Murdock's ears fell flat against his head as Valette mentioned that Steph was hurting, and only just a little girl. "I don't know how to make her see," he said gruffly, not quite comfortable with the amount of emotion he was showing Valette. "She won't listen to me. Just because I have another friend now doesn't mean how I feel about her changed."

He'd said as much to Steph, but the girl hadn't believed him. "What can I do?" he asked her, eyes pleading. It was all well and good for Valette to talk to Steph, but Murdock knew there needed to be something more said between the two of them as well. How was he supposed to fix this?
