All Welcome
it was a day benefitting the Between, the kind of slow, heavy day that was disturbed only by the periodic spitting of rain from the heavens. her fur was already bristling with moisture, a thousand tiny droplets scattered on the hare-brown fur. earth coated all four paws, and she blinked quickly to keep away the wet. it was one of those in-between times, when the fog and spitting drizzle ensured that she wasn't quite comfortable, not quite dry, but still, the sky had not broke.

letting slip another of her signature moans, yet this one more a content-sounding whistle than her usual dreary sound, she picked her way along the game trail, hoping for luck to fill her knotted stomach. she appeared particularly ghastly this day, the wet obscuring further what little scent she carried, slicking down her pelt around her jutting ribs. in this knowledge she was content.

Wraen had long since found out that, when the personal life gave her lemons, the best way of storing them on a shelf and forgetting about them completely, was going out and working on something. The time, when Terance's children would be born, was very near and it was a very challenging time for the gray-scale hunter. She felt bad about not having fixed things with her brother and at the same time she had not come to terms with the source of their initial argument. Any apology now - in Wraen's opinion - would not be honest enough.

She left Sunspire after the pack hunt with no idea of how long would she be gone and how far would her travels take her this time. The incident with Charon and the unpleasant consequences that had followed, had tainted her joy of scouting in the wilderness and flatlands. Therefore she found her peace of mind by wandering in Rising Sun valley and having a whole mountain range between her and any Moonspear wolves she could encounter.

Her mood improved, when she caught scent of partridges, and it got even better, when she saw quite a few of them in the fern grove. She switched quickly into hunting mode, gears of her mind working, analyzing and planning. First she attempted to simply chase them and when this did not work out, sat down to watch them. It was then that she heard someone approaching and turned her head in the direction of the wolf. She could not see it yet, but it was near.

she came across the other not long after she did the scent of pheasants. they seemed to be in some sort of an unsettled state, and she supposed the woman who perched a short distance away was the reason for that. she watched a moment, blinking slowly, before some intelligent part of her roared to life and had her approach the woman meekly, perching a short distance away and peering at the woman for instruction.

she seemed to know what she was doing, surely, and Mildred was the spitting image of some sould needed direction. she could only hope that the woman would take notice of her, as so many had not, and held in a moaning sigh should it scare away the delightful birds clustering before them.

A stranger came into a view and Wraen assessed the female quickly. The appearance, the demeanor, the sort of a lost look about her and the fact that, if it came to any trouble, the hunter could either outrun her or take her on, gave her the confidence to deem the other harmless. She offered a smile, a friendly wag of her tail and then turned her attention back to the birds. They had calmed down somewhat and had assembled themselves in a group further away from the two predators.

She was contemplating and had she been a human, she would have tapped her fingers on the ground, while coming up with the best strategy. Eventually she came to a conclusion to go with - trial and error - then cast a glance at the stranger again, wondering, how she could be useful. "I will try to herd them towards you," Wraen said, getting up to her feet and preparing for action, "and you try and see, who can you catch."

Easy enough, right? Yet she waited to hear a confirmation, before bringing her plan to life.

They tried, they failed, they tried again and the end result was one very small bounty in exchange for flock that ran in panic through the woods and further.
