All Welcome
Charon was proud to present his children to the rest of the pack. Each year they waited until they were round and about a moon old before they would do this. This year, most of the pack was family, and Charon was grateful to have @Lyra, @Alya and @Hydra close to his side and @Vela and @Jarilo as steadfast guardians to his and @Amekaze's side to take over their older sisters' duties of guarding the pup den. The feeling that his family was so steadfast calmed him, made him proud of his children and glad to have his mate by his side still — it made him feel trust in the wolves in his pack, and he knew that they would do well to raise these pups, too.

@Gannet had been returned home though had gotten hurt (Charon did not know the exact details, though he would make sure to ask Gannet for them later). @Lucy he hadn't seen much of but he hoped that she was doing better than when she had joined. @Drogon had been out of his sight for a bit too though Charon figured he was keeping the borders safe. Charon felt a little detached from all of these going-ons having spent most of the last month by the den's mouth to care for Amekaze and the pups. They were an unruly and loud bunch overall and had saved them from a lot of much-needed sleep.

He ushered @Arcturus, the Yams @Yama, @Yami and of course Uyo @Revui outside that day under the announcement — "Time to see the outside world!" Charon lifted his nose to howl for the rest of the pack, inviting them to share this day with the pups and meet them proper now that they were a moon old.

Gannet was already up when the call came, and it was one he'd been eagerly anticipating. Sometimes he still had a hard time noting what his position was here; so he had wondered if he would be trusted enough alongside the rest to take part in meeting them. Apparently so!

Tired from his previous restless night, he took a bit to get going, but the eagerness soon had a lightness to his step that was fairly standard. When he got there he gave Charon a smile, but remained a bit back, content to wait. A glance showed him the subject of this; they were adorable! And for once, perhaps, he'd be able to take part in seeing them grow.
Gannet's face and body are open books; you are more than welcome to distinctly notice any emotion written in his posts.

arcturus babbled excitedly as he trailed behind his father. it was a bright spring day, and while he knew so little of the world, his spirits were high as he pounced after charon's shadow with delighted gurgles.

today was going to be special, but arcturus didn't know it yet. he pranced happily with his siblings but paused as his father went past The Spot -- the place he nor his siblings were allowed to pass. he stopped, head tilted and long floppy ears swaying as he eyeballed both parents for their assumed oversight.

yet no growl of disapproval came, no sharp look that told him to tread no further. with a squeal of delight arcturus reared up on his hind legs and bounded over the invisible line, babbling absolute nonsense delightedly to himself as he puppy-trotted after his parents.

Little Yama had been dozing soundly—nap time was still an important part of her day!—when it came time to be pushed from the nest. It’d taken her a few extra moments to roll over and get up, mouth opening wide with a yawn; she didn’t understand what was going on, her mind still momentarily fogged as she blinked and stared, unseeing, at her father. Slowly, her gaze shifted over to her mother and then to her siblings, curious and confused, only to immediately snap back to Charon as he began ushering them forward. She was scared for a moment, eyes focused on the opening of the den—which had been, until then, off-limits! What was going on, why were they suddenly being encouraged to go towards that place, instead of dragged away from it? Hanging back, her ears fell flat against her head, uncertain.

But then her brother marched forward!

And her dad sang for them!

Instantly, Yama’s ears popped back up and her tail whipped back and forth, feeling assured and interested. With an excited yip, she stumbled—she’d experienced a growth spurt in her paws recently and was still getting used to them—towards the exit, briefly bumping into her brother as she pranced out of the den and into the New World.

Vela had been around the den most of her time. She had been extremely curious about her young siblings. She did not always like them as she saw her father spend all this time with them and not with her. But usually she would fight that feeling by just looking for Drogon or hunting. Vela had been really close when her dad howled.

Vela turned around and made her way to the den. She saw two pups emerging from the den. How curious. They were really little. Had she been this little? Vela stepped closer and nosed over the darkest pup, looking like her mother. There was also a brown one but she wasn't sure where that coat pattern came from. She looked at the girl skeptically but decided to greet her anyhow.

Yami was so ready for this.

She had been waiting. And waiting. And waiting to be allowed to finally explore the world outside of her den - a world that was full of sounds and scents and super cool things. She'd only gotten to see bits and pieces of that world as it had found its way into the dark little hole in which she'd spent all of her life thus far. Each piece had filled her imagination and sent her reeling with excitement. And now, she was finally allowed to reverse the playing field - today, she would get to infiltrate the outside world, and send it reeling with excitement now that she had arrived.

And that's why when Arcturus and Yama both hesitated at the door, Yami went darting straight past the threshold shrieking "Yayayayayayaya!!", kind of like she was attempting to shout her own name, but more that she was just shouting nonsense as usual. Her eyes were wide with excitement as the sun shone bright into them, blinding her, sending her stumbling on surprisingly uneven ground, and promptly faceplanting into this grand new world she had so longed for.

Undeterred, Yami rolled onto her belly and looked around, showing off her giant smile and wagging tail to the new faces that surrounded her.

As it were, everything within her little family was going accordingly--all forward in momentum, and really, quite without issue among them as springtime warmed the mountainside in the moon turn since they had come. At a month old, however, she was feeling relieved to get them moved on towards their next big milestone.. although underlined in a wariness instilled by the bad luck of her last litter's half.

But so far, no one lagged behind, and no one had found misfortune. They grew, sharp, noisy, curious, and they needed out. She needed to be able to let them see more, finally.

She rumbled fondly as their father lead the charge, and she backed him up by encouraging them forward and beyond instead of policing them back towards the darkness. Only half a stride behind him, she matched pace with her mate and knew that wherever she went, they would surely want to follow now that the boundaries were coming down. After taking watchful stock of her litter, she joined her voice in with his to help let the rest of the pack know.

Soon enough after, and she noticed others coming, curious--and she was as welcoming as a tired matriarch could be, all keenly interested in seeing how the brood took to their first real taste of the mountainside.

Curiosity kept him close most times, and now was no exception. He came trotting at the call of his parents fresh off a patrol and cut his most familiar route to the den's immediate reach quick across the little swatch of mountain. Since this wasn't something he intended to miss out on, he wasn't trying to stall this any--and he might have came rushing a bit too.

He got there and set to oogling the puppies immediately, then eventually crept in closer to get a better look. Having already seen an occasional glimpse of them, he was familiar enough.. but out like this painted them in a whole new light. Were they even that big last time he had seen an entire one, anyway? Jarilo couldn't get enough and bounced up to greet his parents properly, then zeroed in on the two brownish puppies most of all.

With @Lyra alongsided her, Hydra made her way toward the den of her new siblings. It was their first outing, and Hydra had scarcely checked in to see their progress, too keen on protecting the borders for more immediate threats. But today she approached her large family, and her blue eyes held fast to the one Vela heeded as she arrived. Firstly Hydra greeted her parents before seeking to administer rough nips to her younger brother and sister, her tail swaying. She moved toward Gannet, circling behind him before drawing up to his side to survey her new siblings, looking every bit like a woman with coin to select the best car in the lot. There were two identical girls, and her gaze panned toward Lyra before shifting back to them, head tilting. And then there was a boy who looked similar to Jarilo, who she was very fond of. She could not deny the fact that she was thrilled to see not a single wolf pale in complexion, though Vela was doing well in breaking the curse set upon those pale of fur in their family (with the known exception of their father).

They were certainly bigger, now, weren't they?

feel free to pop in whenever @Revui :) considering the size of this thread i suggest we don't do a set post order to avoid it falling silent, but just post whenever you like.

This year, none of the pups wanted to stay behind in the den's safety. It warmed the father's heart to see his pups so outgoing. The Yams seemed particularly excited, one a little more verbally so than the other, and Charon smiled as they dashed on outside after Arcturus.

Charon kept a close eye on whoever approached, though so far it was only family apart from Gannet; made sense, most of the pack consisted of family. He welcomed Gannet with a smile, though kept a close eye on the Omega's interactions with his children... Just to be sure.

Vela and Jarilo were greeted with a wag of the tail and a smile, but he allowed last year's brood to interact with the pups rather than hogging up all their time. Not long after Hydra and Lyra arrived and Charon smiled at his Beta and daughter as she sized up the pups. She seemed pleased enough, and he had to admit, so was he; they were all so outgoing and adventurous, yet he knew their instincts would keep them safe. There were no Rans this year, and hopefully there wouldn't be any Galaxy's. So far, it seemed promising, as none seemed too dreamy nor impaired. Charon settled on the ground outside as he watched them, allowing them to interact with his family and whoever else showed up of the pack on their first outing.

Charon's reaction in specific was what Gannet searched for; he acknowledged Hydra's presence with a friendly half-nip, but didn't get closer with her until he saw Charon appear. The man saw him in return, and seemed approving, if wary. That was all he needed. His tail set to now, and he smiled, eager to meet the newest additions now that a sort of blessing had been given.

He recognized the voice of the vocal one - or he thought he did. He leaned down and gave a soft howl back. "Awuuh". He wanted to see if they would recognize the voice outside the den or if they were just too dumb now.

✴        To be escorted outside of the deep dark, pushed in to the light as if being introduced to the shallow end of a pool for the first time, flew in opposition to what he had known previously. The adults hurried their children out of the den and each reacted in kind, eager to take up space in the light; chief among them was the drab silver boy, yet even as he did as he was bade (as eager as any of the others) his method was a touch slower. He lurked in the periphery of his siblings. They rushed in like a fleet of piranha to devour the world and he, eager but cautious to equal measure, coasted behind like a shark. Let them test the water - let them go first, headlong into this new existence, and he would protect their flank.

Then, within moments, the children were each investigating their own choice adult. They were having fun. Revui spotted the dark figure of his rain-sister first among the looming silhouettes, and made a line straight for her - the leviathan boldly confronting the head of the hydra. He almost reached her too, but a flash of white made his nose tip and eyes wander, and soon Revui was stumbling away from his sister and towards the newly arrived Gannet with all the finesse of a pig in galoshes. His pace increased without thought, and soon enough the tiny creature was running full tilt at this newcomer with his many teeth exposed (ready to grab and consume, or perhaps he was trying to brawl with the older boy and sink those needle teeth into something more substantial than puppy fluff).

Vela's eyes kept going from one pup to the next. There were so many! Vela expected the children to greet her excitedly but apparently being outside of the den and meeting so many other's her spotlight was stolen. She had taken her guard duty very seriously when the pups were inside, not for the pups but mostly to show that she could guard and protect. Now all these excitable potatoes of fluff were moving around her. Seeing the treasure she had been guarding, somehow she was disappointed.

Vela moved to her father and when to lie down right beside him. She was literally plopped against him as she kept her eyes on the moving furballs. They should know that she was daddy's favorite and Daddy would always pick her over all the other siblings. To her these moving furballs were rather useless, why did they need so much protecting? The young female was mostly confused than angry.

excited beyond measure, arcturus flitted in and out between charon and amekaze's limbs, a perhaps frustrating and inane endeavor, given his inherent clumsiness. he might have gotten rapped a few times for such a weaving display, and if so it hardly seemed to dampen his spirits.

he stopped abruptly as his parents slowed, his muzzle contorted into an expression of concern as he caught sight of several initially unfamiliar wolves. he looked to both parents for guidance -- they seemed at ease -- and tentatively he bobbed his head and squinted at the small congress before him.

the hardened crinkle of his gaze lifted as he recognized the wolves; it did not matter he only knew most by sight - they were potential friends! playmates! his tail started working in mach-four reverbrations, and his body wriggled delightedly as he scampered towards them.

first, gannet -- arcturus leapt eagerly at his chin, depositing a flurry of puppy kisses. whether or not his advances were welcomed didn't matter -- arcturus commited dedicatedly to showing gannet how excited he was to see him.

he was distracted by a form that pulled alongside him -- revui. arcturus redirected his energy to his brother with a soft growl, looking up in time to see hydra's familiar yet stern blue gaze.

he made for her immediately, wriggling like mad as he pulled between her legs and supplanted her with a great show of puppyish affection. he wormed between her legs, rubbing his body  happily against her. his rapport with hydra ended only as he saw jarilo -- so many faces! so many friends!

with youthful vigor he bounded over to jarilo next, whining playfully as he leapt repeatedly up and down like a child given a puppy -- he yipped at his older brother's cheek, his tail still wildly wagging.

once his affections were well known, arcturus turned back to his parents -- only to see vela resting against charon's side. determined to show vela she was his favorite too, arcturus trundled towards his sibling energetically and threw himself between her arms. he flipped over onto his back and gurgled, extending a paw to excitedly reach for her muzzle.

There were so many new faces around. Yami marvelled at them each in turn with a happy grin, not feeling at all overwhelmed by this massive influx of new experiences. Her eyes moved from wolf to wolf, raking across the trees and grass and rocks and the everything in between. It was all so exciting. She wanted to explore every inch of it, but her eyes caught on Charon, and immediately she bounced right back up and bounded over to say hello.

But before she reached her daddy, she heard a voice. Yami stopped dead in her tracks, peering around with shock written on her every feature. It was her friend. He was HERE!!! But where?? Yami spun and began to search the crowd for him, but being young and not so good at the tracking thing yet, she had no idea who it was. The little filly would not be defeated so easily though. "Haboooow?" she called, tilting her little chin back to sing as she had in the den when they had first met. She looked eagerly around her, waiting to spring at whoever answered to declare them her BFF.

Gannet was elated when not one, but three of them converged on him! He bent down to meet Revui's and Arcturus's charges, gently batting at them and allowing them to briefly nom on his paw if they were able to catch it.

His ears perked as he heard a querying howl, and he beamed. It was a fair approximation to the greeting, so he gently called a greeting back. He wondered if it might incite the others, and his eyes went involuntarily to Charon, to ensure he wasn't overstepping by interacting such. For a time he would be overly cautious.... it was wise when dealing with the leader's brood, as parents could be unpredictable when it came to their children.

She still hung back and observed at first. They were a willing lot, it seemed, and she watched them move upon the others with her watchful, stoic interest. Those of the pack who had come were welcomed, finally, and this did bring her a measure of relief--she welcomed these steps forward in their independence more than any other perhaps. So far, she was certainly pleased to see this going well, and her outlook on what was to come was a positive one.

When the interests of the pups were well settled on the other wolves, and Vela had gone to her father's side, Ame found a vantage point of her own to . The litter did not seem to need much more encouragement than this, honestly. That, too, she welcomed, even with such a scrutiny to it. She was ready to see them out, and about; they were giving her no reason to doubt this, and surely, these were good steps forward.

Hydra was pleased to see each of them moving with confidence and boldness. Not a single one of them displayed any fear in the situation at hand (fortunately for Yama, Hydra had missed entirely her trepidation of the youngest starchildrens latest endeavor). This was a relief to Hydra, who had hoped for this. Three of the four went for Gannet, firstly, and when her blue-eyed, inksplotch brother greeted her Hydra permitted his nearness and moved to graze her fangs gently atop his ear in her own roughly affectionate hello. There was no grip administered, nor anything that would keep him near or bring him pain, and as he withdrew her attention shifted to her mother and father who seemed content with the situation at hand.

Her gaze then fell back to Gannet. Her younger siblings seemed to approve of him, and Hydra commanded her darkest brother to her with a low chuff he might recognize as the sound she would always use to summon him near her to play. She had another game in mind, and she withheld a grin as she observed him. How old did children need to be to know, to understand? She could only hope that he simply would.

Charon kept watch over everything. He noted that Vela quickly came to watch over beside him rather than interact with her younger siblings now that she could, but welcomed her presence nonetheless. A fond nuzzle to her forehead was given before he looked back over the pups, trying to keep his eyes on all of them at once. Arcturus was the liveliest, bouncing from one adult to the next to see if he could somehow meet them all, while most of the others were a bit less fast, at least, and were discovering at a more normal pace. Good, because if he had to keep his eyes on four Arcturuses Charon wasn't too sure he would've been able. He nodded at Gannet when he noticed the thrall and Omega sought his approval to interact with the pups. Gannet was still here and so Charon trusted his word, and he did not think he had much of a mean bone in him anyway. There was enough trust between them to know that Gannet'd care for the pups.

As Arcturus' gaze landed on Vela, Charon nudged her shoulder briefly to alert her, in case she missed it. With a soft smile he watched as Arcturus trundled closer to his big sister and then flopped down between her paws, eager to see more of this interactions and curious to see how the big sister would respond. He was distracted by Hydra's 'call to arms', wondering what sort of game she had in mind for them, and took this moment to quickly assess where the other three pups were to make sure they were all still safe and near enough.

Vela had long seen how the excited black ball was bouncing around everywhere to then charge towards her and her father. She gave a quick side eye at her father as she felt the nudge. She was unaware if he nudged her to encourage her to interact with her youngest sibling or to tell her something else. When she turned her head she had the young boy on his back between her front paws. He looked rather excited to show her affection.

A hesitant wag of her tail seemed to be the first indicator of even Vela being charmed by the pups enthusiasm. She had calmed down more in the last few months. Her previously excitable self, was much more reserved lately. She moved her nose closer to Arcturus belly and nosed over it. She had to admit that he was pretty soft. She was pleased to note that none of her siblings had the same coat pattern as her. That must mean she was still daddy's favorite. Vela decided that her siblings were rather enjoyable if they showered her with as much attention as this dark pup was doing. Though Vela was also very much aware that if she wasn't warmly receiving her new siblings she wouldn't gain any bonus points with her father. So she wagged her tail a bit more, though still rather reserved.

IT WORKED!!

Yami's head jerked around when her friend sang back. Once again, her untrained ears failed her. She looked helplessly around at her packmates before her eyes landed on who she deemed to be the most likely suspect. She was not at all correct.

With a grin, she scampered towards Jarilo, babbling in a lilting, sing-songy voice all the while. She didn't stop when she reached him, instead springing straight into his forelegs and bonking her head on him. The impact caused her to drop straight back onto her haunches before him. But with a shake of her head, the ache was gone and she was leaning forward to sniff politely at him, her eyes peeking upwards at his face while she smiled and her tail beat a swift back and forth rhythm at her rear.

✴        The boy got some interaction from Gannet at first but it was not enough; rather, it was Arcturus bumping in to him and scampering away that distracted the child in his efforts. For a moment he was undecided about where to be, what to do, who to visit - there were many bodies and very few were familiar. Without Arcturus nearby he felt decidedly out of sorts and was left peering between the adults, then glancing to the jovial brother of his, and only made up his mind between Gannet or Hydra when his older sister made her playful noise. That was enough to make up his mind. He ploughed after Arcturus and couldn't stop himself in time upon getting near, resulting in a wonky collision as gunmetal grey met the ink of his brother's coat.

He hovered with a thorough mix of anticipation and uncertainty, all sprinkled with sheer excitement as he couldn't quite decide where to even begin. From his own spot, he watched the others take to the pups and vice versa, and that alone kept his mind busied between tossing out his own greetings and happy tail wags when appropriate.

Things seemed to sort themselves out once he adjusted to the initial newness and relative chaos of four fresh wolves being introduced, but about when he exhaled thinking that, he noticed the a brownish one really coming quickly and noisily. He perked and immediately didn't know what to do when she carried her way right on into him. "Hey!" he chuffed, and tried to bounce aside a little as she plopped back down, but it was too late to be of any good. "You okay??" he reached to poke her with his nose when she sniffed at him, but as soon as she looked entirely alright for more than about five seconds, he sunk down into a play-bow and waved his rump all around. This way, he wanted to invite her to show him what was fine.. and most of all, plaaaay.

In a language universal like a happy romp, the yearling hoped he could better know his brand new siblings that way--even if it was only one at a time, and just for a moment. He was still way too excited and just happy to be here with them, even if he could hardly contain the weird nerves and delight.
