All Welcome
Early evening. Cloudy. 25°F / -4°C. Winter storm warning in effect.

Weetzie sniffed the cold evening air and scanned the clouds in the darkening sky. He could be sure that a blizzard was approaching. Perhaps an open field occupied only by a frozen stream wasn’t such a good place to be, but he figured he could find shelter soon enough.

For the past few months, he had been even more unsociable than usual. He hadn’t even sought out @Witchbaby, his beloved sister and the one other wolf he truly cared about. He wouldn’t admit it, but he harbored resentment towards Bhediyon, the pack that he had once considered joining. He had returned to the plateau months before to find it abandoned. Even the would-be alpha had vanished without a trace. He remembered how he had questioned his sister’s ability to commit to a pack, to be loyal, but out of all of them, his sister was the only one left. His restless, wandering sister had been more committed to the pack than its leader, and that angered him. He couldn’t admit it and certainly couldn’t put into words, but the situation had left him feeling betrayed.

It was no excuse for him to run off and leave his sister alone, but what was a socially awkward coywolf supposed to do? Seek out more wolves to abandon him? Wasn’t he better off alone? Sure, the wolves he had met in the Teekon Wilds had been friendly enough. He had even found most of them pleasant to associate with, but what good was that without stability? Without loyalty?

His stomach grumbled as he sighed heavily. He picked a mouthful of snow and let it melt in his mouth before swallowing it. He looked around looking for any small animals that might be around to hunt, but the land seemed barren. He finally turned towards the treeline to the south. Perhaps he could find some shelter there, or maybe in the mountains to the west.

bruzza! :3

the failure of bhediyon does not weigh so heavily on the starlet as it seems to do her brother (though she of course has no clue to his feelings -- hell, she hasn't really made an effort to keep up). after being rebuffed by the pack on the coast wb turns on her heels and heads back south, picking a direction she hasn't been yet. it isn't quite as fun to traipse circles around the teekons as it used to be without kinkajuú or even the thought of her to keep her warm.

she's not looking for weetzie - she never is, honestly - but his scent is a welcome find as she flings herself after it with alacrity, voice sharp in its cheer: "weetz!" and lathes him with her customary tongue-bathed greetings. "aw, jeez, it looks like it's gonna snow somethin' fierce, huh?" no mention of the myriad failures that dot her narrative horizon, no need to evoke worry from her dear brother.

@Indra was not usually far when Laurel was wandering about, but she'd let her sister out of her sight for a short moment when she noticed some figures in the meadow bordering their pack. It took Laurel some time to actually get to them, but she felt curious, not just out of protectiveness but also to see if there were any boys that she could wind round her fingers. The scent of heat still clung thickly to her and she was eager to abuse the powers that she had been granted.

As Laurel approached the duo she noticed that they looked more like coyotes than wolves. She slowed down, head erect and ears perked forward curiously. Normally she might've left then, feeling endangered by the possibility that these were coyotes that would try to maul her, what with them being with the pair of them, but the heat caused a flush in her cheeks and a boldness to her actions. Besides, making a coyote fall for her seemed like an even bigger challenge and she was eager to see if her powers worked on them, too. So instead of turning tail and fleeing, Laurel woofed at them to announce that she was there, waiting to see how they'd respond to her presence.

Weetzie jumped, slightly startled by the voice of his sister calling his name. He wagged his tail slightly to welcome her and braced himself for the overly affectionate greeting that he knew was coming. After enduring the greeting, he layed down and rolled in the snow as he spoke in his usual monotone voice. “I am pleased to see you you again, Witch. It has been some time.” Satisfied that he had sufficiently wiped off his sister’s slobber, he got back to his feet and said, “Indeed. I believe we in for a blizzard. I had in mind to seek shelter in the woods to the south.” He gestured towards the treeline in the distance.

It was then that a he noticed an unfamiliar scent in the air. He wrinkled his nose and sniffed, analyzing the scent and trying to identify it. He heard a bark from nearby and turned to its source to see another wolf, who also seemed to be the source of the new scent. He sniffed the air again, but he couldn’t find any of the usual smells from the wolf as the new scent overpowered all others.

Although he couldn’t identify the smell, he finally decided that he found it pleasant if not intoxicating, and very few things could frighten a young, awkward, unsociable coywolf more than a pleasant-smelling female. Had he been alone, he might have turned tail and fled, but he didn’t want to leave his sister alone with a stranger with a blizzard approaching. Instead, he tried his best to be polite, but his nerves got the better of him. He stood crouched down with his ears pulled back and said, “H… hello ma’am.” Perhaps his sister could handle the situation better.

she does not get long to revel in her brother's company before the scent of something rich and alluring hits her nose. and what does it accompany but a girl, and a fine looking girl at that -- not so striking as some she's seen, but certainly nothin' to scoff at. and her scent! witchbaby's never smelled something like it before, and while it doesn't fill her with the instinctive magic it surely is enacting on her dear brother, it makes her heart race and her paw pads prickle.

lips parting in a slow, lazy smile, the coy-girl drapes herself across her brother and fixes heavy-lidded pink eyes on the stranger. "hello, darlin'," she croons, "what brings y'out here in this gatherin' storm?"

As she watched them Laurel wondered if the pair were a couple, though the female did not seem very threatened by her presence at all. Ears perked forward curiously as she watched them, though they didn't seem hostile at all. Of course, this made sense to her because why would anyone be hostile to her in her current state of being, but it was nice to have it confirmed. As she realised this Laurel padded a bit closer to them and called out a friendly and bold "hey there!" to them as she neared.

Weather wasn't exactly Laurel's forte but she even knew something was going to go down soon. Yet in her mind there was plenty of time to head back to Bearclaw Valley before it'd hit them. There'd been many storms lately and she didn't want to be confined to her pack when she had all this power at the tips of her paws. Laurel smiled slyly at the male who seemed terribly bashful, shy, or maybe simply submissive. Perhaps to wrap around her fingers. The girl didn't mind her presence and just asked what brought her out here, considering the weather. conditions. "Just wanted to see about making some friends." As dainty as she could, Laurel padded closer to the pair and she stretched out her neck, intending to touch noses with the dude. "I'm Laurel. What about you?" Her eyes briefly flitter to the girl before falling back on the guy as she waited for a response.

Under normal circumstances, Weetzie might have been annoyed by his sister crawling over him, but in this situation, it gave him some comfort to have someone familiar close to him, especially when the girl said she wanted to make friends. Weetzie wanted to have friends as much as any other wolf, but making friends was not his strong point. He was thrown off even more by the girl’s scent, so much that he momentarily forgot about the approaching storm.

Being close to his sister at least kept him from trembling as the girl drew closer. When she reached out to touch noses with him, he stretched his neck out towards her as well, but he withdrew after only a split-second of contact. “P… pleased to meet you. I… I am Weetzie,” he stammered. He guessed it was time for an introduction. “And this is my sister, Witchbaby.” He found it easier to introduce his sister than himself. He was used to be being on the sidelines without much attention focused on him. It was his sister who actually liked getting attention.

as soon as laurel's nose meets weetzie's, wb extends to follow suit, oblivious to her focus on her brother. "y'can call me wb," the coygirl croons, "an we're always real glad to make some friends, right, weetz-weetz?"

sliding off her brother's side the starlet stretches out, stepping closer to laurel with a flashing grin. "prob'ly oughta find somewhere warm to wait out the storm," she says, pink eyes flicking to the gathering clouds, "an' you're more'n welcome to join us." faced with the pretty girl, her past failures -- kinkajuú, the mean girls of the beachy pack -- melt away, leaving her feeling embolded (and frankly, frisky.)

Laurel didn't have much interest in keeping the girl around, but when Weetzie introduced her as his sister neither did she feel quite as defensive. She glanced at Witchbaby momentarily, but then decided it would be better to string both along than try to go for the guy. If they were anything like she and Indra, she'd never be able to drive them apart. Not in one meeting, anyway.

"Weetzie... That's gotta be the most adorable name I've ever heard," Laurel said with a sparkle in her eyes as she smiled broadly at him, watching his face closely to see what effect that might have on the shy guy.

They mentioned finding shelter for the storm. Laurel wasn't too sure she wanted to be holed up somewhere with two coyotes she didn't know; especially considering her current state. But she was interested to see how far she could stretch their interest in her nonetheless; how long she could keep them from finding a safe place. "Aw, no — let's do something fun instead," Laurel said, tail waving invitingly.

Weetzie wasn’t used to being called adorable or cute or anything similar, except by his mother which he had often found annoying. He wasn’t sure how to respond to a strange female (albeit an attractive one) saying his name was adorable. When she smiled at him, he relaxed a little and smiled back. Even so, a meek “Thank you,” was all he could manage.

We was concerned that the girl didn’t want to find shelter but wanted to do something fun instead. He assumed she meant playing some sort of game. He really wanted to find shelter right away, but he figured he would be outvoted since his sister would probably rather play or show off or something. They still had at least a few hours before the blizzard would hit, so maybe it would be okay.

He was also concerned that playing and having fun was not really in his nature. He was usually more serious and worried about being responsible. He wasn’t sure how to respond to the girl’s suggestion, but he figured it would be pointless to argue (and he found himself not wanting to disagree with her and he wasn’t sure why). He looked to his sister with uncertainty. Surely she knows more about having fun than he does.

the first couple times miss laurel seems to miss her attraction, witchbaby pays it no mind: she's workin' her charm and this takes time. but there is no dance without a dancing partner and she isn't oblivious. slowly she blinks between laurel and weetz, thinking: oh yes she would like to have fun but weetzie ain't fun and, oh no she wants him for some reason and not me

but jealousy does not turn her -- no! maybe this is exactly what weetzie needs, a nice girl who will shake things up for him, even if her taste leaves something to be desired. giving her a meaningful glance that says i am hip to the cut of your jive baby girl the coywolf nudges weetzie's shoulder encouragingly, says, "oh, we're always down for a li'l fun, but you'll haveta forgive poor weetz here, he's not used to so much positive attention! like a baby lamb, this one is," she teases, then dances away from his side towards laurel, hoping to have him follow. "whatcha got in mind for fun?" wb asks the girl, grinning widely as she does, happy to supervise this little harmonization unfolding.

Laurel was undecided yet if the girl's presence was something she needed gone or not. It seemed like it would've been a real challenge to get Weetzie out of his shell if she wasn't there, so perhaps it was good that his sister was there, even if it was a little pathetic too. Weetzie seemed nervous but didn't argue with her suggestion of doing something fun together. Ears perked forward and she leaned down into the snow with her front. "C'mon, life's too short to worry all the time." Her tail wagged easily and she tilted her head to look at Weetzie in a pleadingly playful manner.

WB joined in and Laurel glanced at her as she tried to encourage her brother. It eased her a little more, for it seemed that WB was on team Laurel on this one, so far. "Let's go for a little run," she suggested. "Kick up some snow, feel alive!" Laurel closed the distance between herself and the two coywolves and booped Weetzie's nose shortly before turning 'round and dashing off. She glanced over her shoulder to see if either of them were following.

The impending blizzard was getting closer by the minute. The stranger just wanted to play, and his sister was more interested in making him socialize than finding shelter. With some embarrassment, he remembered his awkward attempt to play with Bird and hoped wouldn’t make such a fool of himself this time around.

He flinched and took a step back when the girl approached him, then she booped him and ran off. He guessed that he was supposed to chase her. He hesitated for a second before bounding after her. Chasing felt kind of like hunting, and though wouldn’t admit it, he did enjoy a good hunt, so perhaps this play wouldn’t be so bad (aside from being a frivolous waste of energy).

He let out a light yip as he propelled himself forward. He gently bumped his sister’s side as he ran past her, then ran after the girl, his tail wagging behind him as he went. He wasn’t sure what to do if and when he caught up with her, but for the moment, he simply chased her.

dear predictable brother, easily swayed by her charms (and the affections of this sweet-smelling lady, how nice!) "she's got the right idea," wb declares with a playful cackle, watching the nose-boop in action. not many she's met are as physically bold and playful as she -- damn it's a real shame this girl is straight (or at least straight for weetzie) 'cause oh baby if they could just, you know, hang out a little more alone...

but no! the focus of the game is breaking weetz out of this shell of his, so she nudges his shoulder encouragingly as he bounds forward with a yip, laughing bright and cheerful. she lets weetzie take up the chasing, darting this and that way herself through the snow with no real aim of interrupting them beyond keeping close to make sure weetzie actively participates like a good little boy. besides, running with no real goal in mind: refreshing!

They indulged in her enthusiasm and Laurel's tail waved as she heard the yip behind her. She strode forward as fast as she could, though they were faster than her so could easily catch up. However should either try to engage in physical play Laurel'd dodge out the way every time, eager to just keep on running and see which of them would tire from this game first, how long she could keep them wound 'round her finger.

maybe we can tack on a fade..? or feel free to skip fast forward to when they would definitely leave because of the storm or such. ^_^ Laurel is just gonna run around playing indefinitely basically. :p
