Rannoch and @Terance had been strolling along Sunspire's parameters when a strange noise sounded from overhead. He stopped and turned to face his Beta with evident concern; the sound was unlike anything that Rannoch had ever heard before. The "whop, whop," of the humanmade blades crescendoed with every moment that passed, and as the machine drew nearer, Rannoch pressed his ears forward as he sought the sky. In time, he spotted the device.

Rannoch's eyes grew wide, and his heart raced as he watched the silhouette soar across the sky; he was frightened and in awe at the same time, and he was far too preoccupied to realize how odd it felt to experience these conflicting feelings at once.

As quickly as the metal-coated beast had come into sight, it was gone. Although he could no longer see it, he could still hear it's monotonous call. His eyes lingered on the distance for a moment, before he turned to Terance with evident fear in his expression.

"What in the world was—" but before Rannoch could complete his thought, the beast smashed into the earth, and he turned his attention towards the distance once more. The fear that coursed through he silenced Rannoch, and he regarded the distant highlands for a long pause before he turned back to Terance.

True to his character, Terance stepped up to go and investigate what had become of the metallic bird, and although everything within Rannoch protested this, he agreed. "Be safe. Call me if you need backup," Rannoch said, his voice firm.

With an understanding between the two men, Rannoch watched as Terance sprung in the direction of the crash. He would stalk the eastern-most borders in Terance's absence, and wait for his friend to return home.
a crime so old as the sky and bone
he came untied, solid as a stone
