foredated a couple of days @Reigi
abstract colour and shape burned against here eys, and for the first time in her life thus far, a previously dormant part of her brain fired rapidly to make sense of what was suddenly occurring before her. it was terribly disorienting to suddenly discover a sense previously unknown, to tumble abruptly from her quiet dark world to one filled with things she could see. she was spared any great upset by her limited range of emotion, and thus settled only for a shrill peep of surprise.

she lay huddle on the earth, suddenly dwarfed by the fact that her world held more than she'd thought possible. the best thing to do, she'd discovered quickly, was to lie motionless until the stimulus stopped; a difficult feat seeing as her eyes were wide and stared directly at the den entrance and the dim evening light beyond.

She had been staring down at the puppies, drinking in their newborn-scent much like she always had when one of the babies unleashed a mighty wail that made her ears stand erect.

Mama Reigi cocked her head to the side with one ear placed gently at the ground and peered into her daughter's face to see those pretty baby blues.

Her lips turned up and she breathed out, pressing her nose against Fern's.  So she could see!  Was that all that was the matter?

shapes moved in her wide-open gaze, and then came a familiar sensation; touch. she knew it to be that of the Giver, and suddenly she was made content. Gaze fluttered shut a moment, and with another flicker of surprise, she realized that she knew suddenly how to make the lights go away. It took surprising little focus to repeat whatever she'd just done, and her gaze fluttered once, twice, before finally falling closed.

the pup was at once at ease again, she pressed back against the warm wet (to be one day known as nose) of the Giver.
