My god, they were beautiful... The herd seemed to stretch for miles across the plains, nearly blocking the lake they were crowded tightly around from view. They were magnificent, so strong, so sturdy and powerful. Solid. She could tell that they was caution in their steps, wariness. But not nervousness... Which was good. It meant they hadn't caught scent of her yet, nor had they spied her crouched beneath the thick boughs of a smattering of underbrush a ways down the plains.

Probably a sane wolf would have known that a large herd of bison was not wise to try and tackle on their own. But then again... Fin had no desire to "tackle" them, per say. Her belly was nice and full from a pheasant she had managed to snatch before dawn that day, so hunting was really quite far from her mind as she stalked her prey, lips peeling back in a bare-toothed grin.

She crept forward through the brush until her head and forelegs popped out into the light. The sun high above caught the rich brown eyes that glinted with mischief upon her anxious face. Her tail wagged softly against the ground where she laid, barely able to contain her eagerness as she waited for the perfect moment to stalk closer, and then to finally take chase.

he had followed them also, murky eyes shining with something akin to pleasure as their scents rode hotly in his nostrils. lasher paused in his steps, ears flicking forward at the thump of their heavy hooves against the earth. his stomach clawed at him; curling his lip, taltos moved forth.

momentarily, the witch-wolf crouched in the grasses, sable belly-fur brushing the ground. he was not a worshipper in this moment; bloodlust washed over him, and it was only the sight of another that distracted lasher from his quest. she was misted shadows wound with smoke, feminine. from his position, he could not see her expression, but rather hoped she had the same intentions as himself. ravenous as he was, taltos could not fathom bringing down one of the large ruminants alone, even a calf — the hooves of its mother and horns of the lead bull would be close along the heels of of any attack he could muster.
