All Welcome

Motherhood was tiring. It had drained Queenie of her very essence, leaving behind only a shell of indifference and instinct. It took constant reminders to eat and drink and sleep for her to even survive, and she couldn't help but resent the pups for it. They were more mobile, more vocal, and Queenie hated every minute of it. She thought that she might go insane if she had to stay shelled up in the den for much longer, but knowing that it was the only thing that gave her any sort of purpose kept her sated.

Vous m'avez vidé de la vie, she whined, eyes swollen and tight from days without sleep, Vous avez tout volé. Queenie was tired of seeing them everyday, instead of seeing the sun's rise over the horizon, or the evening lights dancing on the treeline. She was tired of hearing their voices, smelling their scents; she didn't want them anymore.

But she would be damned if anyone tried to take them.
Hiya!
Please take the time to read through this post.
Happy roleplaying!

his -- whatever it is, moments -- with alarian have kept him distracted. he pays attention to the children, yes, he makes sure they are being fed (blessedly they are) but he has not tried to speak to queenie since that day. what is there to say? (one million things). it's not as if alarian's the only avoidant one in bracken sanctuary.

but there is only so long one can avoid the mother of your children. hesitantly delight pokes his head into the den in time to catch the last of her french, doesn't understand any of it. "hey," he says, quiet, "how're you holding up?"
but we were worried that you'd fallen in the river, or worse
but then you sent us back a letter, it said in capital letters

For good or for bad, Mali at least wasn't going to be making Queenie's life any harder than he had to -- for now, at least.  Certainly, he'd likely cause his fair share of issues later on but it would probably be when he was quite a bit larger and more sapient.  In fact, he started things off half-dozing.

Words still wouldn't mean anything to him for a while longer, but at least now with functional ears and quite a bit more coordination he was starting to find his way in the world, and that often meant decorating any silence with nonsensical jabbering.  In that aspect, it was unfortunate that Queenie had started to speak, as he was woken and reminded of his purpose to just blab away.  Little paws splayed wildly into the air before he wriggled around, probably kicking at least one if not both of his sisters (he hadn't figured out that whole "stay in your own area" thing yet either).  Then up to his feet with a, Rrrawgh! and pounced forward towards his mother.  As she spoke a second time, he yipped and play-bowed in front of her, trying to coerce her into having fun 'cause that would totally fix whatever sour mood she was in.  He was about to continue on forward and be more forceful about it when there came another distraction!  Mali spun and careened towards Delight instead, planning to tackle a leg and gnaw on him with his new pointy teeth.

Life was totally just about games, wasn't it?

each day, she is stronger. she is growing and if you look closely, she’s bigger. her stomach if round more often than not and her mobility increases, along with understanding of the world around her. while she should, in theory, be happy now, something stifles it. brilliance can’t put a paw on it—she has siblings to play with and food to eat and parents that come around—and so she tries to ignore it. when her mother talks, she listens though she does not comprehend, and sticks close when she is near. if she stays around, then everything will be fine and her mother will love her.

when delight steps in, she doesn’t make a sound, but her tail causes her whole body to wiggle—but she does not get closer, no! she must stay here, close to her mother and prove how much better she is than her littermates.
i just want to find a god
and i hope she loves me too

gonna wrap this since queenies inactive <3

the tension between him and the mother of his children is so thick delight is drowning in it, unable to find his way back to the surface. they were friends, they are friends, they had been friends -- hadn't they? aren't they? but he is not the same delight and she is not the same queenie: they had been two kids joking about kids and now they are two bitter and tired adults and delight ruined queenie's life in the same breath he brought new life forward.

he'll have to find a way to live with that.

she doesn't answer him and so he withdraws, sparing his children a soft, mournful look before he goes -- they really never stood a chance with him involved, did they.
