Ravensblood Forest falling like ashes to the ground

All Welcome
For @Samothes, @Screech and @WhisperDawn but AW. Quick paced thread to help get RBF established. :)

There was a certain rigidness in the shadowrunner’s posture as he paced forward – his eyes were fiery, roving the shadows of the forest before him and his jaw remained clenched and straight. The y had marked borders. They had lived among the ravens and the woods and settled themselves. There was even the scent of another among them now – a she-wolf he had yet to meet, but trusted one of his comrades had allowed her to stay. Samothes was dutiful in his word – Durnehviir was the answer to his restless and guilt-wracked mind. Screech was slowly healing.

He found what he sought. The lone doe was limping – injured. His eyes feasted upon it with consideration, his gaze tracing the open gash along its hind leg that seemed to falter its steps. Scrapes and cuts littered its once graceful body, and Constantine noted that the most likely cause had been a devastating fall.

He did not hesitate longer – they would work as a unit. His muzzle tipped upward – the crooning howl beckoning his comrades to join him and quickly. They would not need many to take down the creature – and as his song ended, he eyed the doe, now stricken still as understanding seemed to dawn upon it. It would be an act of kindness, really. And the meat would do them all well, given the cold winter months.

Even more, it was time to start acting like pack if they were to be one.

Whisper heard the masculine howl as it traveled through the trees and made it's way to her cream colored ears. She knew not who had initiated it but she would answer it, in the likely case that it would be her soon alpha. Once at it's origin she approaches the black male who had called for the pack. She had not met him yet and introduces herself. "Hello, my name is Whisper."

he is glad, as always, for the sound of a summons from constantine. truthfully he has not paid much attention to the comings and goings of the forest -- something he should perhaps feel guilty for, but things have been silent enough that he has let himself fall into a routine of uninvolvement.

the scene is self explanatory as he arrives on it -- constantine, the sick doe. the unaccounted for variable is the woman he's not met yet. "perhaps we should save the introductions for the post game," he murmurs, voice smooth, as he comes up beside her, his nose pointed to the doe.

The boy had made a trip to the shores beyond the forest and then returned, no worse for wear. This proved to solidify his own mental image of his progress; no longer was Screech a fully dependent and infirm beast who loitered within reach of others. He could move. He could run. He could do other things too but the Redhawk wasn't about to reminisce about his adventures with Sorina, not if he could help it.

So he took to roaming the forest. Screech tended to stay one one defined path that navigated around his resting place; it would take him time to adapt to the entire forest. Thus far, he knew he liked the open expanse of the coast over the shadows and obstacles of the trees.

When the call comes, Screech is already moving to intercept. He spots the figures of two pale wolves first—then as he exposes himself and comes to join them, he can trace the dark outline of Constantine among them. Black wolves - you never see them coming. As Screech came upon them, flanking them, he bypassed the two others and came to Constantine's side, oddly quiet.

The daylight filtered through the darker trees – illuminating the golden pelt of a she-wolf as she ambled closer to him. The shadowrunnerstudied her quietly, noting that she was the scent he had been unfamiliar with. As she greeted him, the regal offers her a nod of welcome, though his own posture lifts to support his ranking within the forest – that of its first claimer. “Welcome,” he murmured, but did not go further as the ivory Samothes appeared, suggesting they wait for introductions after. He nodded in quiet agreement, and as the silver boy they had taken in not long ago came to them as well, the Mayfair felt a small smile tug to his inked lips – it would seem he was healing, now.

Approval within his gaze as he drifted it over his comrades, Constantine nodded toward their injured prey. “Let’s surround it – it shouldn’t put up much of a fight. Avoid any hooves,” he murmured, his eyes drifting to Screech who he worried injuring further. “We’ll make quick work to be kind,” he noted then, giving a nod to his pack mates as he began to drift around, making a point they should begin. As they positioned themselves, the shadowrunner looked to them before uttering a loose growl, his own stocky form leaping forward as he rushed the doe, his jaws seeking to make swift work and gain its throat.

skipping whisper with permission!

the woman accepts his advice - or seems to, anyway - and falls silent, and a third arrives to join their flank. samothes doesn't know him either, casting a quick scrutinizing glance across his silver form (the nasty scarring on his face is of interest, but otherwise, there's not much to write home about).

the scholar dips his head once in agreement to constantine's plan, muscles coiling as he waits for the cue. when their shadowed leader leaps forth samothes leaps too, curving around the doe's side for teeth to seek purchase in the soft flesh of her side.

Sorry I absolutely did not clue in that it was my turn, oh crap.

This was quite an event for the boy, who had never before participated in a large-scale thing such as a hunt. And to do so with his injury — he was frowning when the order first came, and he took a nervous look at the target, turning his head a little from one side to another as if to make a point. Look a deer! No, just black. Oh, there it was again! Oh, just black. He stopped when Constantine regarded him and mentioned, We'll make quick work to be kind, and the boy scoffed softly with a huff from his nose.

But he would help. He would try, anyways. Soon enough they were settling in to positions; Screech watched as Constantine rushed at the doe and he made sure to keep her aligned with his good eye, but still approached at a lesser speed just in case something came up on his opposite side to impede him. He wasn't sure what the others would be doing so he waited for them to get in to position too before picking up speed. Although he had one eye, Screech was surprisingly fleet of foot — he came at the doe eventually and began snapping and scaring her, keeping her in line so the others could get at her.

Whisper followed the others and went behind the doe, she was quick and vigilant. She carefully watched for the animals powerful buck. The she-wolf was not looking to get injured today. She waited for the others to make their move, seeing as they were closer to a spot where they could kill the creature quickly.

Constantine’s eyes would catch glimpses of Screech every so often – ensuring the youthful silver wolf was not impaired by his hindered sight. He had known the loss of one eye to endanger one’s depth perception – but the boy seemed swift enough and revealed no weaknesses. He chose the role to drive the doe toward his pack mates, and the shadowrunner was quick to take the collaboration to advantage.

Between the three attackers, the doe would fall. Constantine made to ensure a quick death once his jaws found purchase upon the doe’s throat, and with a massive shake, he aided his companions in bringing the creature to the ground. The snow was painted red, and the Mayfair allowed his tongue to brush out across his lips, cleaning them before his eyes cast a piercing glance toward his comrades. “Well done,” he rumbled, his shoulders rolling back to stretch out a muscle that now felt stiff.

He paused then, nosing at their fallen meal before tipping his muzzle up to the sky – releasing a resounding howl of victory, eager to share this moment with his pack mates. If they could hunt well together, they would thrive.
