All Welcome
@Coelacanth @Stockholm @Six @Grayling @Koi or anyone who'd be allowed in the den. SQUISHY PUPPY TIME

There wasn't much that Thresher would have to say about her life, currently. Existance was still something she experienced, but her thoughts were not exactly in solid form- all she knew was feeling and need, as she relied completely on the care of her parents. She knew warmth, but rarely cold- the girl was well cared for and tended to, and had yet to experience what it was like to be away from the body heat of another for more than an instant. She knew hunger, but only as an acquaintance, as her hunger was quickly satisfied as soon as she made any hungry sounds. She couldn't hear the sounds she made, but was aware that in doing whatever it was that she did with her throat, it gave her what she wanted...Or, rather, something else did. Whether it was to be cleaned, fed, or pulled closer. The little girl wanted for nothing.

She was somewhat aware that she was not the only moving thing. There were other things that were warm and somewhat mobile, that were occasionally still and comfy to lay against, but other times they used whatever those things were, that were attached to her underside, to push and shove at each other to get a better teat. She couldn't exactly tell the difference between them, but despite the fact that they occasionally poked and prodded her, she did like them. They, too, were warm and comfortable, and were simply meant to be there.

The puppy who would one day come to be known as Koi peeped rhythmically as she wriggled and wormed along, her blunt puppy muzzle quivering as she bumped blindly from one obstacle to the next. When she reached her pale sister, she paused. On some primordial, instinctive level, she knew her, and this knowing was familiar and comforting. She wasn’t hungry — evinced by the cream that dappled her nascent flews — but that didn’t stop her from popping open her mouth and suctioning herself against one of her sibling’s paws. The inclination to nurse was instinctive, but the lack of milk production was a deterrent, so she alternated between suckling and gumming.

Movement surprised the little girl, who responded by pulling her head back with a squawk, and waving her blind little face this way and that, trying to smell or touch whatever it was that had just prodded her, squirming against her. It happened again, and this time near one of her paws. She bumped her blunt muzzle against some part of her sister, resting it there simply to feel the warmth and the movement that still puzzled her. Something wet enveloped her foot and began to draw it further toward wetness, clamping down gently every now and again, but she didn't move her foot. It was almost like getting a foot massage- and was somewhat reassuring.

She felt at peace with her forehead propped against whatever, whoever this was, as they gummed and sucked on her foot, until one of the fine, silky hairs from her sister's pelt tickled the nares of her nose, causing her to reel her head backwards, open her little mouth as wide as possible and draw in a tiny lungful of air- only to expell it with surprising force, and a little bit of spittle too. Puppy sneezes. If only she was aware of how adorable she looked.

The sensations of being gummed, prodded, and jostled were all familiar and reassuring in their own way; Koi had begun to lull herself into a deep sleep by the time Thresher jerked back her tiny head and loosed a dew-dappled puppy sneeze. Deaf to the sound, the pearl responded immediately to the sensation of her littermate’s breath raspberrying across her downy nape and lifted a paw to try to sluice the moisture from her face. She didn’t have quite the necessary coordination, though, and peeped fretfully with one infinitesimal paw aloft and trembling.

“Treasure, Treasure,” Seelie whispered, long sweeps of her tongue soothing the pale little girl, as @Stockholm’s chuckle washed across the nape of their darkling daughter. @Grayling and Sixgill were sleeping — for now, anyway — and the two parents exchanged a loving, affectionate glance above the four tiny crowns.

“Beautiful,” the Gampr murmured, looking at his wife, their children, his eyes lingering longest upon the butterscotch-pale girl who most closely resembled him in coloration. It was shocking to see it, sometimes — to look upon these little lives and know that even the smallest portion of their perfection was due in part to him.

Nostrils still trembling from her sneeze, Thresher froze as her mother's tongue began to swipe along her spine, flattening her soft, milky fur, and causing the pup to relax and slowly sink back to the ground. There was something so comforting about her mother's touch that almost instantly lulled the girl into a feeling of security and care. She smacked her lips together, and began to worm her way along her mother's elbow, searching blindly through her mother's fur and following along toward where the skin was softer, and she knew she would find a meal. It was a rare opportunity for her to sneak a drink of milk without having to clamber over her siblings, or be pushed and shoved out of the way. Once she found what she was searching for, she latched on, and began to drink, kneading her mother's fur with her little paws as she did so.

Coelacanth nosed Thresher warmly against her flank, rolling slightly to afford her cream and butterscotch daughter better access. Koi, deprived of her sister’s warmth, began sweeping her tiny head to and fro, sniffing and snuffling — and when she did not find a sibling or a parent in her immediate vicinity, peeped and wailed her alarm. Seelie extended a paw to the pearl, who pressed her nose to the hollow of her mother’s wrist, following the feathered bannister until she, too, was able to latch on and feed.
