Nikai offered Steph a painful smile as she came up by his side. "'m fine," he said, though he very clearly wasn't. What he tried to say was that he would be fine in due time, but speaking was hard right now. He leaned into Valette as she said something about getting him to safety, though to Nikai, the bison and what they were doing was far, far away; he didn't realise that they might yet be in any danger should the bison return. He vaguely heard some commands being called out and just nodded as if he was the one following them up. His gaze was blurry as Nikai leaned against Valette, needing the support as he was guided off the hunting fields.

Valette helped Nikai back to safety. She would trust the others to keep an eye on the herd. In the meanwhile, she made sure Keoni would be summoned and Nikai would be treated for his wounds. She waited for Keoni to arrive and assess the wounds. Unfortunately, she couldn't talk but Valette was already pleased she could do something for Nikai. Now only time would tell if the young male would heal properly.
