Set a bit after this thread. For anyone at Moonspear

Arrille had set down somehwhere near where the others were. While the others rested up, he ventured off on his own not too far away. Just to see where abouts they were, and what he could find. Maybe even catch up a small snack for himself, or something a bit big enough to share about like a large hare. He didn't know what lay nearby, and if he had known where they were, Arrille would surely have visited the pack nearby. For old time's sake.

His heart skipped a beat as he saw the figure in the distance. Charon had gone for a quick patrol to make sure the borders were safe and he had ventured out only a little bit, not wanting to go too far for the sake of the young pups in the birthing den... Head and ears were erect and directed towards the stranger, but as he neared Charon began to realise that this wasn't Floki, nor Jorunn... It was one of Jorunn's children.

He bit back disappointment as he approached and offered a faint smile to the boy. What was his name again? Eh, it'd get to him later, probably. "What brings you here?" he asked, mostly curious, and as he looked at the boy he noticed that he seemed less innocent-looking than before; and not just because of the scars that now marred his face. Perhaps he had given up his quest to find his father; perhaps he had found his father to find out that he was an ass.

Arrille spied the other as they approached. As they spoke, he recognized them. What was their relation again? Uncle? "I was moving about with a group...didn't realise I was back here" he answered back, glancing about. Now it was coming back to him, when he had come by here with Maude...

The thought of her leaving him at the borders of Moonspear brought a frown across his face. "I found him by the way" he added. He refused to acknowledge them as father however.

It was beyond Charon would anyone could miss moving past his proud, tall mountain; it was so distinct in it looks and height that he thought one would have to be blind not to see it. Yet he did not argue with the boy without a sense of direction or feel for surrounding. It did not take long for the boy to say that he had found his father, though judging from the tone of his voice he had found out what Charon had already told him back then, too.

"Told you," he said, and after a short pause added: "But it is good you found out for yourself." Charon would not likely have taken such advice from anyone either, not until he had seen with his own eyes what was truth and not.

Arrille nodded. Charon had said so. But Arrille had been so very hopeful back then. "It's shown me a lot..." But now...now he had no idea what he was to do next. And it was something he could not mention to Chusi. She was a friend, but not someone he could talk to about it.

"How's it been here since I last saw you? Last I heard you were full up after..." After Arrille was left here, on their doorstep. "Just travelling about now...if you were wondering."

The kid had sure grown. Perhaps own experience was the best way to learn such things. That was one of the things Charon'd learned from having children of his own; you could tell them not to stub their toe on the rock, but they would never learn better than if they felt the pain to remind them not to do it again.

"New pups were born," said Charon. He hesitated a moment before adding: "Some of our wolves have left because they preferred to defend someone who murdered one of last year's." He didn't want to say her name or call her his daughter -- it was too painful -- but it should say enough why they were no longer welcome here. "It was recent. We came through winter well enough and are doing good, but some space was cleared up in the ranks." He was in no hurry to get new members as their pack fended for themselves well enough and he was hesitant to let new wolves he did not know well near his newborns. They would come, and since his litter was to be the only one this year they would fend well enough for themselves as a pack with what they had.

It was not an offer, for he guessed the kid had a pack by now anyway and he was in no rush for new members. But if the kid didn't have a home yet (or anymore), and would prove himself, then maybe there was space for him at Moonspear.

Arrille was interested in hearing that. "Defending them?" Fools, who would defend a murderer? Then again, he himself had shifted the blame, so if he had been such a murderer he doubt he would come forward about it. Would no doubt shift the blame to others, so he was somewhat a hypocrite. "Loyalty is what gets respect, obviously they lacked such things." Once more, a hypocrite in his own way.

Space? For some reason, the word 'space' was what echoed in his mind. Yes he had Chusi, but that was it. A friend, and a travel partner. But still Caiaphas's words about trust and friends echoed in his mind. "Space, huh?" He glanced back in the direction he had come from.

Charon wholeheartedly agreed with what Arrille had to say. He thought glumly about his own daughter, whom he wished was still with them today. His relatives'd said that she had left, just run away, but it was still hard for him to truly believe this for he liked to think that she had adored him, like his other children. Thoughts of Julia were pushed quickly from his mind however as Arrille echoed his word with a note of interest in his voice.

For family, space was always a bit more flexible. Last time they had met there hadn't been need for Arrille to join on either side of the deal but now there were options. "Hmm. We get by well enough," he repeated, and let the sentence linger for a while before adding: "but family would be welcome." The boy, Charon thought from their brief encounter previously, had never known true family. Perhaps it would be good for him to know such. He reminded himself that he did not really know the boy, and that perhaps it was his nostalgic old mind making him think of Floki, wanting for a part of his lost brother to be in this boy, their nephew. Or maybe he was just getting soft.

Arrille looked about at the mountain. It was a sight, and possibly would be a beautiful place to stay..."Yes, family..." he murmured, quietly. For once, for the first time in a long while, his face fell. WHo had stuck by him, never left his side? A light must have gone off, cause something popped into his mind. "I...I should wish you well...cause I have a place to be. Some others to be with" he said. Yes....he should head back. Especially to the one friend that never doubted him.

It seemed as if he was in doubt for a while. Charon didn't really think that the boy had much better place to be but perhaps it was the memory of Jorunn that left a sour taste in his mouth at the word. Charon considered offering whoever was with the boy could stay too but he wasn't a saint handing out free meals and mattresses here so he witheld himself from it.

Perhaps in another time he might have been angry to see his offer turned down, but now he merely nodded and said, not unkindly, "Take care, kid." Without any further ado he turned towards the mountain, heading back to his mate and pups, for he had no further business here with his nephew and didn't want to stay away too long. He wondered if their paths'd cross again but for now, it seemed each would go there own way.

Arrille nodded to the pale adult. He would take care, and he wished the same to Charon. "The same to you..." He wondered if he would see him again. He was somewhat his uncle after all and the only family he had now. But he couldn't abandon Chusi, not after how she stuck by him.
