All Welcome
Hydra prowled the borders, a low growl rattling forth from her throat as she noted the coyote scat much too near for her liking. The scent was new, and in her peripheral she caught a flash of movement—they were not past the borders, but too close for her comfort. Hydra rushed forward then, not waiting a moment more; she preferred preventative toward reactive, if it could be helped, and it was not difficult to know when a wild canid was testing their boundaries and about to act on their findings.

A pity, she thought; for the moments the creature had left to feel, she knew for certain it would not at all like what they had found. It was swift, but Hydra was creative with her knowledge of home; she was able to cut it off quicker than even she had anticipated, and as it looked over its shoulder with a bemused look in its eye (that transitioned swiftly to plain horror), Hydra snared it in the trap of her jaws. Her own surprise was to its benefit; she released as she careened past, knowing if she did not she would become unbalanced and likely injured herself. It had but three seconds to recover—by one, Hydra had turned already (it gathered itself), by two, Hydra was bridging the short gap left between them (it sought to expand such a gap), and by three, Hydra was upon it again (it felt her hot breath along its withers) and was swift in bearing down upon it; she wasted no time in ending its life, making the ordeal as painless as possible for the thing.

There was a thrill in killing, and she felt it then as she looked upon the corpse—and the joy she felt was from knowing that those she loved who could not defend themselves from such an animal were safe for another day. Hydra picked the thing up and made her way back toward the territory, debating between burying the animal or bringing it to her siblings to play with.

Ocellus, despite enjoying her new home and the view they had from up here, was feeling a little sick. No puking or generally being unwell, just a bit nervous and uneasy ever since she had joined the Moonspearians. Not ever in her life had she been on a mountain before, let alone be there almost 24/7, and to say she feared falling down was an understatement. She guessed she was afraid of heights, which was a bummer, but she wouldn't give up her place among them so easily.

She was prodding at some rocks to pass the time, how they differed from the ones elsewhere, when she took notice of another's footfalls. With a swift wave of her tail and a submissive stance about her would she greet whoever came by.

Hydra's own ideas were put on pause when, as she moved, another came into her line of sight. This was a wolf Hydra had yet to meet, though now and then Hydra scented them. It was unlike it was with Rouge, though; it was not for lack of the others presence. Truth be told, Hydra had prioritized her siblings and the borders—she regretted not seeking this one out sooner. It was important to know her subordinates.

And so the Beta moved toward them, appreciative of their body language and chuffing in greeting. Hydra was swift to approach, dropping the body for the time being and moving to investigate the scent of the other with an amicable wave of her tail (should she be permitted, and should the other not move away). Her intent was relatively clear, though there was ample time for Ocellus to move away should she not desire Hydra's nearness.

The one who came to greet her was not one she recognized. Still, the woman's respect was earned by the younger black female simply by being one of them. There was nothing stronger than the bond between packmates, safe for those of lovers and family. but since Ocellus had neither, this was the strongest bond she had felt in a long time.

She let the other near her, knowing how to behave in such situations. Though not very social, Ocellus had quite the grasp on how social interactions and other wolves worked. Not many surprised her anymore, neither did the blue-eyed beast. In turn, Ocellus stretched to also sniff at the other's coat. I'm Ocellus. She stated with a smile after her inspection, finding it only appropriate to introduce herself since she was the new one around here.
