All Welcome
Someone fite me!

✴        Milk was in short supply since the kids had begun their weaning process, although it didn't affect Revui too much. He'd gotten the taste for meat and thoroughly enjoyed strapping on the pounds; the fun was in tearing the chunks of regurgitated flesh to pieces, even though sometimes his zeal got the better of him and he choked back his meals a bit too fast regardless. As always, he was hungry and on the prowl for a way to satiate himself.

Completely by accident, the child had drifted from the rendezvous site after the scent of food, and found a half-buried cache in the process. Something must've unearthed it; his presence having scared off whoever, or whatever, had done so. In a way he'd circumvented some pest's attempts to raid the cache — but upon finding it, Revui couldn't help himself. He dove face-first in to it and snapped up what bits were exposed, then got to work digging out the rest.

He came trotting over nose-first to potentially investigate some suspicious sort of scent he couldn't place, but he was too late to see anything except his silvery brother digging up the cache there. Now wondering if he had to shift gears to focus on some new matter, the yearling squinted and had to consider what Revui was doing here, by himself, and why he had thought he had smelled something weird in the first place..

There looked to be no sign of anything ominous now, and much of what  he smelled was old cache-meat and freshly up-heaved dirt, but suspicion ran in the family. Without any good answers in sight, he was a bit confused, but motivated enough to press on, so barked out a loud "Hey!" and slowed his trot up into a lighter prance that closed the last of the distance towards his littler sibling's side. "I thought I smelled something weird over here but some little monster digging up the place isn't what I expected.." he rambled, mainly to himself. "What are you doing?" he asked, clacking his teeth and flicking his ears up tall. Since Revui was the prickly hungry one, but the one that always naturally caught his eye and could maybe roughly be labelled as his ""favorite (to pester)"", he always felt a little torn about him--but the same went for all the pups, who were difficult for the yearling who had never known many younger than himself to get to know at the level he wanted already. Still, he playfully flagged and waved his tail while he eyed his brother's doings, looming nearer to the cache with oogling eyes.

✴        Dig dig dig — it seemed as if the more he tried to unearth the food, the less appetizing it smelled. Not that he'd be deterred by something as subjective as scent. The musk of the intruder was there too, perhaps vivifying his efforts, giving him something to investigate as he went — but in the end it was the food's presence that drove him to digging.

When the older boy arrived, Revui was quite a mess. His silver coat was streaked with mud and dust, and he wasn't stopping to look up — although his ears pivoted slightly when he heard the voice — and he only stopped when his limbs grew tired.

None of his own prattling on seemed to disturb the digging boy, so Jarilo side-eyed the whole situation appropriately. "Well, something here smells funky. You see anything..?" he asked, pretty sure it was either going to go right over his head or in one ear just to go right out the other. Jarilo didn't remember clearly what it was like to be this age, but he did remember learning his best if he was shown. "If it was something bad creeping around here stinking, you'd have a lot better things to chomp and destroy than just dirt and old meat, y'know." he loomed ever closer, and set to trying to add an ominous pause to the end there as he started down his muzzle at the younger boy. "What if an intruder was still nearby?" he asked, tail waving slow and high.

✴        The other wolf was talking and didn't seem like he was going to stop. The boy paused in his digging to listen, and looked up at Jarilo as he got to the end of his explanation, asking an obvious question. The tone of his voice was different than before and that made Revui's ears fan either side of his head with uncertainty (or maybe he was just thinking) before returning to their awkward height.

The only thing that Revui could think to do in this moment was huff softly, and then he lifted his lips and showed off his fangs. His little voice went, Rrrr! as a mock display of ferocity. He clipped at the air with his front teeth, and then hid his fangs again. He was saying, I'd use these! But at the moment there was nothing to fight — whatever had started to unearth the cache had been scared off and could've been waiting somewhere, watching hungrily.

There were a great many directions he could push this in, and of course, he'd gladly run his mouth for all it was worth along any route he saw fit. Revui didn't seem to take to much of it anyway, but Jarilo didn't mind one way or another--he had at least goaded the boy into a show of his teeth and he grinned with the  rush it gave him. Ready to meet them with an eager dance, the yearling swept back his ears and sidestepped gently out of reach just to be sure.

Using the same momentum, he arced around his dirty little brother and rose his hackles up playfully too. "And what else?" he asked, pairing it with a posture that backed up his words well--eager eyes, a waving tail, and looking ready to pounce. He knew the boy packed a shitload of tenacity in that growing body of his, but how could he handle when the foe was bigger, faster, and ready to fight back? He didn't doubt him any and wanted to see what he could rise out of him. Jarilo returned with a growl of his own, clicking his teeth shut hopefully close to his brother's side at the end of a quick lunge.

He would push him a while longer and help him polish up his defense. More and more, the bigger they grew, Jarilo understood that his brothers were going to be something good for this pack one day. No one was going to want to mess with anything this sharp monster guarded.. so the older brother was very happy to help him expend these sorts of energies, and play the aggressor for now.
