All Welcome
The plume of smoke wafted into the glen after the sun had long set. The twinkling stars were still visible between the gaps in the canopy above. Fireflies danced their mating dance, lighting up the area as if stars themselves. What actually concerned the feline, though, was the ample cover and the scent of deer.

Once a suitable target was in sight, she lowered herself to a crouch and stalked through the tall grass. The doe faced away from her, and in the low lighting, success seemed imminent. The predator inched closer and closer, only four feet away now. This was why she preferred the night. Coiling her muscles, Maud shoved off of the ground to launch herself at the deer. The rest fled as the unfortunate target was knocked to the ground under her weight with a hearty thud. Her jaws pierced its throat, and it was over.

It didn't take long for Maud to catch her breath. Then, she began to dig into the doe's hindquarter, bloodying her face and the air around her. She was engulfed in the task, fearing little and eager to fill her stomach.

at first, a narrow head appears from the hole in the ground. after a moment's examination which involved much rotation of the neck, the rest of her equally narrow body pulls itself out. both her ears and nose twitch vigorously. then they stop. is that elil i smell, so close to me? is that the pfeffa with its claws and teeth?

the solemn and pale face of black coyote inlé turns over in the night sky with an uncountable troop of winking stars. she stares at it, for a moment, two feverish lights reflected in her eyes, before darting, a silver blur. no, bullet. she watches the pfeffa with narrow eyes and narrower teeth from a safe distance. perhaps after it has gone, she would eat her fill from the bones that were left.

She noticed a blur of movement and whipped her head up, ears swiveling to catch even the most delicate of sounds. Magenta eyes pinpointed a coyote of sorts standing by, not bothering to hide its scavenging intentions. Such sights were not uncommon to the puma, and sensing that it was alone, she would not make a move on it. Still, she kept an eye on the creature as she fed, now moving to feast on the stomach contents of the ungulate.
