All Welcome
If asked to describe his daily schedule, Lucas' would be something like this: sleep 4 hours, wake up, breakfast, dance routine. Sleep another 4 hours. Wake up, other breakfast, explore the den a bit, chew on Piper or Wyatt a bit, sleep another 6 or 7 hours. Wake up, have an extremely long dinner until his belly hurt, then dance and bop away the pain until he inevitably burped. Sleep for another however-many-hours, waking up multiple times to feed, smile at his siblings, smile at his mother, and smile at Indra. Finish the day with another dance routine. About 75% sleep, 15% eat, and 10% dance. Life was truly sexy.
Cue—gasp—a curveball. Between Lucas' second breakfast and his appointed den exploration, something new had happened. At first he didn't notice it. In fact, the change had occurred when he first awoke, but it took him a good many hours to recognize that something had changed. His world wasn't dark anymore. It wasn't quite light, either, but there was definitely something very different about it that made him freeze in place, exploration forgotten.
And then his gums pulled into a wide, pleased smile, newly opened eyes crinkling endearingly, and he wriggled on the spot while the little internal beat that accompanied his life met its first crescendo as excitement overwhelmed him.

Mama @Laurel maybe? Bumped up a couple days 'cause bored of potato phase.

So far life as a mother was fairly easy-going. Laurel was exhausted a lot still, but she was cared for by Xan, sometimes his mate, and Indra. She still wanted out, though mostly because she did not think she could really be happy with double-crossing Xan around. But after his mate was still nice to her, even if she had stolen all the things that Laurel deserved, Laurel felt more sorry for her than anything else and mad at Xan. After all, she didn't deserve a double-crossing asshole like Xan either. Laurel could only hope her own boys would not grow up to be the same, but she'd teach them good manners. It might be better to teach them good manners far away from Xan but, if she would not have such opportunities because life decided otherwise, she'd at least teach them that Xan was an asshole they shouldn't wish to aspire to be like.

Life a a momma was pretty nice, though, as she loved her children more than anything in the world and she was glad to have Indra's help. That day was a little different than the days so far. They'd been growing steadily, but she had not noticed much of it because it happened so gradual. It was a magical thing to experience, knowing they grew but every time she noticed something that was bigger or better it still felt as it was all so sudden.

The same went for the lightest boy's eyes that day. She was watching him go about the den after he'd been drinking when he first opened his eyes. A smile lit up Laurel's face -- a rare thing that mostly her children got to see -- and she nosed his face to draw his attention so she could see his eyes, then softly said: "Hello there, handsome."

Lucas' eyes, a soft cornflower blue for now, blinked owlishly as he slowly turned his head to survey his new setting. There wasn't much to see. Shadows played softly on the den walls, but nothing was clear. His world existed only in smudges. A small part of his heart wanted more, but most of him was happy—overwhelmingly so—with the world exactly as it was.

He didn't think he could get any more excited, but Laurel's face loomed into view and his bladder unclenched as another wave of excitement dizzied him. It wasn't the sight of her so much as the scent that alerted Lucas, but the sight brought it to a whole new level. His tail swung across the den floor, kicking up dust and debris as he scrambled on his belly to reach the sexy grey-brown smudge that was his mother's nose with a flapping tongue ready for kisses.

His head turned towards her and Laurel smiled, excitement lighting up her face. Life had been pretty shit all round for a long time but now that she had her babies, it was somehow really hard for her to imagine that it had been so bad. She felt uncontrollably.. well, happy — happier than she remembered being ever before, for her life had been a string of disappointments and being dumped before. Now it was different. Now she had these babies that she would give a better life than she had had.

Laurel remained in the same place as Lucas wriggled closer to her and his tiny tongue lapped out of his mouth until he eventually reached her nose. Her smile grew wider still when his tongue gingerly though rapidly brushed past her nose and after a few of those tiny kisses Laurel returned the kiss with her own licks that covered half of Lucas' face with each one.

It was a great effort in the world of such a small animal, but Lucas reached Laurel's face in due time. As his tiny tongue rasped over her coarse fur, his tail thumped the ground delightedly. She returned his attention in kind, sweeping him almost literally off his feet with each enormous lap over his teeny little face. Squealing excitedly, the small piebald boy rolled onto his side and exposed his soft pink belly.

At the same time, he reached his toes out and connected them lightly with his mother's snout. They touched leather and cupped instinctively, holding lightly to Laurel's wet nose. One toe inevitably found its way into her nostril.

Laurel chuckled, her heart filled with love as the boy rolled to the ground with an excited squee. She could tell he was going to do great things -- he was already so outgoing and smart.

Lucas' paws outstretched towards her as she leaned down to tickle his tummy. Laurel chuckled again but when one of his paws poked into her nostril she let out a quite sudden, unexpected and loud sneeze on her son that made her head recoil away.

My, what an interesting sensation! Lucas' tiny paw delved a little further into the moist confines of Laurel's nose, but then a whirlwind of snot, air and all manner of microbes hit him square in the face. He uttered a surprised peep as he drew all four of his legs close to his body and his tail stirred submissively across the floor. Oh my, his wide navy blues seemed to say, that was very not sexy! He fur was damp from sneeze debris, but even so, his tail wagged harder.

Because it was gross but it was also cool and funny. He couldn't help but to giggle his babyish giggle as he blinked up at his mother's blurry face, which was out of reach now.

Laurel shook her head after the sneeze and pawed at her face to get the itchy feeling out of her nose. She wiggled her nose to try and get the feeling off, but was distracted then by Lucas' adorable giggles. Laurel softly smiled and said, "Awww, aren't you a positive lil' cutiepie." She then moved down to nuzzle his tummy again, and felt oddly at peace. These children gave her a feeling she had never felt before in her life — peace and calm.

There was nothing in the world that compared with snuggles from ma. Lucas liked his siblings well enough, about as much as any wolf liked their siblings and no more or less than that, but he felt very strongly attached to both Laurel and Indra. Mostly Laurel, of course; his crimson aunt was wonderful, but she wasn't his mom. As her cold nose descended into the warm pit that was his belly, the pup squeaked and curled in his legs, wrestling with the end of her snout with chubby paws for a moment as his sensitive tummy tried to hide behind his ribs. Rotund as he was, he failed spectacularly to hide any inch of his protruding gut, but effort counted for something, right?

Laurel chuckled softly into Lucas' belly as he tickled her nose with his wrestling. The smile on her face seemed as though glued on; she was unable to wipe it off. Eventually Laurel had enough of the nose-wrestling and she withdrew her snoot. "Time for a nap, don't you think?" she said and she nosed Lucas closer to her belly where the others slept, hoping he'd catch onto the hint.

Sleepiness was slow to settle on an excitable Lucas, but even he wasn't immune to its effects. It started in his legs, which lost their speed and accuracy in short order. Then his grasping muzzle, which became sloppy in its lunges. It descended on his body and enveloped him in drowsiness, and his featherweight eyelids began to feel heavier. He didn't even realize he'd closed them until Laurel nudged him, startling him into wakefulness just long enough to drag himself to her side and hit the dirt. Seconds later, the pup was snoring.

Laurel looked down at Lucas to see if he was catching on. She could tell by the way he moved slower that he was feeling caught by his littermates' example and the warmth that her breast offered. Laurel smiled softly as she watched him fall asleep and lay down outstretched herself, letting out a soft sigh that sounded almost happy as she pondered over how lucky she was to have such beautiful great children.
