcome with kindness even as her weariness was too much to overcome with pride.

You do something, said the grumpy expression upon Sif's face.

Surprisingly, the other female did not come at her again. Theia's tense muscles unwound slightly, feeling it was relatively safe to assume she was finished. Finally, she thought, lowering her head to tear off another scrap of meat from the carcass, though her ice-cold glare never left the stranger even for a second. Now that she had a moment to breathe, she realize how utterly exhausted she was from that scrap, short as it was. Theia was ready to collapse, but that wasn't an option so long as this wolf was around. She was already famished, then this cretin had to come along and make her waste precious energy. And now, she had a bleeding wound on her stomach to boot that hadn't ceased in its pangs.

The woman went back to eating - something that grated endlessly against Sif's nerves. If their struggle ended with this ceasefire, victory would go to the other. The yearling wasn't able to handle that.

Tail held stiff but low, she drew closer to the kill, warning with her teeth that the other had better not stop her. And, inching forward, the dark girl attempted to dine on the carcass as far from the stranger as she could, hoping that she could get away with it and at least claim this victory.

Theia's whole body went stiff again when the red female approached. When she bared her teeth, she couldn't resist but to return the gesture with a low growl. However, while not pleased with having to share—especially with a wolf she'd just fought—she was grateful that they didn't have another go at each other. Solely because she was exhausted, she tolerated the other female, giving her a wary glance every now and again but otherwise keeping to herself. Dining with an enemy... Such were the ways of desperate beasts, she supposed.

Sif ate as slowly as she dared, heart pounding all the while. Her appetite had diminished almost entirely during their fight, but now came back twice as fierce. Her nerves, though, would only allow her to eat for so long - just long enough to prove a point before she was darting away to pick up her seashells.

On the way back around, she gave the carcass a wide berth, mentally tipping her muzzle to the tenacious stranger.
