River whined and tossed fitfully in his sleep; his mid-day nap had gone awry, it seemed. The young Corten was experiencing his first nightmare— not that he had much fuel, really. Rushing, sinister shadows filled his dreams. He could not make sense of the shapes, but the feeling of fear was unmistakable. His young mind told him there was something out there— something terrible in the world beyond. Though he could not know it, he was right in a way.
The pale boy kicked out fiercely, beginning to rouse from sleep as the nightmare intensified. His whining increased in volume and frequency, until quite suddenly he was awake. River sat up, mouth dry, and let out a strange half-croaking half-wailing noise. Comfort me!, he demanded with throaty vocalizations, not caring who answered his call.
Winterbourne's voice is low and raspy due to a throat injury during his childhood, and it can sometimes be difficult to understand him.

It hadn't taken long for Eventide to be awakened by his brother's desperate flailing. The toddler rose to a seated position and cocked his head, ears twisting this way and that as he tried to figure out what was bothering Winterbourne so. Was it too cold? Too hot? Was he hungry? Did he have to potty? Did he have a hurt? Eventide thought through just about every cause that he could, whines escaping from his maw all the while.

Finally, Winterbourne shot up, and Eventide scurried over to his side with coddling nudges here and there in an attempt to silently communicate, I'm here! Don't cry, River.

Always on the move as per usual Sunny had grabbed a bite from the cache for himself before deciding to head over toward Catori's den by himself for the first time. He wasn't sure if he was supposed to be near the pups but his curiosity and desire to see and play with them had overridden his common sense.

As he neared the den, the shrill wailing of one of the pups alarmed him. He began to run until he stood in front of the den, peering in to see the two brothers together, the paler one looking shaken. Sunny gave a low whine and  crawled into the den, touching his nose first to River and then to Eventide. "It's alright River, You're safe. Brother Sunny is here, Eventide too. You're alright" he spoke in a soft and soothing voice, laying down and gently using his chin to tuck both boys in close.

The immediate attention from his littermate soothed River quickly; he quieted, then nuzzled fiercely into Eventide's face and neck. He dotted his brother with kisses— his standard greeting, for now. The pale boy would have been content to lay down and drift off again, probably on top of Eventide, but he was startled by the entrance of another.
He couldn't have recognized the wolf as his brother, but Sunny's arrival was met with the same joy he extended to every new acquaintance. River turned, a bit too enthusiastically, and flopped over his older brother's face. Unperturbed, he began to diligently groom what parts of his face he could reach. His nightmare had been forgotten, now; no doubt for good.

Eventide out! :)

Once Eventide was old enough to understand that Sunny was in the same seat as he was, he would be less defensive around Winterbourne. It was only because they were strangers then, not entirely sure of the other's place, that he began to loathe his older brother's presence. The youngster growled quietly and backed off into a corner, content to sit by himself until Sunny finally decided to wander off.

When Eventide responded badly to his presence, Sunny began to wonder if they were too young to be able to have visitors.  He flicked his ears back and gave River a few licks to the top of his head before standing up and giving one last look toward Eventide. "it's alright. I'll head off. You can obviously soothe him just fine" Sunny said good naturedly. With that he turned around and walked out quickly, leaving them together.

Same here!
